Sooo, that horse i bought that was supposed to be faster but totally wasnt? now it suddenly is, and afaik no patch between yesterday and today? Guess you get stuck with the stats of the horse you start the game with if you change your active horse? adding to my ever growing found-bugs-list..

Something in the launcher updated when I started the game last night and all my graphics settings had been reset.

I got quite a slide show when I got near a body of water!

 

A question: can you sell a horse after you upgrade?

I still have the first freebie, but don't want to waste money on incremental upgrades, I want to wait 'til I can get something quite decent.

Only level 19 so far.

Unfortunately, no. You can only "discard" them.

I assume you can choose which of your horses you can call, or do you have to go to the actual stable for that?

Ye you need to go to the stable and change your active horse there

It won't matter. I threw 5 or 6 sticks of dynamite at my horse in frustration and it just kept throwing it up in the air.

I knew something was wrong with my game when I had this crash and weird spawn ins last night. Today I load up PS4, put in disc. "Cannot start application error ce-30005-8" 

 

Basically can't play Red Dead. Other games work, be it disc or the ones downloaded from store, so the Blu ray drive is not damaged.

You can change this on the fly, you don't have to go to a stable.

 

Bring up the quick menu, go to the stable option, there's a speciality option, it lets you set your default horse for freeroam, races, missions and competitive (freeroam events).

 

If you change your default freeroam horse, the horse you currently have out will automatically be dismissed and the next time you whistle your new default freeroam horse will be summoned.

Try testing connection. That works for me when I can't load in without those disconnect errors.

It's not loading in, it is starting the game. I can not play RDR2 at all. I put in disc, which is clean like it came out the factory, start up then blue alert screen with error message and that's that. I can run all other disks and downloaded games just not Red Dead Redemption. f*cking f-a-n-t-a-s-t-i-c

Red Dead 1 did that to me. I quit buying discs after that. Only psn games now.

Sounds like a disc issue more than a console issue. Or maybe a speck of dust on the laser that gives issues with this disc. Have you got friends/family with a ps4 to test your disc in? Or maybe a game store? 
friend of mine had this issue with a GTAV disc and none other. At the end, it was the disc that got damaged somehow.

I'll try to get a friend to borrow me his disc for testing. If i could i'd open up the damn console right now and check the blu ray drive but dont want to mess up warranty yet. I cant understand how there is not a single scratch not even the lightest, and it simply stopped working from yesterday to now.

A tiny speck of dust on the laser inside the reader can cause trouble. Do you have a pressured air can?

Easiest thing is to try another copy in your drive to know if it's your disc or not. If all other discs work, there should be less of a chance to have dust bothering, but it never hurts to blow out any. It could be dust on the lens or on the rail the reader unit slides on. Minimal tolerances can change how the reader reads the disc. One other thing you can check on is if you can hear the reader head trying to find the start of the track on your disc. It will give a soft mechanical buzzing sound in regular short interupts. Taking the cover off of your PS4 doesn't do you much good, as you can't reach the disc drive easy from there, but you can check on dust inside your console and it doesn't void the warranty. There are vids on youtube on how to remove the cover of the PS4 Pro and also how to disassemble it, though I don't recommend doing the latter.

Thanks for all the advice bud. I been confronted to all sorts of mishaps with my consoles down the years so, yeah I know a fair bit about it. And actually dissasembled more than one. Problem's that it could be so many things... I am just very pissed right now but once anger settles I'm gonna try and figure a way to solve the issue. Unless it is a definite hardware issue I'll remain confident.

Just make sure you have a Horse or 2 in reserve with a saddle.

 

 

 

This is how I know R* HATES me. 

 

 

No matter where I moved my camp it would be there when I first got to it then disappear. 

 

Eventually it did finally de-cloak.

No problem. I hope you can get it solved. Eliminate the easiest possible causes first, to spare yourself a lot of work just to discover your disc is the culprit and any disassembly was never needed. Learned that lesson well myself.

I don't think I've seen it discussed much, but I really would have rather online be set post-epilogue. I know we'd lose out on some great mission givers (including my favorite boah), but there's more guns to be added, different mission possibilities with the ranches in Big Valley, and it would at least make the skinners appearance make more sense lore-wise. It's implied they're a newer threat to the Tall Trees region in 1905, so why are we dealing with them in 1898? Same thing with Armadillo, you're telling me the town's been plagued with cholera for a full seven years?

 

I know this one can't really be changed now, but it's a real missed opportunity.

Personally I'd rather RDO take place in an alternate timeline, not limited to pre or post SP.

 

Having RDO take place pre the RDR2 story or between the events of RDR2 and RDR only serves to either limit the game, or in the case of GTAO, make a complete mess of the timeline.

 

I don't think RDO should overlap into the timeline of RDR, but having RDO set in an alternate timeline in the period of time from just before the events of the RDR2 story to just before the events of the RDR story start to unfold would reduce the limitations created by SP events and open up narrative possibilities.

Oh, I fully agree. I've already assumed RDO to be its own timeline, separate and apart from story. Unlike GTA, there's no chubby hacker snidely referencing our characters. Sean never cracks at Arthur about "Some mute that I had running all over great plains." Our fight against the Del Lobo in Valentine isn't in the papers, nor is the successful robbery of Lemoyne National and ensuing gun battle across Saint Denis. We're already in a different world, I more meant just the post epilogue worldspace, with the ranches and the more built up towns and the rest.

 

If R* follows your idea of slowly moving the map forward in time it would be very cool, but I'm not sure they're willing to lock players out of the old map. And worse yet, unlike GTA, there's no reason to move time forward. Where GTAO sticking to 2013 would've hindered their ability to add new cars, songs, and other such things like that, RDO can be perpetually in 1898 with no issues. They're not about to add a 2019 Ford Raptor to the Valentine stables after all. And since there aren't precreated maps for each year in between '98 and '05, would they be willing to make them? I don't want to sound too cynical, I would like them to do something at least similar to that, I just think it's already a lost cause. I don't see time clicking past '98 anytime soon.
