Hey! Thanks for sharing the video! As you probably saw I can't spread it here due to rules on self-promotion, so I'm really thankful and happy you enjoyed it so much you're sharing it of your own accord!

Would it be possible for Rockstar Games to somehow add dialogue to our characters. Maybe a 100 different voice actors we could pick from or would that be too much memory? I liked the RDR multiplayer character insults. Played RDR online once (free 48 hr PS plus thing) didn't like the muteness (that's my moan).

Players attacking us (started with killing my friend who is level 21 for no reason whatsoever, they were both above level 100), we chase them and kill them even though they’re spamming Slippery and explosive ammo. I feel I’ve wasted enough ammo so I parley. They break parley somehow but not by starting a mission. Coming after us again. We go to camp nearby, flag raised. They kill us there anyway.

Cheating f*cking kids. Reported and changed session, I don’t even understand why people want to play the game like that 🤷‍♂️

Wow, only place I ever see SB is in PvP. & I never ever use explosive ammo to shoot first, that's just bad form.

Lol. This is not how it works. One or few actors record few voice lines that can be changed by pitch and timbre. This is very cheap, especially according to how many useless voice lines they have already made for rdr2, and it does not requires much of memory because modern audio formats of voice records could be very small..

The only problem is:

Rockstargames gives no f*ck.

There's a reason RDR2 has over 1000 voice actors - having a few voice actors and then tweaking their pitch to create new voices is how you get sh*tty sounding voices. It's the method of choice for a lot of low-mid budget MMO's but it's pretty horrible for the most part, it's why player characters in a lot of the games that do it are limited to grunts, moans and battlecries.

Also audio takes up a sh*t ton of space. Audio was one of the big reasons for the over night jump 8gb to 50gb when the current generation of consoles out, audio compression was insane back then.

It wouldn't surprise me if they added some sort of voice to our characters at some point though, it's a highly requested feature (and they listen to those sometimes) and I think there's a lot of stuff they want to add that's missing because they didn't have the time to put it in the game in time.

I may be in the minority, but I would not want my character to be given a voice; in fact, if that were to happen, I would probably just discard what little interest and hope I have left remaining and blatantly refuse to ever play again, despite whatever else may be added or changed in the future.

Maybe that's extreme, but it would absolutely kill my sense of immersion and we'd likely be stuck with very few variants to choose from, none of which would 'right' to me and would be identical to so many other players in the game.

I for one like the fact that our characters don't talk, both here and in GTA. I'm not much of a talker in real life and I'd likely find myself highly annoyed if they "talked too much" or if it were all automated and completely out of our control with what is said and how frequently it happens.

I don't think we should get some fully voiced character, who talks in cutscenes and stuff but I do think (and want) that we should at least be able to greet, antagonise and diffuse with NPC's just like SP. Just give us a bunch of variations of those, with a good few voices and we'll be gucci.

Basically I think less voice lines with more voice variety beats less variety but more voice lines.

I could probably live with that, as long as we could control when or if it's ever used. Yea though, please no talking in cut scenes or just randomly talking to ourselves. I cringe at the thought of that ever happening!

Yeah I would want it to be like in SP where I have to choose to use my characters voice. I don't need my avatar in the game speaking on their own, would make it feel less like it's my character and more like it's a character that I'm controlling.

Have anyone reported this to Microsoft/Sony? But if it only occurs in RDR2 then its R* problem to fix?

I can get the audio reverse bug and then go play another game or watch a movie and the audio is fine. It seems to only affect RDR2 for me.

I agree with you, a voice would kill it for me. I also would never want to play as a SP character. They got their own stories, in Online I’m making my own. But I can see why some players would want to ”continue their stories” in an Online mode. Sure, but I really don’t. Plus I wouldn’t want to see a bunch of Charles’s standing around looking the same. That’s just sick.

On voices: I think a very good compromise would be to be able to greet/antagonize and get just the same reactions from NPC’s as in SP, but instead use our character’s emotes.

As it is, when I wave at an NPC, they go ”Good day to you, miss.”. So make it so if I spit at them, they’d react to ”Antagonize”. If I continue to spit, it gets heightened like in SP.

I don’t know. Something like that would be better than a voice, in my opinion, anyway.

All that said, I really don’t think R* will change the greet/antagonize functionality at this point, I think it’s too late for that. But who knows.

Great point and well said!

I agree with you on the voices (and everything else too). Monster Hunter, Destiny, Skyrim give our characters noises but no voices. It'd probably get pretty annoying listening to our characters repeat the same generic dialogue over and over. (Think GTA IV online)

That is bullsh*t and lies.

First of all, there aren't even 1000 variations of NPCs in RDR2 world, and secondly, voice actors are actors not just because, they can change their voice, just like donald duck actor does not sounds like donald duck in reality.

Audio file formats for voice requires a very small range of frequency to produce voice and with modern compress methods voice lines just like in RDRM wont hurt performance.

That's more than a bit harsh, don't you think?

IMDb credits 862 cast members for RDR2. It wouldn't be that far fetched to think that by the time uncredited and cut voices are taken into account that the number would be over 1000.

Yea it's not bullsh*t and lies lmao. I'd go as far as saying that it's common knowledge at this point.

Audio in games takes up an absolute sh*t ton of space when you add it altogether. This isn't an amateur production video game, we're talking uncompressed audio to produce the best sound possible. There was a Squeenix game, an FF I believe, that was absolutely huge in file size for one simple reason: the game came with both the English and Japanese VO's as standard.

This is why we went from games fitting on 8gb DVD's to games instantly taking up 50gb BluRay's when the PS4/XB1 launched. Texture size increases of course played a part, among other things, but audio compression went out of the window too.

They either need to give us their so called defensive/offensive mode NOW or make friendly lobbies like in the last red dead online. Not every game needs to be focused around PvP. This is a role playing game for ffs, even Bethesda is trying to fix their sh*t show.

CrimsonFolo

Honestly I think the main flaws can be condensed down to

"Not Balanced" PvP -

Autoaim too strong, It should help guide your aim but not replace aim fully. It stays long enough so that you can swipe up and fire for a quick headshot.

Headshot instakill no matter what - Imagine you play CoD and the enemy shoots you with a pistol in the head and you instantly die or maybe you play fortnite and the enemy manages to tag you once in the head with a random smg or pistol bullet and you instantly die. Basically imagine any shooter game you play and imagine if you could get killed with one bullet to the head, doesn't matter what weapon it is. Is that fun? Would you enjoy that? (Unless it's a tactical or real life kind of game like Rainbow Six siege, even then, that game doesn't have strong autoaim to my knowledge).

How it should theoretically work is possibly have the head shot damage do a good amount of damage (maybe 50-90%) depending on the weapon and if it's a strong rifle or slower firing but more powerful weapon, then maybe have it be a one shot (unless you have the ability card)

Ability Cards usefulness vary - Active -  3 are useless and the other three ( Paint It Black, Slow and Steady and Slippery Bastard ) seem to be the only real useful ones. Reason being that from my experience, a headshot is always an instakill unless the enemy has the specific ability card/s. So why bother with health regen or anything like that when you can hit your opponent in the head. Even then, with the autoaim, you can easily line up and fire the next shot generally.

Passive cards - Only 3 I can see being useful generally, Horsemen could be good in freemode with certain ammo, Unblinking eye could be decent too as well as Never Without one. The other 15 ish i would say are pretty useless in terms of PvP combat.

The combat (in my eyes) should be that you can fight others and have fun as well as not being "too easy".

E.g. If I'm player A and there is a Player B, Player B should be able to head shot me and do enough damage that I don't die and I have a chance to take cover and try to heal or maybe fire my own shot back. For those who played the first Red Dead's online, remember how when you took serious damage, you had an extreme red and bloody screen with that "ringing" kind of sound effect? Something like that. The auto aim should also be reduced and break the lock as soon as you move the reticle ideally in my eyes.

Game should be realistic but also not too realistic. The movement system is slower than first red dead's online and the combat is a lot slower. They also make it that headshots are one shot. But then they add in ability cards and strong auto aim which is very unrealistic. If anything, free aim (with maybe a slight hint of lock on to appease other players) should be the norm and slippery bastard should have been activating auto aim instead of free aim.

We know that Rockstar isn't planning on free aim mode any time soon so If they atleast make adjustments to headshot damage, maybe the combat will feel a lot more fun and enjoyable (I don't find it fun to take cover behind something and just pop up and use the swipe tactic to insta headshot/kill people nor being able to lock on and kill someone a distance away)

and

Content  -

Honestly there's no real content in online.

What have they ommited from story mode - Robbing anything (can't rob any NPCs, Wagons nor trains and make money from it),

Gambling minigames (If there was an issue with gambling money itself, then maybe just allow it as a minigame at the very least with no gambling of money, they could have imported it from story mode to online if they wanted to),

Trapper (Gave a purpose of getting perfect skins and such from rarer animals as well, what's the pointing of hunting let's say a perfect eagle when you can get yourself a perfect deer for less hassle. Gave a use for animals that were not worth as much at shops and could also help to make clothing look a lot more cool)

Random Encounters - Helped to make the world feel alive and immersive. All i see in online are just NPCS in wagons or on horses and that's it.

and much more they could have implemented into online in some way.

While you can state that they never promised any of this (which is a valid point), I feel that it would kinda make sense to be able to rob people in online (other NPCs, not players) or have the gambling minigames? (A feature present in the first red dead's online)

About what we currently have -

Missions - Barely any at all. (Gives it an unpolished feel)

Stranger Missions - Not really that fun and doesn't make sense why it's broadcast to entire sessions(e.g. Bonnie says fetch my wagon, and then sends other players to take the wagon off those Players??)

Free Roam Events - Not interesting at all considering my points regarding PvP.

Hunting - Good at the start but gets boring after a while

Fishing - Ok but got really boring for me.( Especially because you can't stack big fish and sell a bunch)

Saloons - You can get a drink and drink it.... and that's about it. No arm wrestling or any other interaction besides players using voice chat with each other.

Gang Hideouts - short, can't repeat, same thing at each hideout, only available at certain times, no thanks.

Treasure maps - Decent addition to the game

PvP Modes - A lot of them have a respawn balance issue. Especially when you need to go to the enemy side for an objective, It will spawn the respawn the enemies there and they can easily gun you down resulting in quite a few matches being a stalemate. Alongside a few other issues and the PvP issue i mentioned near the start, they're not really fun (atleast for me anyways)

Horse race - no thanks (Doesn't translate well into the game.)

Updates - It's going to take roughly 6+months for the first real update? For a Triple A game? No real excuse for that unless they barely have any staff working on the online.

To summarise, It's basically boring af because the combat is not rewarding/too "catering" and there is no real content that would have a player playing unless this is the only game you play or if there is another aspect that you really like.

Yes you can state that it's a beta or whatever but betas generally wipe your progress when it fully releases but RDO will not do that. This suggests to me that it's something they added on to dramatically reduce the negative feedback. e.g. "RDO Online has barely any content" ---> "That's because It's in beta/is a beta, so It's normal for it to be like that".

Compare it to the GTA V Online release which had a similar premise in long lasting content (but arguably has more to do content than Red Dead Online on release.)

The next time I comment in this manner relating to Red Dead 2 is probably when that update comes out. Hopefully I will have positive things to say about that. I have a few more points but I might just put it into another format or something to finish off on my views.

Yeah, the defensive/offensive update will bring me and some others back to see if the game is playable then. I shouldn't have to play in a glitched solo lobby to get joy out of this game, but that's where I am now.

Tfw i get more money idling in certain gamemodes than actually being good at others:

This is an extreme example, but i make more money by doing nothing in most wanted than in modes i actually enjoy...

Why do players start sh*t and then choose to parlay when you get a revenge kill?  Don't start whatcha can't finish.

It's really unbelievable that they've let the game get to this state after the huge success of the SP story and the momentum they had. I want to enjoy this game, but it's nearly impossible with just nothing to do. On top of that the few things that you can do, often don't work. It's amazing to me how bad they dropped the ball on RDO.

I both agree and disagree with that. But only because I force lag out of public lobbies in GTAO to sell things/RP in peace. It would be great to hunt and fish in without worrying if a random asshat is going to kill me and I'll lose my perfect caucuses. Hunting is my primary source of money as I HATE every mode R* comes up with.
