Again, I want a refund on my nearly $1K Klaudhopper. I'm tired of getting bucked off anytime a mosquito buzzes by. 

It's gotten so bad that I'm back on my red Arabian which has a much better temperament. Even when a Grizzly is chasing me. 

 

 

I love when I'm flying by a pack of wolves at 70 mph hour but my horse says "f*ck no, I MUST STOP NOW" and then waits for the wolves only to buck you off?

Pretty sure they have stripped out all the AI from single player and made the Horses Online stupid.

 

Certain Horse breeds in SP had mindsets and characteristics but those seem to have been removed in Online.

Soooooooooo.................... Thats why they can´t walk over grass and not fall over. Did a bounty yesterday and the f**kta*d to horse couldn´t find me when it had the brilliant idea of running out in to the water south of St Denis. The spot between the bridge and railway. Got stuck and couldn´t pathway to me! Had to swim out there and hope that the bounty on the horse didn´t drown.

 

My other complain about horses is the Breton!!! Bought the most expensive one and this is in the bounty hunter roll so it should be less afraid of gun fire and other stuff related to said roll. The darn thing is spoked by everything don´t know how many times I have been bucked off the darn thing due to wolfs. Normally a horse can defend itself by kicking and why R* didn´t implement this thing when they can kick us?

Yea, every Horse breed seems to have the "terrified" mentality. The flee at Gunfire, Predators, Snake etc. I remember my Shire in SP being a f*cking beast, nothing rattled that bastard. He would walk past Maxim Gun fire like it was nothing and I used to trample Cougars for fun.

Big cats is best dealt with a arrow to the forehead and bears are highly allergic to poison arrows....

 

And talking about arrows why can we only carry 40 of them? Would gladly carry less small game arrows and more of ordinary ones....

If I had the bow set as one of my shoulder arms and I didn't have to scroll through the wheel to select it, then wonder why I used the lasso as the cat mauls my toon to death...

in that role.

 

Also, my ABXY buttons seem not as responsive. -they mix commands(their multifunction set) and seem laggy

Yeah. A few months ago my online horse was a work of art. Now I'd rather jump on Cripp's back and ride HIM around the map than deal with the equine tardfest that the online ungulates have become. My horse will stop dead in the trail to avoid a rabbit, but will go out of it's way to run into any solid object it can find so that it can watch me fly through the air like a giant leather duster wearing spoonbill.

I've seldom visited this thread so I don't know if it's been covered, but I'm here because I see no individual thread about this particular problem....

 

There are a few comments above on the subject of horses reacting badly to gunfire / predators but my gripe is about the horses overall stupidity and awkwardness.

My friends have all noticed it too... Since the DLC they have been nothing short of infuriating to manoeuvre.

You end up with your horse facing into a corner and try to get out to the left, it will try to go out to the right.

You aim for a good sized gap between trees, the horse instead wants to head-but the tree.

I forced my horse to jump down a bank the other night. It wasn't particularly high, he was just being a d**k about it. When he jumped, he kinda circled back, crashing into the very bank we'd jumped from.

Last night I was wishing that we could shoot our own horses after three calamities in a row. A tree head-butt, a trip on a small rock and a crash into an NPC, EACH TIME spilling my carcasses.

 

They've definitely become way more annoying to control. I wouldn't mind if it was my input at fault but it's this damn collision avoidance AI assist crap that they've tweaked to be worse than ever.

GODDAMIT R* - GIVE US A SETTING TO TURN THAT CRAP OFF!! [Edit] Or down, lessening the effect.

I mentioned this on the Single Player forum before Online came out but was dismissed and told off for "starting arguments".

Your Horse has its own AI, stop fighting it. If you let go of the stick and hold A (X on PS4) your Horse will navigate obstacles itself. Slow down and do this and it will navigate between trees quite well. Spurring the sh*t out of it while pulling on the reins, like in real life, does nothing.

 

If you are forcing the Horse to go down the left-hand side of a tree but the Horses AI wants to go down the right-hand side you will end up in the middle and smack into the tree.

Me too here in the forum. These are probably the same people that say the arabian is sh*t and has the worst temperament. 
 

It seems that some people try to turn every word that‘s not criticizing rockstar into defending them. 
 

Anyway, I really like how horses behave in this game and I never had a problem with them which was not caused by me, riding like an idiot.

I dont have an Arabian in Online but the white one in SP was skittish which made sense, highest stats but bad temperament where as the Shire had the worse stats but was unfazed by everything else and all the other breeds where somewhere in-between or a combination of both.

Oh, I agree with that part. They seem to think that small rocks are huge massive things that the AI needs to avoid. That AI then fights with the physics engine and it all ends in tears.

But seriously, someone really has so much time on their hands and is clearly bitter about being booted from here. The GTA:O section has had this issue for a while now and with GTA/RDR adding gambling/region locking, only means all these petty children learning about how to hide ISP's and all that.

The AI is not perfect, I will admit that but people need to realise that yanking on the stick while furiously mashing the A button and then screaming and crying when their horse runs off a cliff is not the answer.

Thats actually not a bad idea. A certain board level needs to be achieved before any photo or video links you post are automatically embedded. Otherwise its just posted as text.
