Requirements Lenny's Mod Loader Installation -Place the "hardcoreMode" folder inside your "/Red Dead Redemption 2/lml/" -If using mod that shares catalog_sp.ymt, choose appropriate version in "compatibilityVersions" folder -Replace catalog_sp.ymt in "/Red Dead Redemption 2/lml/hardcoreMode" -Delete catalog_sp.ymt provided with other mod -If conflicting mod contains an "install.xml," edit it (not the one from hardcoreMode), and remove: <FileReplacement> <GamePath>platform:/data/itemdatabase/catalog_sp.ymt</GamePath> <FilePath>catalog_sp.ymt</FilePath> </FileReplacement> Description This is my attempt at recreating the gameplay elements from Red Dead Redemption 1 GOTY Edition's Hardcore difficulty for RDR2. Fortunately most things were able to be modified through the files aside from mission payouts and honor gains. The former is most likely tied to mission scripts, as well as the latter or possibly in a file that hasn't been located or hashed yet. -Maximum health has been reduced by half. This accounts for the extra health tanks gained through leveling. Level 3 before meant you had twice the health as an NPC. Now you're pretty much even, and Level 10 being the equivalent of the vanilla game's Level 4. -Health regenerates more slowly, and after a longer delay. Twice as long as a delay since your last hit before health starts to regenerate, and the amount of health that regenerates each "beat" has been reduced by half. -All items cost twice as much, and all sell prices have been reduced by half. Only thing I could not locate to modify was camp upgrade prices. -Reward/looting/drops for containers and NPCs have been reduced. Money and ammunition is the most noticeable with the amount of ammo retrieved from NPCs being reduced by half, as well as money. Some items from NPCs and containers are twice as rare now as well. As it stood in the vanilla game, there are some items that always have a chance of being found on a ped or in a container. I recommend starting a new game. You should be able to apply this to a current save with no issues, but what's the point? Currently incompatible with other mods that use a modified catalog_sp.ymt like Red Dead Offline or the John Marston Restoration Project. Compatibility files will be introduced at some point. I've done minimal testing so far, so if there are any game breaking issues or forced mission failure states let me know and I'll look into it. Otherwise, enjoy scrounging around the west!
