Rockstarsucks33
I was in hennigans stead last night and came across a wild dapple Grey Thoroughbred. I was already thinking the horse fence could possibly be added because of some weird interactions I've had with wild horses lately since the this past Tuesday the 6th. Has anyone ever come across a Thoroughbred in the wild? I usually only see Kentucky saddlers but I hang out in the heartlands. Any ideas or does anyone know if this wild Thoroughbred is common? kcole4001

Rockstarsucks33
Right but mostly I was wondering if anyone has seen this wild Thoroughbred? I've been playing since beta and I have never seen it.
kcole4001
I have seen the odd one from time to time (not counting when my own horse glitched to make a dupe somehow ). I also frequent the Heartlands mostly, mainly around Emerald. Also I'm running solo sessions on PC, so random stuff appears more often than in populated sessions. If you manage to hop aboard a wild horse for a bit (you have to hit the 'calm' button constantly) a 'break' prompt comes up but then tells you that you can't store wild horses or something, I forget the details, but the mechanism is in the game. They're not easy to catch, I lucked out when one got caught between 2 rocks trying to get away and I got to it on foot, I was a little west of MacFarlane's at the time. Krommer
You also can't feed/brush the wild horses/donkeys/mules. You CAN feed/brush the horses from the Hunting Wagon or Bounty wagon, if you own those. I found that out one day when bored, after the wagon got disabled or I blew it up or something! Then I got curious, tried it with bounty wagon too. It is kind of neat if you want to just hunt with that horse, which you can feed/brush the cores up, while having your regular horse follow. I've only done single player up to where I just opened the Horse Fence or something (also wish they had that in online ) However, then I got a horse I was going to sell but could not see it on the map? I assumed it would have an icon like when you get a wagon and take it to the wagon fence? Edited July 11, 2021 by Krommer

Well that's what I had always thought too, but after I had broken it it let me give it any horse provisions and brush it. It's cores were higher than the regular wild saddlers I see around too. Really strange. Can anyone confirm you can't brush/feed a wild horse? It even let me give it tonics. Only thing I couldn't access was selecting different weapons but it doesn't have a saddle so that makes sense. Edited July 11, 2021 by Rockstarsucks33 ... Caffeination
This is nothing new. Back when I first started RDO in mid-late 2019, while still stuck with the awful starter horse, mine being a grey Kentucky Saddler, I encountered that very same Dapple Grey Thoroughbred in the wild near Mercer Station. I broke it, rode it to the nearest stable, which was in Tumbleweed, and entered it. I expected to be able to change horses then, or at least sell the wild Thoroughbred, but the game plopped me back on my dreadful Saddler and removed the Thoroughbred. You can imagine how annoyed I was by this scam to force us to buy horses. Rockstarsucks33

It would be a great way to introduce a genuine cowboy/wrangling role. Built around breaking and selling horses and driving livestock.
