No chance. Too many defending some of this sh*t and telling us we can't complain, or must spend more to have more right.

I accept we should write to R* too, but bitching elsewhere can help, as you just highlighted.

Yes, I think some folks here (including mods) are acting like Bill and Javier towards Dutch.

I can respect we each have our preferences and tolerances but for me, it's too strong a squeeze. Cash and playstyle.

No issue with PvP for those keen. Just I really see more in these games.

Its basic f*cking equipment. You should not have to buy a Fishing Rod nor a bow. Both should have been part of the crafting tutorial.

Sorry, players, you can't craft your own equipment any more.  You can't live like savages and build your lifestyle from sticks and stones and tree sap and mud and skins that you've collected yourself.  This is a civilized country.  From now on, you have to shop at Sears Roebuck & Co.  And we only accept gold bars for payment, by the way.  😕

Well, at least we can still eat the fish we catch.

Wait, I gotta buy a fishing rod?

Nevermind.

If their preference is to spend thousands of their real life dollars/spend dozens of hours a day grinding for months at a time to customize a virtual avatar, there's not much we can do for them.

I feel bad for them but it is what it is. I got my money's worth already with the incredible singleplayer and will enjoy it for the next decade and beyond.

On the other hand though, I'm really interested in seeing where RDO ends up. Like, how bad is the trainwreck going to get?

This thing has the potential to reach Fallout 76 levels of crapola.

It's possible, but R* crafted a great Single-Player once again, so they that going for them. Bethesda is f*cked all around.

You know, I really hoped this would be better than GTAO but nope, it's the same old turd with a different coat of paint on it.

Yeah, it's gonna be interesting to watch as time goes.

Though must be fair, if folks are happy to put that time in, more power to them. But if many are, I'm f*cked, lol.

Have we established yet what year RD Online is supposed to take place in?  I assuming that soon enough, we'll be able to buy a Model T for 50 gold bars, and then pimp it out, for twice as much.  😬

Anyone else come away thinking that nearly everything feels worse than GTAO (even back in 2013)?

- Apartments that are no-fire zones, and don't have some random weirdo hanging around all the time (on yer bike, "Cripps"... :rol:).

- A pricing model that doesn't do the F2P mobile thing of 'two currencies - one near-worthless one, another valuable premium one that you can barely scrape out through gameplay'.

- Reasonable-looking character models (even with the clunky "heritage" system), and decent general-purpose customisation options, that aren't all rank-locked or stupidly expensive.

- No weird forced storyline nonsense, where random characters talk in circles about random events we've never seen, like we're supposed to know or care.

- Session types that cater to players who want PvE/co-op over just 'PvP and random griefers or GTFO'.

- Insurance is a lot harder to come by, to the point where you can even lose things like exclusive bonus stuff - !

And on top of that, there's stuff that's just as bad as GTAO, which shows R* hasn't learned from five years ago, but without the excuse of 360/PS3 hardware limitations:

- Single-player clothing physics aren't RDO, so enjoy watching your coat clip through your legs all the time!

- Like with animals and props in GTAO, RDO seems a good deal emptier than RDR2 - but in this case, it's not wildlife but ...actual people in bars and around the world.

- Rather than setting the game during the expansive time between the end of the Chapter 6 and the epilogue, they've done the whole 'some time just before the story' thing, even though they've already hit that problem and had to say "screw it - it's now set after single-player" with GTAO. :beerhat:

Ha!

But in all seriousness, just how much time / money are people going to be bothered to invest in customising their horse's saddlebags and mane for example? I do think that multiplayer derived games will be the way to go ultimately, but there has to be a plan about how much content can be realistically introduced over time to keep the interest levels up. With a contemporary title you can pretty much do that, but a period setting like this? I think that interest will wane very quickly.

Ok I know this is beta, but have people found a way to mess with the game mechanics already? I was in my camp on a clear day and heard thunder and lightning sounds in the sky. Now this may be on Rockstars end ( I sure hope so) but if not this is not looking good at all.

Has anyone here ran into oddness like this?

Gosh it bugs me to bits when people try to do this (using bits and pieces of arguments copied over from reddit):

- Online has some bad grinding and QoL issues that need fixing!

"it's a  B E T A, everything in the game will change bro... seriously u should have known that it was going to be like GTAV Online just relax man"

- Ok then, maybe I'll hope that they'll add more content to Story Mode later on then.

"Rockstar already gave us like 60 hours of gameplay in story mode, it's unreasonable and entitled to expect any more content there, I already got my money's worth."

Yes.

@Arkane. Parts of my camp kept disappearing. Took snaps (can upload later) and told R* too though. But buggy out there.

yep.

they kept all the bad things with gta online but also removed all the good things.

even shark cards already seem to be a better thing because it is not a special currency and you can buy everything in gta online without those cards.

but so far in RDO i have already seen around 2 items that can ONLY be bought with gold bars. a duster coat and something else.

I’m usually not the moaning type, but some things doesn’t make sense. If I skin an animal, where do I use the pelt?

oh and in deathmatches. That killcam has GOT to go.

I'm gonna hire 8 of the Murfree Brood, 2 for each wheel on my lowrider wagon, to bounce it up and down to a beat, unless I can buy me some steam-powered hydraulics.  I'll have the baddest wagon in Saint Denis.  Then I'll get another group of Murfrees to lay down a beatbox line, ridin' on the wagon, and I'll stand up on the driver's bench and belt out cowboy rap that'll earn me more gold than I can ever spend.

Saw someone try to defend the 'F2P mobile economy' system as better than Shark cards, because "it'll prevent massive price hikes later on".

Here's the problem with that: that doesn't make all the original clothes, vehicles, etc. in GTAO any more expensive! You could steal a Dominator on Day One, and have one of the best muscle cars in the game (even now!) for nothing. Outfit prices didn't start getting steeper until Ill-Gotten Gains - and that was at the end of two years of the game, plus people earning big money through heists a few months earlier. And even before mission payouts improved in late 2014 (about the same time as Last Team Standing), there were plenty of affordable properties, vehicles, clothes, etc. with which to get started.

And from the other angle, what happens when (or if) players stick around for long enough to accumulate decent amounts of gold, or find the most efficient earning method? Suddenly, more people will be earning it through play instead of spending real money, so price hikes will most likely happen anyway, to keep newer things juuust out of reach and thus make some players resort to dipping into their wallets.

Either way it's daft. Makes a mockery of the honour system if we can buy it.

It'll be interesting what will happen between F76 and Rdo2.

1. Made a stupid decision but will improve its mistake, not being motivated to sell atoms

2. Made a stupid decision by being motivated to sell gold bars and will mold the game to reflect that

I really, really hope bethesda will stick by f76. Maybe they can "No Mans Sky" it and really show people something.

another thing to consider is how are they going to keep asking for money if they can realy only keep on adding guns and horses for so long without it getting tiring.

horses just don't have the appeal that modern vehicles have and the weapons can't get to crazy if the realism is still a factor, which it is because of the core and weight system still being in place.

so either they will after a while just get rid of the realism and start selling weaponized stage coaches and other wacky weapons and out of place vehicles,or they realse that the long term appeal of buying new things is limited because of the setting and realism they are focusing on and are therefore just milking the players ASAP before they run out of the option to do so.

altough i don't think it will be too long before they will add the hot air baloon in online which ofcourse will be a sniper griefer's dream.
