The Red Dead Online B*tch & Moan Thread

It......sort of feels like the original Redemption's multiplayer, but with the sh*ttiest and least desired parts of GTA Online slammed on top of it. And this retarded microtransaction economy they've settled on feels as if it were taken right out of a free-to-play mobile game

I looked forward to Red Dead Online for so god damn long and getting smacked with this nonsense has given me an actual headache. I do expect decent changes to be made down the line but the damage has already been done. Even for a beta this just isn't right

Sorry to past a link article from Polygon.

Red Dead Redemption 2’s lack of a power curve is a problem.

It has really good points.

@HamwithCheese My RDR online unlocked today and I believe I'll be playing FO76 tonight...and I'm a R* fanboy.

altough i don't think it will be too long before they will add the hot air baloon in online which ofcourse will be a sniper griefer's dream.

If only they would give us flaming arrows, and a parabolic arc path for them, so we could hone our skills setting hot air balloon baskets on fire.  That would be a nice countermeasure.  👍

This is exactly what I have been saying:-

Quote

A day after launch, Red Dead Online is intent on maintaining the tone of Red Dead Redemption 2. I’m not sure how many players will grind for dozens of hours for a different shade of horse. After six hours of gameplay, I already had 90 percent of the tools in my tool kit, with little desire to drop hundreds of dollars of hard-earned currency on a slightly different repeater.

There will be nothing worth playing for.

Its pathetic that half of the bad critisism here comes from people who havent even played RDO yet and just seen some vids..

Ive got 6 hours in so far, did some story mode and some hunting and some last man standing, and i like it a lot! i love this complete map available to free roam online, sure there's bits and pieces which can be better, but i was positively surprised..And its just a BETA fase!!  Some of you guys are just lazy spoiled people.. probably cant even code a line themselves but when there's a bitching opportunity here they are..

Dont get me wrong, it sure has some flaws which could be better, but give them the chance.. its early beta stage.

I had no bugs, no glitches, no lag (even in full lobby) no disconnections.. but nothing about that.. lets just bitch and moan and be spoiled brats.

For me it was also a positive experience theres just as much wildlife as in singleplayer, i would have thought this would be dumbed down massively.

no option to do minigames like poker or blackjack is the only let down for me so far.

I share your feelings but to be fair, we have all seen this before in GTAO.

Please leave massive feedback to R*

Most people haven't finished chapter 3 because the open world is so fun that they don't feel pressured into moving forward.

I spent 4 entire real life days (almost 100 hours) in chapter 2 alone.

I think most people here have had a go at it, and their deflation probably stems from having what they expected, actually realised.

And that "let's see you code this game then" type of schtick is a massive fallacy, because we aren't a multi-million pound software developer flogging their latest product are we? If you are going to use that line, then nobody ought to be a critic of anything. I don't make cars, so I can't criticise my car. I don't make music so I can't criticise a new album. I'm not a film director so I can't criticise the latest movie.

Gamers are natural moaners, of that there is no doubt. But to my mind, we're seeing a very wealthy developer scrimp and revert again to the same kind of cash grab as the last outing. It just gets a bit tiresome you know?

Especially when you recall past glories.

I mean, I haven't even started chapter 2 because it's so boring and clunky to play.

Assisted aim makes me puke, I was just riding my horse and nearly got killed by some noob that just simply locked on.

I'll wait until free aim is available online this is just f*cking pathetic

Also was just doing a mission and the two aa noobs left so I couldn't even complete it.

Same. I'm bored of it. I got as far as Chapter 3. I actually fell asleep holding the controller with my horse on auto-pilot to one destination.

Ha!

But in all seriousness, just how much time / money are people going to be bothered to invest in customising their horse's saddlebags and mane for example? I do think that multiplayer derived games will be the way to go ultimately, but there has to be a plan about how much content can be realistically introduced over time to keep the interest levels up. With a contemporary title you can pretty much do that, but a period setting like this? I think that interest will wane very quickly.

Hopefully, Online becomes a f*cking disaster and Rockstar is forced to either

1) Rethink their approach to multiplayer.

2) Sell quality singleplayer DLCs.

I just logged onto RDO and found myself surrounded by several bugs...

First thing I noticed was my facial hair was missing. Instead my male character had been graced with a shiny red lipstick. Yes, lipstick!

I also got to see all those burned boats lying on the streets in Saint Denis. I've seen others have experienced the same bug.

Also, I tried re-entering RDO to see if my character would go back to normal. Nah, just spawning right by a posse of pink dots in two separate session, all insta-rushing towards me.

I think I'm done with RDO for now. I'm waiting till the beta phase is over. If they'll add other session options and/or passive that is.

Just a heads up, if you delete the patch or haven't gotten the latest one, seems you can't even play single player. Not sure why my PS4 keeps deleting patches. I think it's designed in such a way that if your game is on the external drive, which takes forever to be read, even on a Pro, then the console thinks you don't have it installed, and will try installing the disc again if it's in.

Definitely my last gen gaming, lol. The amount of times this generation that I've been unable to play my own games, from being locked out from my internet failing, to needing to download the 3rd 20gb patch for a 30gb game, has really killed gaming for me. Not being able to play my single player games because of internet connection and patches, is the final nail for me.

When people challenge others to "make a better game", it's a stupid thing to say.  If I'm on board an ocean liner, and the captain crashes it onto a load of rocks, I'm entitled to complain about his terrible abilities as a captain, without me having to prove I could do a better job.

Left an honest comment in the Praise topic and i'm gonna do that here too.

Ingame economy is bad, like all of you already said. Clothes locked behind paywalls, the disgrace with fishing rod, forcing gold bars upon players, etc. Everything is on point. No need to repeat that again so i'm gonna focus on Gang Matches, i mean Showdown Series(LOL)

Someone wrote earlier that he doesn't see how is RDR 2 online inspired by original RDR multiplayer, like Rockstar stated. Me too brother, me too.

The someone again wrote that he waited RDO for so long since he's a huge RDR multiplayer fan. I can relate to both of those comments. I really do.

1. Gang Matches or as Rockstar now calls it Showdown series: I don't understand why we can't choose which gang match we play. 1st we get normal deathmatch, after that it's some garbage mode they've come up with. I don't wanna play Battle Royalish tragedy and again it's forced upon us. Why can't we choose good, old team deathmatch with 2 teams and guaranteed showdown? It's shocking.

2. Ammo and default weapons in Gang Match/Showdown series: Haven't checked it properly but i'm pretty sure we're wasting our ammo. Was same weapons and ammo capacity for everyone too hard? You know, like in RDR1 multiplayer where each map had it's own weapons?? Gonna mention it again, Rockstar said RDO is inspired by original RDR multiplayer.

3. Grab The Bag and Hold Your Own: If my memory serves me right, these 2 gang match modes were most popular and most played in RDR multiplayer. Everyone played them!! Lack of these in Gang Matches/Showdown Series was hard to swallow. Seriously? Ignoring 2 most popular "team vs team" modes and replacing it with lame ass battle royale modes is disgraceful.

Deathmatches really feel awkward and not at all like a western without classic standoff at the start. I even miss the Voice Guy. I'm sorry Rockstar, i don't see how and where RDO is inspired by RDR multiplayer. I waited this game for so long. I'm in shambles.

Team Deathmatch system needs a complete revamp.

RANT OVER!

Oh yeah, definitely a fun week.

It's all good, helps highlight crap if people take the piss a bit and folk point out the pap.

Fallout 76 sucks in different ways though, really disappointed with how Bethesda half assed it.

Would love the second option. Episodes from Liberty City and Undead Nightmare are quality SP DLC's

Same. I had a stubble but then it went to clean shaven with no way of getting stubble back.

-

No invite only or closed crew session is beyond frustrating. I don't want to play with randoms who just want to kill for no reason. If I could play with whom I want, that would be much better.

Also has anyone noticed that the world is...dead quiet? Went to blackwater and there wasn't a single animal nor NPC's which was a bit of a letdown.

But I do also understand it's a beta and the aforementioned could be just a glitch or something to be corrected.

I learned that it costs real money to change your honor ahem I mean gold bars - it’s pretty much the same things.

Gonna be real and say I don’t see any of the stuff that costs real money worth it. In ways this feels just like a mobile game with how many paywalls are present.

Also I’m a bit salty that some of the best stuff from SP is not in Online (yet)

Hair growth mechanic, stores robberies, populated cities, gambling and several other things I can mention.

Lol I can't even begin to start playing, because I've been trying to create a half decent looking character for hours.  I've deleted it 3 times to start over again and again.  I hate R*'s character creation menu.  They always completely screw it up.  They should follow Saint's Row 2's customisation.

RDR2O brings the worst aspects of GTAO’s micro-transactions. If they don’t change it this game won’t last too long. Can’t see myself grinding hours for one outfit or a gun. Even Destiny, Fallout 76 (despite its issues) and GTAO does it better.

This counterintuitive, directionless, soulless, cynical mess of a gaming experience feels like a significant backwards step from R*.

Such a shame because the SP story mode is quite wonderful (until the epilogues, at least).
