RDR2:O Breakdown- Blood Money

Hello there Peoples!
It's time to break down and figure out the new money making method in Red Dead Online, Blood Money. 

I got tons of questions. You got tons of questions. Let's figure them out together. 

The question we need answered:

• What are the activities?
• What are the requirements?
• And what is the pay?
   
• To start, meet Guido Martelli in St. Denis
• Capitale is used to run Blood Money Opportunities
  • Can be acquired through
    • Blood Missions (looting bodies, chests, etc)
    • Blood Opportunities
    • Fences
      • $3 Gold = 10 Capitale
      • $5 Gold = Hired Gun Kit - Bandana sent to wardrobe, bundle of ammo, consumables and gun oil, plus 10 Capitale
  • A max of 50 Capitale can be held at a time.
• There are 4 contacts that provide missions.
  • James Langton
  • Sean Macguire
  • Anthony Foreman
  • Joe
• They missions they offer are Crimes and Opportunities
  • Opportunities- These cost Capitale to start, based on difficulty (15 Standard, 20 Hard, 25 Ruthless)
    • Covington Emerald
      • The Covington Emerald is heading west from Saint Denis. Board the train, steal the jewel, and deliver it to Martelli's associates. 
    • The Ember of the East
      • A valuable Jewel is being held somewhere in Annesburg, the town is in lockdown. Bypass security, locate the jewel, and steal it. 
    • Il Sovrano
      • There's a meeting in Rhodes regarding Il Sovrano. Infiltrate the meeting, then find and deliver the chest containing the jewel. 
  • "Regular" Crimes- 
    • Pays in Cash and Gold, with Capitale as possible loot.
    • 20 minute time limit to get the mission
    • Missions: 
      • Clearing House
        • Raid some unsuspecting homesteaders who have been seen stashing Capitale.
      • Stagecoach Stickup
        • Stick up a lucrative stagecoach allegedly smuggling Capitale.
      • Back Pay
        • Find a payroll wagon and relieve it of its cargo, which is rumored to include Capitale
      • Dirty Money, Dirty Deads
        • Rout a camp of undesirables holding a secret stash said to contain Capitale.
      • A Lit Fuse
        • Intercept a convoy of explosives on its way to Bacchus Station. Keep your eyes peeled for Capitale.
      • Wrongful Property
        • Reclaim a cache of stolen goods from a gang know to hoard Capitale
  • "Multi-Part Story" Crimes- 3 separate missions, three separate payouts, no timer in between except after final mission. 
    • The Jeb Phelps Contract (3 part)
      • Aid and Abet usurped gang leader Jeb Phelps in order to track down his stash, which is rumored to be Capitale.
    • The Saloons Contract (3 part)
      • Retrieve Capitale and other valuables from saloons playing host to criminals and their underhand deals. 
    • The Dockside Contract (3 part)
      • Assist Martelli as he exacts revenge on those who have meddled in his business at the St. Denis Docks. 
    • The Railroad Contract (3 part)
      • Aid Martelli in his conflict with the corrupt tycoons of the Central Union Railroad, who have been dealing in Capitale.
    • The Bluewater Contract (3 part)
      • Recover the debt owed by enigmatic musician Bluewater John and his former gang.
  • There is a cooldown on each individual Crime (~40)

It scales up after some levels. Rank 6 already needs 800 xp.

Are the crime missions specific to each NPC or can you launch any crimes regardless of the NPC?

My summary so far:

 

The whole logic seems similar to GTA Heists.

 

Crimes missions are similar to stranger missions, slightly harder/funnier, a few of them actually have a storyline and are split in parts

 

Completing Crimes delivers a payout of gold, cash and XP (based on time, as for BH/ regular stranger missions) AND capitale.

 

Unlike what we initially thought, capitale isn't a monetary currency you can purchase items with. It is a prerequisite to launch a higher payout opportunity. Similar to preps / final act in GTA heists.

One opportunity was released for this week, it seems others will be dropfed in the upcoming ones.

 

You can buy capitale from the fence as well as part of a kit. I think the bandana in the kit is a new / exclusive item ?

So we have a Big Update for Red Dead,  which sounds like a Heist deal.

 

I just read bits on the Newswire...... And i this paragraph got me thinking.

 

• Anthony Foreman — reckless leader of the Foreman Brothers gang, found at Radley’s House in Rhodes or frequenting Doyle’s Tavern in Saint Denis

• James Langton — a famed bounty hunter of ill repute based in New Austin. James can be tracked down in Hennigan’s Stead or at his cabin by Lake Don Julio.

• Sean Macguire — temporarily separated from his gang, Sean is a serial thief and murderer. Visit Sean at Great Plains or in Tall Trees.

• Joe — closely associated with other lowlifes such as Micah, Cleet, and Samson Finch, Joe is set up in Osman Grove, New Hanover

 

Why can't Rockstar introduce some of those characters from the RDR1 story,  younger and earlier versions of there  life.

I find this mode boring, can't be bothered with this at all. Prefer the roles least we do something in free roam. 

 

Tired of repeating missions, they get sooooo boring.

Is there any benefit to completing the opportunity more than once?  It seems to offer about the same amount as legendary bounty.

I made the mistake of buying 50 capitale at the fence

 

So for me, playing it more would be a way to ditch some Capitale.

 

I'm liking these missions. They seem like good xp, you get some gold and $ but best of all they are SOLO!

I'm already quick draw pass level 11 or something, playing for a few hours after patching.

I don't know why people thought that, it works exactly the way Rockstar said it did. It said the Capitale

was to open up/pay for the Opportunities.

I think that is why I'm finding ZERO Capitale in all of the missions I did? I'm looting none, seeing none in lockboxes/chests/etc.?

 

So I think starting out and buying 50 of it at the fence was a mistake. You also get a coupon for 20 of them nearly right away with the Quick Draw pass.

So I've got to do that opportunity a BUNCH on "standard" (which was hard enough for me solo, at level 420), to bring that down so I see if I'm getting Capitale

when doing the crimes and junk. The EXTRA, like the coupon for 20, goes into your mailbox/camp box, but it seems like I'm not finding any in missions because

I have 50 on me. So you might not want to be dumb like me

Yep, that would explain it. 

And that Covignton opportunity is hard. At least the way I did. Non stop cops spawning on me the whole time. No way to lose them.

Sorry if this is too off topic but has anyone been able to use the new free roam mission menu I must now crazy I can’t find it. This is a new character though does anyone know if you have to unlock it?

When you visit the strangers, you will see an option for "Free-Mode Mission". 
Clicking that should open a menu that shows multiple missions. 
If you don't have this, it may be, and I could be wrong, because you haven't done your initial introduction mission with them yet.

Imagine if R* decided to change the BH/Naturalist roles so you now have to spend Role Tokens every time you want to play a Legendary Bounty/Animal mission. Don't worry, though: You will now be able to find additional Role Tokens through random loot chances on regular bounties or from raiding poacher camps. And if that is too grindy for you, Harriet or Madam Nazar will gladly sell you Role Tokens for gold...

 

...a week ago, this idea would have sounded ridiculous. But today-- it sounds familiar.

Is anyone else stuck on part 1 of every mission if they do it with a friend? I did the railroad mission (1st part) three times with a friend, did not progress, did it solo once, and suddenly progressed to part 2. This happens with ever mission, even with part 2 of the railroad contract.

That is strange. I haven't done them with anybody so I'll have to check. Sounds like a horrible bug.

Are you the posse leader or member?  I would assume it will only advance for the posse leader much like "Land of Opportunity" missions, or even the Legendary Bounties

You access the opportunities by visiting strangers offering Blood Money crimes.  In the list of crimes, you can switch the tab(L1/R1 on PS) to access the Opportunities.  You need the capitale to "purchase" the opportunities.

No, 50 is the max you can hold, I haven't reached it yet.  You need minimum 15 capitale to start the opportunities.  The cost is based on difficulty: 15C = normal, 20C + hard, 25C = Ruthless

Weird, I did it the first time when I had around 27 or so, just enough to do the Ruthless, but I did it on Hard
