Bastards. I've said this before but I maintain that for defensive mode to work properly, the aggrieved player should be put in god mode with lock on enabled to go to town on griefers. Otherwise all these loopholes just benefit the sh*theads.

Only problem with this, is that greifers themselves will find a way to abuse it, for sure. Already today I had some noobstick ( HE  WAS IN DEFENSIVE MODE, mind u) with a dynamite arrow trying to volley me as I was fast traveling this morning. menu came up as he let fly, lol. that being said, the game needs a way to register the aggressive players, like the ones aiming at passive/unarmed players, or the ones shooting first.

Defensive mode is a piss poor attempt at passive. 

When you're invulnerable at the butchers or whereever, that should be defensive mode, except you can't use your weapons on players and they can't use theirs on you.

I shouldn't still have to be concerned whether I can get sniped or dynamite arrowed whilst in defensive.

Whoever came up with the concept of what we have should be fired.

Rockstar doesn't care. I play a lot less now because of other games and systems but the first thing I do whenever I decide to play is look for the latest solo lobby glitches. This game isn't worth anything without a solo lobby where I can avoid Rockstar's idiot griefer squads.

I’ve said this from day 1.  Truth is R* only cares about selling cards,  forced pvp while doing anything breeds frustration and in turn breeds card sales from players that want the latest items.  Easiest solution would be lobby choices but R* wants the forced pvp on players,  otherwise the ways to make in game $$ wouldn’t be in public only lobbies in either game.

The griefing hasn't been all that bad for me since the update, though I do believe defensive mode does not give any noteworthy advantage over the players this system was implemented against.

Truth is, shared lobbies give rise to problems beyond griefing. The presence of other players influences the way I play negatively.

Take something as simple as a gang hideout. I'm rolling in there playing make believe that I'm some badass gunslinger and just when I pop my first enemy, a posse of rodeoclowns rolls in and tears through the hideout in seconds, leaving me in the dust.

I didn't get griefed, I wasn't mistreated in any way, but I wasn't able to enjoy my game either. And in this instance I can probably forget about pulling some gold teeth too.

Sure, griefers suck, but they're dealt with relatively easy. These rush-and-gun folk you can't do anything against as they're technically not bothering you. It's like feeding a dog prime rib steak prepared by a chef. You know it's damn tasty, but you have to watch that animal scarf it down without savouring the fine taste.

For me it’s depends on the mood I’m in, if I want to enjoy some free roam pvp I should have the choice of that type of lobby.  If I want to ride around and hunt in peace alone in a lobby I should have that lobby choice also.  It’s the simple solution to make players happy and the reason I haven’t taken this game seriously yet.  Griefing takes on many forms from messing with hunting/fishing to actually killing the player.  Enjoying the game for me is playing how I want at that moment.

It really is ridiculous that Rockstar won't temporarily cap the max players at 16 for lobbies until they get the animal spawns sorted out. Was just doing a trader supply mission and had to hunt a turtle. Players were at 18 when I started and not an animal in sight. After a few minutes, animals magically started spawning, and what do you know, the lobby was down to 16 players when it happened. They have those facts reported to them daily and they still don't do anything to alleviate the problem for us. Same thing goes for the camp spawning. They know it has to do with the number of players in the game and you can't even get them to acknowledge if they're working on it or not.

 

We're going to have to wait until they do a major update before they try and fix anything and with that they'll probably end up breaking something else that will have to wait for a fix. It's a never ending cycle. Our only chance is for people to find some kind of duplication glitch that involves not having a camp and not having animals spawning. They'll get right on that one. lol

Do you remember when GTA:O first was released to PS3 and Xbox 360? R* stated that due to memory limitation lobbys cab only support 16 players and no wild life. I think we are back on square one! And R* won´t acknowledge defeat in any form by cap the player base in lobbys or private lobby!

A second way to fix the issue is remove P2P system and use servers to play on like FPS games does!

 

They are just hopes that X-max 2020 arrives soon enough. i will not be in firm believe that next generation will fix this issue! But I hope that code lines that dictate animal spawns will get a overhaul.

Is this a console thing? Because on PC I constantly see animal everywhere. I’ve yet to -not- see any in fact.

Possibly. I play on both XB1 and PS4 and it happens on both. Haven't gotten it on PC yet so idk if PC is unaffected. When you see animals spawning, check the player count. If it's well above 16 then maybe PC is handling it better.

The posse system is broken...can no longer invite people.  The game says everyone is busy. 

 

I even abanonded my persistent posse and started a new one...a $200 gamble.  Didnt work.

5 minutes after finally getting my camp set up, do a supply mission, Crapps packs it up again.

15 more minutes before i can get it set up again.

Naturally, charged $2 each time.

Camp was set up in a BEAUTIFUL spot. Hunting was good. Join Condor Egg. Camp gets relocated to the ass end of Hennigan's Stead.  Animals vanish. F*** You. R*.

Spent over an hour today trying every possible method to spawn a camp - no go. Barely any animals either. Hello, R*, you are truly incompetent when foundational elements of the game simply DO NOT WORK AND HAVEN'T FOR WEEKS. It's as if you want the game to die. I mean, this has to be intentional at this point, right?

The problem with that is there's no guarantee you'll get a solo lobby, it's great when it works though (same with getting one through any of the other activities such as stranger missions, supply/sale missions etc.)

That sh*ts just weird to me, I've sat at the rear of the train and gotten at or near the top of the kill board plenty of times -_-

Not having any wildlife out in the wild in Red Dead is like if  GTAO had no fat npc tourist on their cell phones yelling to their loved ones about their visit to Los Santos, it makes no sense. The other day  it was as if  Noah came back with his ark, loaded all the animals in and took them to some hunting sim game on steam.  

 

R needs really fix this crap.

Yeah, this is annoying as hell in Salvage & Condor Egg too. But remember R* wants us all to "share" the western experience!

One method that sometimes work is start a posse and switch session!

Had one of those this afternoon! I think it is the same asshats thats runs around in the water in the fishing challange!

The few times I see plenty of animals spawning the game comes to life! Suddenly it feels amazing to ride around and see it all! So vibrant and fun!
