update is garbage, legendary animals are really tanky for some reason which means all profits from them will just go back into ammo, gus is the only good part

I get the pandemic has f*cked over companies. But if the devs can make a huge GTA update. Give us something more than studying a f*cking frog.

I strongly dislike that the only new gameplay thing we get is roles.

It feels like having a car that has a gas pedal, a steering wheel and everything else it needs to drive but no motor.

And eighty percent of the Update is locked behind the Role.

The only players this update is going to appeal to are hardcore PVErs and without solo lobbies...they are likely to hate it as well.  The compendium should have been left out of online or been added since day 1.  It feels like the hours and hours of hunting was a waste of time prior to this update.  I like the trapper, but having to study all the animals most players are going to hate it.

I haven't played it, don't have PS Plus and won't renew until PS5 but really?

And how much is that role? 15 Gold again?

They just re-released hunting under a different name, made it even more boring and called it a day...

- They made the weakest gun even weaker so its a tranquilizer (cause shooting the same animal 20-30x in a row is sooo much fun...).
- After that you just standing over the animal and holding a button, waiting for the animation to end... I already did that in single player. And I did it AGAIN for Cripps...

Who on earth thought that this would be a good idea? Who thought this would be fun? How is anything of this new? And they srsly called this thing "massive"?

Why not focus on making Heists instead?  Even adding more bounty missions would be 10x better than this sh*t.

Whats next? Moonshiners reskin but this time you selling porcelain dishes?

I rly hope theres something better hidden as dripfeed... Otherwise I'm done with this game.

There are poacher missions you can get from Harriet where you have to go and kill a group of poachers that are even tankier than the revenue agents

I was never planing to do the roll but thus far there is no regrets but can someone please tell me there is some redeeming qualitatives with the roll!

What i learned so far; No fun to play together just do everything solo. At least Moonshiner had the band where we could play together and bar where we could interact with other players without getting your face blown off! Bounty Hunter roll was where we could team up and hunt npc and even players who had high enough bounty.

But this is like collector where you and your friends needs to stand in line do to the roll!

Got to say, this does reek of a hastily put together Update.

Maybe the clown moment did something to T2 to push R* to release the update to soon!

Can't even call my hunting wagon....

Same nor my bounty wagon (both greyed out). Also got black screen of death when trying to start a moonshine sell mission and ended up having to force the game to shut down. Enjoying the new update though.

What in hell are the last two Mystery Vouchers from Outlaw Pass 2 doing in my queue, now that Outlaw Pass 3 is out?

I figured, at best, these Mystery Vouchers would become free XP or a Gold Discount going into Outlaw Pass 3, but that ain't happening.

You'd figure the best time to unlock and redeem Mystery Vouchers from the last Pass would be before the new one begins!

I didn't join the first clown movement, But now I'm all for it... Rockstar definitely played us like Clowns, Giving us a whole "Massive" update on something we being doing since day 1...🤦🏾‍♂️🤦🏾‍♂️🤦🏾‍♂️

I'm sure its great for all you PS4 players, but I really hate that they locked 3 Legendary animals behind PS early access (and another one behind Twitch Prime). Xbox once again getting the shaft and now with even less to do

I'm on PS4 and even I think that the platform exclusivity stuff is a load of b*llocks.

Waiting so many months for... more hunting and collecting. Amazing Rockstar! Concept for this "massive" update comes from single player, so nothing new really. I thought about jumping back into the game. Glad I didn't bother installing the game again. I understand that RDO isn't GTAO. But is this really the best they can do for RDR's online part? Almost 2 years after the game's release!? Dammit R*

Maybe it was a mistake but I went to Blackwater where, it seems, many players were attempting to test the killing power of that new rifle on anyone in town. Okay, I learned my lesson.

Got invited to a much nicer, nearly vacant lobby where I can evaluate better.

Given that I'm a PvEer on PSN who expects absolutely nothing from the garbage company I believe Rockstar to be (garbage company, great game), I'm okay with what I have seen so far. RDO is my third or fourth most played game currently so I guess you should also keep that in mind.

Glad you found some joy. Me, I'm pretty much done with this game now. Just had to give it all a try. Ahh, well. Shame it was all I expected and R* further proved they aren't listening, but sh*t happens. I waited long enough for them to buck up but clearly they won't now.

Bit of a change of pace: going to B&M about the reaction to this update! :sly:

I'm watching people on Twitter/Twitch gripe that this thing isn't "efficient" or "worth it" or what-have-you, and ...look, I get that it's just a lazy thing that videogames do, where everything ends up getting incentivised in terms of 'how much you get paid for doing the thing', instead of anything else (the moment-to-moment experience of play, skill mastery, exploration, creativity, etc.), and so games have trained players to view things in terms of profit.

But I can't help feel that's missing the potential, here - I'm looking at a thing where you can go off on an expedition, track different creatures, catalogue them, maybe seek something you've not seen yet, and overall treat the role much more like you would in real life. It's a real step up from Collector, where after a while, the whole map system means that you're encouraged to play less like someone seeking out treasure, and more like a series of chores - a means to an end, where that end is money/XP grinding.

I'm sure it'll get old - diminishing returns are a thing for any game, and R* in particular isn't great with keeping things fresh in the long term. But eh, I still like the basic concept, here, where the whole thing feels (at least for now) more like an actual job in the setting, rather than something transparently 'videogame-y'. And I worry that if the reaction isn't positive, R* will just pivot back to stuff that's more efficient for money grinding (like pretty much every GTAO update), but where you end up zoning out and going through the motions, rather than being able to get into the spirit of the activity and actually engage in a bit of role-play and immersion.

Lobby choice is all it would take for me to have found all the positive in this DLC you see. Just hate how it's never gonna happen and time to give up the ghost. I waited long enough. :(

This, man, THIS. A billion times.

Compendium is good to keep people entertained in SP. If it didn't make the cut in the early days of RDO, shouldn't make it now, not even with a different name.

Hours upon hours of hunting in both SP&RDO only to find myself tracking critters again. It's like going back to school.

Yeah, I still hate the idea of 'no invite-only/solo sessions' - and I say that as someone who plays in defensive mode all the time, and generally doesn't get bothered by griefers or anything like that.

Not least because I've seen some daft issues with the new role: if a bunch of people finish the opening cutscene, they all wind up waking up in the same spot, so you get spat out into the woods with randomly-spawning other players. :p  And worse from a practical perspective: watching players queuing up at the same spot for the one legendary animal spawn, because they've all been directed to that one location. That'd all get fixed just letting players do the activity solo - and it's not like it's designed like a 'gold rush', where you're supposed to race to find things before other players do. Seems like a daft oversight, compounded by the lack of session types.

And while I'm praising the concept of Naturalist, I'll preemptively B&M about how mashing A on horseback to get from place to place, and trying to steer a horse around some ridge in a map that really doesn't lend itself to efficient, enjoyable traversal, really takes the fun out of trying to track/document animals. Imagine how much more user-friendly things like this and collector would be in GTAO's map - heck, imagine trying to track animals with binoculars, from a helicopter - !!

Yeah, that where we all get dumped just outside Strawberry was a royal mess, lol. Certainly added to the start of a poor session although once I got out of there, I just plodded away at my treasure maps. Didn't do much as I have done it all 4 times in story so figured it's another role I'll just largely ignore especially while it's new and everyone is all over it in those locations.

I'll pop back to see what they do with this Halloween pass/event, and then await Christmas to see if Santa can have a word, lol. Game's dying on me more and more without those lobbies though. :(

What could have been

- We could be robbing banks and trains in freeroam and missions;

- Customizing a new variety of pistols, rifles, knives and playing with them, because you know its an old west game..

- Customizing and leveling up our new character (with the new - much requested - option to have a new character slot);

- Buying some new released OLD WEST THEMED clothes;

- becoming an outlaw or marshall and engaging in new PvE and PvP activities;

- Buying new properties, farms, customizing our homes, wagons, etc.

- Going into new side activities or a new variety of free roam stranger missions;

Instead, we are shooting sleeping darts at animals and taking blood samples lol wtf is this, please tell me who tf is making these decisions, they are so out of touch with what the players want...

It's like, sedate > sample > stamp > repeat for full category > sell, and repeat everything, it's just so boring, and it's day one of the update lol.
