When did Grove Street get taken over by the Ballas?

When did Grove Street get taken over by the Ballas? i know it says by 2013 the Ballas had taken over Grove Street but year specfically did they begin to take over Grove Street and make it Ballas Turf/Hood? i know after 1992 is possibily when CJ gave up on the Gang Lifestyle what about the others like Sweet and all of them? what ever happen to them? did they move away or did the Ballas break into his house and kill him? and what about Ceaser and Kendl? did Ceaser give up on the Gang Lifestyle too and let Ortega take over?.  im just curious as to Grove Street fell into the Hands of the Ballas after all the hard work CJ Did in GTA SA

Probably between late 90s/early 2000s, Franklin and Lamar say GSF moved on and probably became CEOs or something.

Yeah I don't think there was some big gang war, most of the OGs just moved on and the Ballas started moving in.

Also, Grove Street Families is not and never was the name of the green gang in SA but rather the name of a set within the gang "The Families"... In the 3D era, The Families had 3 sets: Grove Street Families (GSF), Temple Drive Families (TDF), and Seville Boulevard Families (SBF)

 

In the HD Universe, all of the sets are different, but GSF also existed. Sometime in the 90's The Grove Street set was dismantled and with members moving out and on with their lives for unknown reason. Lamar even says that the set moved on and gave up the gang life, going as far to say that maybe they became wealthy businessmen. Because it's a different era/universe its possible these were other people and not CJ, Sweet, Ryder, or Big Smoke whom of which probably never existed in this universe. The only sets left in present day are the Chamberlain Gangster Families (CGF), Carson Avenue Families (CAF), Davis Neighborhood Families (DNF), and a new set started by Lamar and Franklin: Forum Drive Families...

Grove Street wasn't taken over by the Ballas because GTA V is not canon.

Whether it's technically the same Families/Ballas/Grove Street in the different universes isn't all that relevant in this case. Either way gangs fought for control of different areas and at some point before 2013 the Ballas took over Grove Street.

 

If we consider them not the same it could've happened any time since gangs have existed in LS, if we consider them the same there was still 21 years for it to happen and that's a long time. There's nothing in the game indicating exactly what year/how long ago so could've just been any time.

Not really... he said they existed in their universe... He literally said they were an old set that don't exist anymore and Lamar explains why in other separate dialog

 

It wasnt referenced, it was confirmed by Fraklin because he was asked specifically by Jimmy if GSF existed in there universe... and he answered yes

Still a reference imo for e.g like the one in hood safari where 3 dudes pass by grove street , Chamberlain Gangster families is GSF in HD , Carson Avenue Families is Seville boulevard families in HD , Davis Neighborhood families is Temple Drive families in HD. Lazlow is a very special character in gta universe tho , with radio appearance in 3D and physical in HD [also an OG employee (who left sadly)]. also Fernando Martinez one too

But it's not in your opinion though because Franklin and Lamar both stated the set GSF existed then disbanded... thats confirmation not a reference

 

The 3 guys riding bikes in hood safari is a reference as they werent named and it's was a nod to the SA characters... but GSF existing in the HD universe is confirmed by name that they existed by in game characters

 

And CGF is not GSF... and all that other stuff you wrote is head cannon and not true at all.  All those sets are separate from the 3d era and were not nods to the old sets of SA..

 

GSF existed in the HD universe... that doesn't mean it's was the Johnson family.. but there was a set named Grove Street in HD but but the lost their turf to the Ballas

You mean the guy at the door is CJ? I don't think that's even implied. A) There's an easter egg where three guys who kind of look like CJ, Big Smoke and Ryder ride by on bikes if you drive a certain way in that exact same mission. It's not actually meant to be them (since they'd be older and/or dead), it's just a fun reference, but it would be very odd if another guy at the house was also meant to be CJ. B) The guy at the house doesn't look or sound like CJ at all, and is too young to be him. And C) There simply isn't anything said or done to imply that it's him.

 

I'm pretty sure including things like the Ballas and Families, Grove Street (and Ballas in charge of it), going to a house in the same position as CJ's house was in a mission, and the CJ and friends on bikes thing are just some references/throwbacks to SA. It's not meant to continue the SA story to tell us anything about the SA characters.

CJ and his fam (or whoever the HD equivalent name is) probably up and left grove street since they were music producers for madd dogg. That probably enraged the OG GSF so they probably switched to ballas gang because the Johnson family created the fam gang, and they didnt want to be apart of it anymore.
