I’ve seen this statement very often about GTA 5 in the past but I’ve never found a lobby on PS4 that had up to 32 players. How often does it happen?

Because the same thing happens with RDO: The most I’ve had in a lobby was 22 players, and the animal spawns were not affected (I don’t think the glitch happens at all on PC to begin with).

That is because of there no merging of lobby's in GTA:O! If they remove that from Red Dead, lobby's should shrink in size.

f*ck off and get a life! You don't need the money, you're just being an ass and know where the thing spawns!

RDO design is not the same as GTAO. There's a fair few similarities for sure and they aint helping them selves by copy and pasting tried and tested GTAO mechanics here and there (looking at you, Trader) but with things like hunting, crafting, the roles, collecting, stranger missions, story missions as well as some light RPG mechanics, RDO has a lot of design that is very much it's own.

Even then, GTAO's design philosophy has shifted since launch and a lot of content now requires you to be in public sessions. I'd wager that if they could remove private lobbies in GTAO without inciting a riot they'd have done so years ago.

It doesn't happen often no for whatever reason but it doesn't change the fact that the game supports up to 32 players.

Regarding what was talked about above with the reasoning for animal spawns being broken my suspicion (and it is just that) is that the game is hitting an AI limit. Low session player count, tons of AI, gang hideouts and random events, high session player count, low amounts of AI, no animals, no random events, no hideouts. I could very likely be wrong but that's my current guess.

Sure some things are different, but its based on the same platform, stop sugarcoating pls..., or gimme some proof that it is a total different and new engine RDO is based on.

The animal spawns ? i can hear the animals, close and distant but no animals for miles to see, only the sounds seem to spawn.

I gave you proof, I gave you mechanics and systems that do not exist in any shape or form in GTAO. If you want to ignore that as proof that's on you, but it doesn't make it not factual proof. As for engine, Ace Combat 7, Gears of War 5, Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order, Life is Strange 2 and Sea of Thieves all run on the same engine. Are they all identical to each other? No, to even suggest that game engine has anything to do with it is ridiculous. RAGE is Rockstar's in-house engine they use for their games, it is not proof that their games are the same.

What you hear are ambient noises, not invisible animals making noises. All games make use of ambient noises, films, tv... etc.

Rockstar even said it: they learned alot from gtao and took the best from that, and rdr1 multiplayer blabla.

So for a big part its all based on the same design, engine and mechanics.

Sure some things might be different, but what did they actually learn ?! nothing... (hence the beta period f*ckup)

Its all blabla, the only thing that is working as a charm from day 1 they implemented it is the gold bar store.

Server capacity cost money and they try to do this as cheap as possible, thats what causes the problems.

When im in a lobby/session with 5 players it all works fine and smooth.

And now im gonna play instead of reading this nonsense. ;)

Companies say a lot of things, what they do is what matters. Even then, they absolutely did learn stuff from GTAO, which is why GTAO content shifted towards free roam content like businesses over things like contact missions. RDO started with this philosophy from day 1 with things like stranger missions being set in the free roam and just in general a smaller emphasis on instanced content and of course they've doubled down on this design approach more recently with the roles.

There you go again with the word engine, I don't think you understand what a game engine is or what it does. Regardless, they are open world games with shooting from the same developer, no one is trying to argue that there aren't plenty of similarities but to suggest they are exactly the same is a bit silly.

As someone with hundreds of hours in the game, plenty of it works like a charm and has done for a long time. There still issues, some serious like animal spawns, which should be fixed by now regardless but lets not get hyperbolic and move this discussion to the easy "wah wah they only care about microtransactions" because it's the video game equivalent of ad hominem these days.

Nonsense would be someone making claims with factually incorrect information or just vagueness as they don't have any actual proof of their claims, or just show a general lack of understanding about what they are talking about. I've done none of those things.

Not played for a while. I see they haven’t resolved the camp issue.

It's actually been A LOT better for me since the Moonshiner patch, never had issues getting my camp up and it usually is spawned when I load into sessions. Doing those camp related daily challenges has actually been possible for me now. It's even stuck to the locations I tell it to, instead of somehow ending up in New Austin.

What the f*ck is R* doing with facial hair? Its obvious that they just rip it from NPC models so why  are we not getting new ones? Also what's with the selection? It's either hobo rapist beards, molester moustaches, Hipster f*ck boy facial or other sh*te.

What happened to different styles or lengths of stubble? Why can't we combine styles?

Realised earlier that some items of limited-availability clothing haven't been made available since April - great for anyone who started the game after the beta, then (like all the folks playing on PC)... :rol:

...come to think of it, are PC players ever going to get the stuff from Outlaw Pass #1? Considering R*'s track record with GTAO, I wouldn't be surprised if the answer was "no" - like how certain limited-time GTAO items have only been obtainable once or twice (the "high flyer" parachute bag, for instance, which hasn't been available since 2014 IIRC), and never since the game came to PC.

It feels like holding parts of the game to ransom, honestly - compare it to things like Forza Horizon or Monster Hunter, where Playground Games and Capcom actually tell people what's coming out when, weeks in advance, and reassure players up-front that while limited-time stuff comes and goes, there'll always be another opportunity to earn it in the not-too-distant future. That's fairer on people who can't spend their entire lives glued to a single game, and makes limited-time stuff simply an incentive to try something different (or pop back into the game if you've not being playing), because the worst that can happen is 'you'll have to wait a few months to try again', and not 'you've missed out forever'.

Pretty much all of this. I had to use a work around to get the Morning Tailcoat I have wanted since the BETA.

They want people to come back each week to see whats been added bt with the advent of GTAO/RDO YouTubers that backward mentality only ends up driving more people to these YouTubers than the game.

Unless you've taken advantage of bugs and bought them from the Social Club catalogue, which a lot of people have. Rockstar don't do anything to curb the belief that exploiters are the ones that get the most fun out of their games do they?

They really need to bring them all back especially if what I've heard is true which is that the clothing dripfeed for the Moonshiner update is tiny.

And the best part is that R* sh*ts on the little guy while very rarely ever catching the exploiters.

I thought they would have made every clothing item available for one week to celebrate the PC version of Online being released.

It's worse, I reckon: at least with drip-fed stuff in GTAO, new cars got added piecemeal, but they weren't being removed the following week. Weekly unlocks keep eyeballs on GTAO months after an update first drops (rather than everyone playing with the new stuff in the first week or so, then the novelty wearing off for months on end until the next full update), but at least I can go into GTAO and buy a drip-fed car any time I want, rather than having to snap it up before it goes - possibly forever.

RDO, on the other hand, seems like R* wants to go all-in with the Fortnite-style 'forever game' model: in order not to miss out on something from the season/battle/outlaw pass, you have to put in enough hours to unlock it within the limited time period, even after spending premium currency on the pass. That's why they're called 'forever games' - because you're supposed to play the one game as long and as much as possible, ideally so much that it's the only such game you have time to play (wouldn't want you spending time/money on another publisher's products, now would we? :rol:).

That last part's probably going to be my breaking point next year - because at this rate, Outlaw Pass #3 is likely going to land at some point in April, right in the middle of what's set to be a pile-up of blockbuster releases (FF7 remake, RE3 remake, Cyberpunk, TLoU2, etc.). Imagine having to choose between 'grinding RDO in order not to miss out on stuff' or 'playing any one of those' - although I am amused at the thought of Outlaw Pass #3 possibly being a bit of a dud for R*, when it turns out that no, being able to unlock Dutch's outfit for your character at pass rank 70 isn't a bigger draw than some of the most highly-anticipated games of this entire console generation... :p

And this is why I'm pissed nobody backed me up when I was bitching at how they upped how many levels there are, AND upping the amount of XP you need per level.

We're lucky that the outlaw passes have come with new content thus far. But just imagine if they release Outlaw Pass 3 on a filler DLC like GTA Online's racing DLC, it'd be a struggle to grind!

I doubt you got backed up because ultimately the time to level up the pass is still tiny compared to other passes out there. Dedicated players can do it in two days and active players can do it comfortably in a week or two. It's not difficult or time consuming and more levels means more rewards, which admittedly were a lot of filler but the coupons are good for new and returning players.

I personally wouldn't be dead against an Outlaw Pass being used as filler content between content updates, I've played games with passes like that before and if the grind isn't horrible it's not something I'm against. If they were to put levels behind time gated challenges like many other battle passes though, oof. As it stands though, RDO's Outlaw Pass is one of the best ones out there.

Handguns simply do not do enough damage. It should NOT take 5+ Hollowpoint shots to the chest with a fully maxed shortgame card and winning streak card to bring someone down. The way the game is set up, there’s zero reason to use anything other than the Krag rifle and Browning auto 5. This has been a problem since online launched, and they refuse to rectify it. If you don’t get headshots, it’s essentially impossible to win a shootout.

Didn't do my moonshine sell daily challenge today as yet again my moonshine batch just vanished and gave the grey mash bar too. Wasn't going to restart game as for once I didn't get disconnected.

Whatever the f*ck R* is smoking they need to lay off it.

Every single purchasable property in GTAO let you buy sleeping quarters even when it seemed stupid like the Facility and yet when people actually do want the ability to change clothes and spawn in their properties we dont get it?

It was never that people didn't want to buy the upgrade it was that it was always so expensive. Over a quarter million in some places to add a bed and wardrobe?

While riding to my supply mission I winged a 3 star deer, so instead of wasting time letting it bleed out, I shoot it in the head...now it's a 1 star deer.    🤬

Consider the opposition is using tank cards and tonics most likely.

I've watched a bunch of showdowns, and headshots are pretty much it, or a close shotgun to knock them down.

You can walk around Valentine or Saint Denis and see at least twenty unique styles they could add. Whos idea was it in the first BIG update (Roles) that we should get two neckbeard beards and Mister Miyagi's beard. Does anyone actually use them seriously?

And every new GTA property includes a FREE bar..... yet no free snacks, what people actually want. And you know.... it'd make sense for your Arcade to sell snacks for side income?

I'm still pissed off that we couldn't have a bed(And a "join session in shack" ) to go along with it, like we can do with our camp(But that's broke as f*ck lmao). I mean that'd give people more incentive to space out their properties rather than keep everything clustered for conveniance sakes as we can't swap sessions and be instantly there.

Like I purposefully picked Tall Trees as I love Blackwater and the surrounding area, hoping I'd be allowed to spawn in my shack.... but nope!

And having a "Guaranteed" spawn point in every state would be amazing, cause the game's utter sh*t when it comes to picking a random spawn for states. When I choose "New Austin", hoping for Tumbleweed or Armadillo..... it puts me near Thieves Landing! And "New Hanover?" Roanokee Valley..... which is a state of it's own, nowhere near Valentine!

it is annoying that you can't shave down the beard style to different lengths...I like the beard my character has but want it shorter.  Went to the barber to see other options and liked one other, but not for the price.  No trimming allowed at the barber apparently

On the bright side, look at it this way: They just need to give the PC players two or three months to build up their gold/cash/time in the game before rolling out the grand Limited Stock Clearance sale. This way they have both the means and the impetus to burn off those reserves.

The benefit of purchasing a sleeping quarters isn't the ability to access wardrobe, it's being able to use that location as a starting spawn point. Any property that has a sleeping quarters add on, can't be used as a spawn unless you buy one.

Shoot animals to bleeding out costs 1 star. if you kill it while bleeding out, another 1 star. So this is why it goes from 3 to 1 star ;)

Another thing R* and listen good.

How about you go f*ck yourselves over the fact that we lose TWENTY FIVE PERCENT of our Moonshiner profit if we lose one Bottle. One f*cking Bottle and it costs us 25%. No sane person would think that's acceptable and those that would have been shot in the f*cking face.

So if a fly so much as farts in the wagons general direction you lose 25 percent of your total cash. If someone decides to be a dick there is no possible way you can save your full price. All it takes is for one bullet to hot the wagon and poof gone. Going off road continuously grinds way at the cargo, stuff running into your wagon damages it. Could we have got a Perk that wraps the bottles in straw as the last Perk? Noooooooo, lets make it so that random "rescue" event happen less.

My best guess on this is due to the number of random events trying to fire in the background (hideouts, rescuing, follow the dog, etc) and just the sheer amount of stuff added since the release (also, like you said, lobby size). All of this adds overhead in the cloud and/or over the network. Personally I think it was starting to show bad signs before the FP update and then adding more sh*t on top, it was bound to have a negative affect without some type of optimization.

That's the thing though, there was nothing added between FP and Moonshiners. Everything you listed was already in the game, and like I said, I had no issues until maybe November. There's no way in hell I would've been able to, or attempt to rank up Trader as fast as I did if this sh*t was going on back then.

Somewhere along the way lobby size became a issue, or the issue, otherwise they wouldn't have addressed it in their unsuccessful patch notes.
