SOLVED: How do I rename Ped?

1. I extracted the Vagos female to my desktop from the original dlc (the 4 y** files)

2. I copied the 4 files to my Mods folder

3. I modified the ytd file to change some of the textures/dds files.

4. I spawned the new Vagos textured model with Menyoo - no issues.

5. I tried to rename the 4 modded files to spawn modded version separately from original Vagos but this generated error - invalid model.

 

So my question. How do I rename or repackage the 4 y files (ytd, yft, ydd, ymt) so i can spawn original and modded Vagos. None of these are text files, so not easily editable (except for textures).

 

I've renamed car addons and I've renamed streamed peds, but no idea how to rename normal peds. Looking for simple solution if it exists, don't want to package as dlc.rpf if i can avoid it.

 

UPDATE: Had wrong entry in peds.meta. So this method works, just extract your game files, place them in mods folder, modify whatever you want, rename differently from game original, spawn.
