I like hunting, it's peaceful and relaxing. I'm in the Heartlands outside Blackwater just skinning deer pelts to sell, sneaking up on animals with my bow. Practising my approaches. Posse of four cunts come along with explosive bows, hogtie me constantly. Kill me. I respawn. Switch session, hunt again, another posse guns me down while I ride back to the butcher. They blow up my horse. This game is a putrid mess of cancer. Not only does putting charges on them do absolutely nothing, there's no reward for hassling people constantly. And it'd be great to do some delivery missions without being bombarded with explosive arrows.

Without being able to use your Horse and a Wagon its useless. People think its a great Solo Player investment but you still need a group to capture multiple Bounties.

Being able to use your horse and the wagon at the same time would greatly help. Should the stupid wagon spawn too far away, you can use your regular horse to get your bounties to the wagon's location.

They also should change it to where bounties no longer "escape" if you get a certain distance from them if they're tied up. How can they escape when they're incapable of moving? It creates problems when you got bounties tied but your damn wagon spawns a large distance away.

Yes, that's similar to my approach also. My wagon carries more than my horse, so I use it more often. I also am able to enjoy the environment around me more. I use the missions and different PvP modes when I want to shoot 'em up but normally when I'm just cowboying, it's just me and my wagon. It's a shame I can't bond with the horse there as I can with my regular steed,

But I can't recommend doing this in a regular lobby--we all know what aXXXXXXs some players can be and Rockstar still encourages their behavior by keeping this environment toxic. I've said it before, I'll say it again--the only way I can really enjoy free roam is when it's glitched and I'm in a solo/passive/friendly lobby.

Ehhhh, it's not like it was a money breaking decision. Wasted way more money than that on Horses & Stable space in BETA. & I didn't know I wasn't going to like the role, but it's not a life or death thing. I don't disparage anyone from enjoying the collector role. I just don't, for myself.

There are those here who would like to convince you that the game's functioning "as is". It's been a problem since beta, & defensive mode helps a little. Doesn't really stop the determined a$$hat low I.Q.-ers. I've said before, that these actions should be rewarded with (very) high hostility & a bounty to match so PLAYER Bounty Hunters can step in & DO SOMETHING OTHER THAN CHASE F***BAKE NPC's. The Only interaction R* seems high in promoting seems be the negative ones. LOOK how long it took to get co-op free roam events. & It's ok to send a signal TO EVERY OTHER PLAYER IN RANGE that you're trying to score a EXTRA $125 on a delivery run, but nope should you be rocked, YOU LOSE ALL YOUR HARD WORK AN POTENTIAL EARNINGS! Good job you f***bake a$$wipes at R*.

Defensive mode is your friend, certainly while hunting.

You can't be lassooed. Fairly certain you can't be hogtied but would need to test and confirm. (anyone?)

Paint it black doesn't work on you if you have defensive mode activated i.e no dynamite arrows.

If solo, do local delivery only. I'd still recommend getting 2-3 crew members to assist.

I know what's it like to be 4v1'd by a team of explosive ammo / dynamite arrow players, it's not fun. Never again.

I maxed collector without it.  I just did it as a side thing as I progressed Trader and BH.

Collector is by far the easiest to progress. I started on it last, was more than halfway done on Trader and almost halfway way done on BH, and finished Collector first.

Anyone else spotted the problem with legendary bounties?

As in, R* finally adds decently-structured solo-able PvE missions (compare this to GTAO, which had around 80 at launch - !!), and they're:

- locked behind a (not insurmountable) paywall and role-play choice - yeah, owning a bounty hunting license is the sort of thing most people could justify doing (unlike, say, turning your camp into Cripps' meat market), but what if, say, you're a committed outlaw?

- designed with difficulty that ramps up every time you replay them - and this is R*, so "difficulty" = 'throw aimbots at you from all angles at the highest difficulties - and maybe turn off the radar blips at five stars, for good measure'. If you just want to replay the regular experience, you've got maybe a couple of replays before balance goes out of the window.

- (this is the kicker) limited-time only, which means that you've only got a week to experience them. I'm guessing R* will put them on rotation at some point - but there's no way to know if that'll ever happen, or how often R* will bring them back. R*'s already bad about not guaranteeing that limited-time items (like clothing in both RDO and GTAO) ever come back, so it's entirely possible that they've gone to all the trouble of making decent PvE missions with bespoke assets, and then ...make them utterly disposable. :turn:

I know it’s possible without the metal detector, but compared to all the things you can collect, the coins and other things you can only find with a metal detector give the highest amount of XP. And Rockstar loves to increase the XP on coins and metal valuables in weekly events, as shown on the newswire.

Long story short, metal detectors are reasonable investments for people looking to rank through the Collector ASAP, and make a load of bank with it.

Well, it's not truly passive mode, but the next best thing.

Still though, yeah I agree with the premise of your statement. A section of the community asked for a method to avoid being griefed as hard as they were. R* listened and provided.

If you undertake a long distance sale - or go hunting - whilst in offensive mode, don't complain if you get shot.

Yea, I used the wrong term. I did mean Defensive Mode, specifically the RDO one and not Passive Mode from GTAO.

I am no means justifying their actions, but it is partly your fault for not being in defensive. Since you were simply hunting, there was no reason not to be. Can't be lassoed, and griefers are much less prone to use explosive rounds because they would waste all their explosive ammo missing most of the time.

Defensive mode helps but only to a degree. You can still be killed, you can still be hassled.

My last three encounters--someone tried to run me over in his wagon while I was walking down the road; two guys repeatedly shotgunned me in the back while I was in the saddle; and someone crashed his horse into mine while I had a dead bounty and his partner shot me from the hill. I survived the first one but wound up pressing charges/blocking/reporting for the last two.

Leftover Pizza

I really don't know what game you guys are playing, but I must be playing a different one. During resupply or sell missions, or the few bounties I've played, I have never been attacked by any other player, nor seen one anywhere near me ever. Not even when I wasn't put in a solo lobby. Even just freeroaming, the player attacks are maybe 2 in a month, tops. As I've said in another post before, other players are merely names on the lobby player's list and a very occasional dot on the minimap. A few days ago, one of the daily challenges was to emote 3 players. Took me 3 hours to get that done in freeroam (yeah, I know I could have entered a shootout series to do it easy), while actively searching for other players.

I'd have signed up for this scenario during early Beta, but it's a real bore in today's much friendlier lobbies. Frankly, I have a hard time believing people still experience constant griefing from other players. Heck, even red dot players leave me alone when I happen to be near them. I got 596 hours played according to SC stats. The majority of those hours are played after the "no more Beta" update, of which maybe 10 minutes tops are not so good experiences with other players. Sure, I have been killed for no reason at all, but I kill back and settle the score.

Just an hour an a half ago, in DEFENSIVE MODE, mind you, a rank 62 & 116 two mouse posse decide to start crap & snipe me while coin hunting. Welllllp, Ultra Tank Mode  & some Dynamite arrows & Explosive Express rounds dissuaded them a few mins later.   A few more mins after that, I run into a very nice player who tried to give me a three star spotted pig. You can't stop players from being slack-jawed nimwits. You can only prepare for the worst. Unlucky for them I'm ok with free aim, & my satchel is FULL of fat, flight feathers & extra dynamite, ready for days like this.

I'm only getting unwanted attention from low ranks. I can't remember the last time a player ranked higher than 30 or 40 ish popped me for no reason. I got on for about an hour tonight, I was busy minding my own business when a rank 8 kills me and then my horse. I f*cked him four times with my shotty, turned his horse into burnt pet food and then carried on with my hunting and collecting. It's irritating but not as irritating as the disconnects and camp issues that continue to plague my sessions. Free time on week nights is too valuable to waste doing this, but I just can't put the game down... It's a sickness.

If you do the long distance delivery yes, but you can stay in defensive doing a short distance sale. Players are not given any incentive to kill you either.

The only time I ever get attacked these days is by stupid low ranks who don't know about defensive and how it works.

In the event you do get attacked you have the massive advantage of being immune to headshots as well as a strong innate damage resistance. I killed a posse of four twice now using this advantage, dispatching them all with my trusty sawed off shotgun. Its also been a known fact for a long time now that griefers can take you out of defensive mode by putting themselves in front of you and your horse and getting knocked over. Any time another player is riding past you, give them a wide berth. If they keep trying to get close despite giving them more space, then slow down or come to a complete stop.

Lastly I never put myself in a position where I can be ran over by another player on horseback or wagon easily.

You know, I was gonna Praise the game for how easy it to make decent money compared to GTAO and then I thought...we are still in the fledging years of RDO where everything is not insanely priced. In RDO we got ways to make good money before everything went insane unlike GTAO. In the beginning of GTAO everything wasx less than a million dollars, imagine if we got Bunkers when the Adder was the most expensive...? No-one would have had any complaints.

I just dread when everything is like five thousands dollars in GTAO for one new vehicle and we are still only making five hundred dollars per sale for three hours work.

@Leftover Pizza that is my experience as well, hardly ever get attacked. And I never put myself in defensive mode. Ive been playing without radar lately to make the game a bit more thrilling. I know the map by heart anyway, using the collector map to check where Im going so I dont need to use the ingame map. If I was to be attacked by hostile players, I would have turned on the radar again. But today the only combat I saw was me being dragged off my horse which became a fist fight after. I even strolled around st denis, doing a few dailies noticed a few red dots, but no one came after me. A player bounty popped up, and I accepted it. The guy died before I got there somehow. Another guy was fishing next to the body. I could collect the body without anyone even looking in my direction.

I hate anything that takes me out of free roam. So nobody go all "play showdowns" on me.

Tl:dr: this game is getting boring with too little free roam pvp

I have a decent stockpile of money and Gold Bars but what are we gonna do when everything is thousands of dollars and the best stuff is like fifty plus Gold Bars and we are still making a quarter at most of a Gold Bar per mission and five hundred dollars?

Look at the Kreiger from GTAO, 2.8 million dollars and the Bunker makes two hundred and ten thousand every two hours. That's thirteen hours of continuous play just to afford a single car.
