Red Dead Online: Blood Money - OUT NOW

Spider-Vice

Recommended Posts

I don't know whether to be excited about this announcement or just be safe and not try to let their hype get to my head?

And no I am not trying to burn R*.

Things sound exciting until the reality sets in, and I am hoping that for once R* does the right thing with this update.

Yes, it seems that most hear "cowboy" and think "outlaw." One of the reasons the single player wasn't of interest to me was the whole outlaw thing. Online, I'm able to play honorably, if I wish.

Yes, there will always be at least one Outlaw Pass with every update, it’s R* own battle pass type of thing and to lock some QOL things away from us until we earn enough XP to get them and even locking them away from newer players or those that did not buy previous Outlaw Passes, it’s how R* makes a little bit of profit off new players too that don’t haven enough gold to buy the pass 100 times over too like long serving players.

I’m missing the Fast Travel from the Wilderness Camp on Xbox as only started playing on Xbox when the game came to Xbox Game Pass, just sucks as much as not having Outlaw Pass 1 on PC.

Anyway, I digress, expect Outlaw Pass 6 and a Halloween type of Pass, or possibly just Outlaw Pass 6 and 7 and no Halloween type of Pass this year, or all three, who knows but Outlaw Pass 6 is pretty much 100% a given as I’ve previously state since each update we will get one!

Adam, on release day next week, if R* bundle an additional pass in the files, will you be able to work your magic and extract the details?

Only if you're able to and have time, cheers!

I hope it's a far sight better than OP5 was. Maybe in each OP they should throw in a thing or two from previous ones for those who weren't around when the previous ones were released. That wilderness travel is a huge thing. When I went onto PS one day I didn't have that and it really sucked.

I'd be OK with that.

I'd also be OK with them offering each highlight of previous OPs for an elevated gold price.
Call it 15-25 gold / each.
If they don't ask a certain price, it would devalue the OPs of the future and make R* miss out on MTX sales.
Some people would just say "I don't need most of the stuff in this OP, I'll just wait until what I want is sold individually".

After reading the newswire and watching the video tomorrow, I'll remind myself to keep expectations low.

Like the famous saying from Tennessee and Texas goes: ".... if fooled we can't get fooled again". 😉

I definitely wouldn't mind spending a little gold on stuff I missed. Like some of the camp flags I had on PS but not on PC cuz PC came out after that pass had expired.

Well, I guess people could wait but it could be risky since you wouldn't know if what you want will be released later or when. Different people approach things differently though. If I see even one thing in the pass I like, I'll get the pass. Others are like what you described.

I can understand that, you never hear many grand stories about the cattlemen, farmer, mill worker, or shop owner, who were the literal backbone of life at the turn of the century. Mainly because their lives were mundane, and the stories of the famous gunslingers and outlaws were typically dreamed about and fawned over by those same people just begging for excitement.

Not to mention that those stories were usually highly exaggerated for content.

The way I play my character is a complete neutral personality, he is going to do what he needs to do to get ahead and although he isn't out to ruin the lives of innocent folk, if they get in his way so be it. He's a survivor, no creed just a man bouncing from one day to the next as he has to. This way I am free to take on all of the roles available without having any of them really lift me out of a roleplay experience.

I wished the game would finally give us actual reasons for our characters to choose the path they take, like a family to care for, or a ranch/business to keep running. Right now all my character is, is just a chess piece being played from all angles.

Part of me really hopes this is a game changer. The other part has been burned too much with expectations (about many things in life) to prevent me from getting worked up. I am a little excited though.

I just want 2 things and im fairly sure they should be pretty simple to add:

w9Brkf1.jpg
1] Sell me a cast iron pan so i can cook multiple items at once

YABZSNW.jpg

2] Sell me a motorcycle small donkey (and let me 'level up' the donkey like we do with our horses)

I'd love this. Really love it.

Give us a ranch and some land to cultivate to support a family.

The last segment of story mode with John was one of my favourite parts of the game; he was trying to hold down a job and support his family, but was pulled back into the life against his wishes.

Having that sort of dynamic in online would open up so many avenues - maybe you came home one day to find your family was held to ransom and you had a number of missions to get them back and kill the bad guys.

Of course, there would be the multitude of jobs you could undertake to keep your ranch / homestead going, employing farmhands, growing crops, maybe stealing from rivals, feeding and selling livestock.

Maybe hunting shouldn't be limited to selling to Cripps or a butcher. Maybe you'd be incentivised to hunt to feed your family.

The potential this game has is limitless.

I know the above is probably pie in the sky stuff and whilst I'm looking forward to next week's crime capers, I long for more long-term stories and adventures.

Btw why is there prisoners hogtied in the newswire's picture? What do you think

I think he is one of Guido`s men and Guido wants us to take him before they take him to the prison, keep in mind that the update isn't all about robberies, " intimidation and unsavory crimes"

Unrelated but kind of interesting that DMA Design (Before Rockstar) developed a game called Blood Money.

Speaking of long term, is this new stuff going to be stuff that takes a week or so to go through then it gets repetitive until the next update 7 or 8 months away?

Most of the updates they've dropped have been fine but only for a short period of time and then boredom sets in for a loooooong stretch of time. A lot of discontent would go away if they'd just drop new content every month or so since they put out stuff that gets done in a real short period of time. They don't have to be big updates, just enough to keep people interested and occupied till the next one drops.

It's also a Hitman game if you wanna go that way. :p

Kinda typical idiom tbh.

There's also good potential in that for multiple player characters in one instanced session. Maybe my second character is my spouse, or my ranch hand, or a guard on the property. Just walk up and switch on command. More and more I just want a second playable character in the same game world (without switching via a menu) to freshen up the experience without starting on an alternate account where your cash is starting at zero.

Cautious optimism at best for me.

This is R* after all; notorious for over-promising and under-delivering.

I guess growing up in a household with old Westerns being played is what draws me to the whole cowboy thing. From the somewhat larcenous Maverick to the straight laced Bonanza (with tons of other Westerns in between) , that's kind of what I came to RDO looking for.

That's the thing, this game was advertised as being able to play any way that you wish, so all of us (or most of us, any way), can be catered to. I have to make "adjustments" here and there to play the way I want, but I'm satisfied, for the most part.

I really hope we get some banger new tracks in this update. The Frontier Pursuits re-working of "The King's Son" (trailer song) is probably my favorite piece in all of Red Dead Online currently. It would also be really cool to get some of the encounter/wanted themes from single player added into rotation. @IzzyBlues do you recall if those were around in the beta days?

Yes I will be able to do this, this year as far as now I'll actually be free when the update drops so I'll be able to extract most of it after it's released, at least for the content / assets of any future Outlaw Passes. If they're bundled with the update like the previous two updates have been.

It just takes a little longer to put together the Rank order, as I have to dig a little bit deeper for that information but the images of most of the Outlaw Pass content except for the vouchers of course I can do with ease, and as always I'll add the content to https://rdodlc.com for everyone's viewing.
