Well, this sucks. I've recently come back to RDO after a 2-3 month hiatus, and have actually been enjoying myself in a relaxing sort of way, just hunting and doing collectibles and a bit of this and that and general world exploration.

 

No signs of any updates on RDO or GTAO, and now all servers are down?

 

Guess I'll just play something else then.

Had an... interesting... night of poker.  I only played 5 hands.  You'll see why.

 

First hand, I was dealt three of a kind, all 6s.  Lost to a straight.

Second hand, I had a flush in diamonds, Ace high.  Lost to a straight flush.

Third hand, I had a pair of 4s.  Played it anyway, lost to a pair of 5s.

Fourth hand, I had a 6 high straight.  Lost to a 7 high straight.

Fifth hand, I had three 4s.  Lost to a Full house.

 

So, I gave up.  This is the first time I've had hands capable of winning, and other players who were betting sensibly.  I mean, they worked UP to the max bet, and in each case, I went in... because I should have won.  Three of a kind?  Ace high flush? Straight?  Three of a kind AGAIN?  Lost them ALL??  Baffling.

 

So, I decided to go hop on my horse and do a daily in Tumbleweed (I was in St. Denis).  Horse started to move, then stopped... and I lost honour as a horse thief.  Stealing my own horse?  So I started riding to the fast travel post, but as I rounded the corner the horse stopped again.  Horse thief again.  Shrugged, fast travelled to Tumbleweed.

 

As I got there, there was a shootout going on.  I was about to ride away and my horse disappeared.  So I took cover, then walked into town when it was clear.  Took on a bounty, and called my horse.  I hopped on and started riding a few feet and it disappeared again.  Then again.  Then again.  I wondered what was going on, so I thought I'd summon my hunting wagon instead.  Found it was greyed out.  Apparently I was already summoning it or something.

 

So, I started running to where the bounty was.  Out past Armadillo, of course.  Eventually, I did get my horse to come up, and rode to the bounty.  Started shooting his men and then left them behind to go chase him as he ran away.  Suddenly I teleported back to his hidey hole, and the horse stalled for a few seconds before finally going after him.  You would not believe how FAR he ran in the space of about 10 seconds.  Anyway, I could hear him shouting, but couldn't see him, not even with eagle eye.  He was invisible.  Eventually, I accidentally rode over him and he appeared.  Tied him up without actually tying him up (he just suddenly became hogtied as I was dismounting).  Collected the bounty.  Logged off.  Too much STUPID going on in the game tonight.

Yeah, he gives that line when we're passing by I remember ?  I quote the " I have not splet..."  because that is one of the longest lines from him when you start a shine sell, he talks way too much that it gets very annoying after some time because to make money with moonshine we gotta do a lot of selling, so if R* could add a skip option, it would be great for the ppl who owns the shack after a while. That or add shorter lines, I wish they could transfer these to the other npcs that are just there to compose the scenery, I really want them to be like the other city/free roam npcs, with random lines and reacting depending on whats happening.

Most days the game feels like a hobo outside the R* facility just tripped over the extension cord running to the neighbor's backyard outlet and the servers went down...

 

 

Sad thing is the money they make funnels back into them so they can create more money make'n schemes or broken content to bless us all with. Their industry after all is the new coming of Christ we should not question their priorities or reject their 'art' for they know what's best, they're doing right being like they are. We are not worthy of good servers or live services from what I can tell.

 

Got my view of their mentality from Twitter over the years of employees, company heads, games media responding to us peasants. Industry needs an overhaul or this will keep happening this stuff is unacceptable but acceptable because laws haven't seemed to caught up with consumer rights with these guys, their products barely function these days but it's okay and they just drop these services when they like with no warning? Game developers they're pretty much stuck up their own behinds, probably why we're seeing a lot of this mess other than just their greed.

Hate being cynical but until Cyberpunk I see nothing that seems trust worthy of the time or money.

see a cougar, horse speeds off and abandons you. You flap helplessly on the ground and as soon as you get up, you're dead

this is also why Philip Carlier is not worth doing as a legendary bounty ever. 1 life and it can be taken away from you in an instant by an alligator. The game spam spawns them after you've captured Philip and getting him stowed to your horse is nigh impossible because the dumb animations take too long leaving you vulnerable to the instakill alligators

I have said it many times but I will say it again, I love this game, I love the world, I love my character, my horses etc but the gameplay loop is so f*cking boring and tedious.

 

I can't do Trader because animals won't spawn correctly and consistently so its Moonshiner and Bounty Hunting which once you click a few options is forty-five minutes of waiting and if the Bounty loads correctly is dashing like a mad man across the map A to B, kill everyone and B to C on repeat ad-nauseam.

I think the players on PC have been maturing a little, I don't see this any more.

In any town I will walk to my destination unless I'm in a hurry and frustrated with the stupid delay mechanisms they put in the game.

I'm actively trying to avoid this hurry up and wait gameplay, to enjoy the good points of the game and block out the bad parts as much as possible.

 

Even in Valentine, which used to be ground zero of a warzone if any other players were around, it's been rather civil lately.

Wednesday I just walked through a raging gunfight between players, a couple other players, and some lawmen, daring them to start something and a couple of stray shots went relatively close, but that's it.

It's easy enough to mistake a running player for someone who is in conflict with you if you're in the heat of battle (I have done it myself), but someone just walking from store to store (without a weapon readied!!!) is more obviously not part of the melee.

Don't get me wrong, its nowhere near as bad as it used to be but it still happens and its annoying.

This, but for some reason it also makes the worst of them think you are an easy target.

I'm pretty sure that was designed with the idea that you won't be doing it solo. With just 1 friend all 5 star legionaries are a lot easier and with 2 friends, you can do it with 1 hand tied behind your back.

I guess you guys have like the worst luck on the planet. I rarely get attacked by anyone. It doesn't matter if I'm in defensive or not, I can walk through any town and everyone just ignores me and leaves me alone. I play everyday and get attacked maybe once a week, maybe. I'm far more likely to get waved at than shot at...I'm on xbox.

Rarely do trader daily unless a friend invites to a functional lobby! I really like the moonshine, no upkeep and is kinda passive. A great improvement should be removal off 90% of timers!

Ok so let me make this clear. When I'm on my horse I try as much as I can to keep a straight line. Which means that if you approach me on my left side, I'll stick to the right side so that we can pass by each other easily and you'll be out of harm's way.

 

I DO NOT need you to swerve your horses neck up towards my side of the road at this point, but you always seem to do this? Why? Is there something wrong with your horses neck? Is your horse suicidal?

 

Even when I'm riding in cinematic mode, which I quite often do when I'm searching for collectibles. Here I am, peacefully riding 100% in a straight line, looking at the map or checking the menus and STILL all of a sudden I hear a loud crash and once I'm FINALLY back to the game screen - because the menu takes forever to close -, you and your filthy friend there is shooting me to death or injuring my horse BECAUSE YOU JUST HAD TO RIDE RIGHT UP IN FRONT OF IT.

 

Another thing. When I'm riding in the aforementioned cinematic mode and you're traveling in the same direction in front of me, how about you let me PASS BY you and your slow and ugly donkey of a specimen, because some of us actually have someplace to be. Why even use a horse if you plan on being outrun by an alligator turtle?

 

And lastly: Trees of the west, how come when I intend for my horse to pass on your left side, there seems to be a built in magnet in you that forces my horse away and towards your right side instead? This often results in my horse riding into the tree, which is clearly worse for all parts involved. Or it just stops on the spot and throws a fit of confusion. If I clearly intend to pass on the left side with plenty of space and a well-thought out direction, there really is no need to try and correct it towards the other side. Why is this even a problem?

I've been getting low level rodeo clowns thinking that I'm just begging to be hogtied and shot at. Jokes on them when I pull my knife, break their plain lasso and start popping them off one by one until they parley or leave the server. I hate being that way too.

 

I didn't even know it was possible to be lassoed while in defensive, but after the first two times that rope hits near my character they always get that third attempt?

Very well said Dr. Rosenthal. I however enjoy those npc's that give me lip as i ride by, and or turn their horse's head towards me.
In such occurances i whip out my shotgun and shoot them and their horse. Pairs are twice the pleasure. Headshots always.
Like that crazy guy in Borderlands 2 these guy are asking me to shoot them in their face. The nice guy i am gives them what they ask for.

Marcel says "take your time, don't get caught"...so here's a 9 minute timer, and to get some gold you must deliver it with more than 5 minutes left (6 minutes really, because it glitches and doesn't count if the timer's under 6:00).

Been making some good money the past few days from moonshiner sales. About to go and make another sale when I get the notification a seller has been caught by police and I have to rescue him. No problem, I go kill the agents and just as I’m taking the seller off the horse to untie a mounted agent comes up. I saw him and pulled out the revolver while holding the seller. In two quick shots the agent headshots the seller that is on my shoulder before I could even aim at him! Now I have to wait to sell again. hA HA HA HA Ha!!!

They have been getting better for me on the Xbox, sometimes they spawn sporadically, and sometimes they are all over the place but they are definitely making more of a presence.
