What season should the story take place?

GTA games have usually been set during the Autumn/Fall. What if they decided to set it during a different season? We've never seen an entire game set during the winter months.

 

I kinda want to see a game set during the summer.

 

 

 

There is more crime during the summer months because of the heat in major cities historically there's always been an uptick in crime look it up. Cities also tend to feel a bit more alive we'd get NPCs opening up fire hydrants to cool off some people walking around shirtless, ice cream trucks. Also It'd be cool doing a mission during the 4th of July.

 

 

Winter could also work like during November/December where the city would be all decorated with christmas and holiday stuff.

No snow, at least not the whole map covered with it. About the rest I don't care and depends on the location, does Miami e.g. has other seasons than summer?

South Florida is quite warm all year round and it hasn't snowed in Miami in a long time. lots of rain and hurricanes in the fall. but other states in the deep south have other seasons. North Florida sometimes gets snow though.

It does get a bit cold in Miami like around January/December it may go down to 60F

It'd be great if we get to see multiple seasons, I'd love if the story takes place over a couple years, it's way more easier to do than what people want (80s to modern times jump). And it'd be great seeing colder seasons and then a transition to summer when Miami becomes better.

This is a good idea, but it fits more story driven games like RDR2 or Bully. 

 

I would like all GTA's set in summer, simply because there are way more activities to do, there isn't any fog and your cars won't glide on ice.

GTA 3 and LCS were definitely set in the autumn as well as GTA 4 which certainly helped with the atmosphere.

 

GTA VC/VCS were definitely set around August-September due to the hurricane warnings.

 

GTA SA probably took place in spring due to it roughly coinciding with the real life LA Riots in April 1992.

 

GTA V is probably late spring early summer, but the snow in North Yankton during the main storyline is a massive throw off, as it wouldn't be snowing in the Dakotas in the summer.

SA was set in the Fall-Winter. Since when CJ flies to Liberty City there's snow.

 

V is set in the fall I think. Some houses had pumpkins.

I want at some point a game in Liberty City set in the summer. NYC is not a dark depressing city it may look like that during the fall/winter months but come summer it's an entirely different place.

Isn't GTA V and SA set in the winter? SA being mid-winter and V being early or late winter into spring ... That's why the peds & protags/characters have hoodies and jackets in V... its also why St. Marks was covered in snow during SA

 

And wasnt VC already set in the summer around the beginning of hurricane season which is june.... and IV set in autum/fall?

 

That would leave spring as a unused season... unless III was set in the spring and we didn't know

Summer, because it looks nice, it makes me happy (which is not necessarily a prerequisite for a crime game where the tone may be dour, but it looks nice), and you can buy fireworks and use them as improvised explosive weaponry! No really, have you seen how dangerous fireworks can be? Perfectly suits the danger of the criminal lifestyle.

Summer. But I'd like it if the seasons changed throughout the story. Or maybe the seasons change in 'real time' if you play long enough. Or at least after the story is beaten. Sure, that'd take a long time, and might suck if you're stuck in winter. But it's a cool detail I'd like to see. Maybe it could just be optional.

 

Anyway, Miami in the summer just makes sense. Most places just feel better in the summer. Although autumn/winter New York is nice.

A really cold winter. Not in North Yankton though lol. But I'd appreciate the occasional snow, fog and rain.

I just love winter and early spring weather, plus they haven't properly tried it yet so why not.

This could work pretty well in prologue as it matches with some leaks but they're 99.9% fake.

I'd like to see 70's LC even if it's linear.

Mainland could be Southern/Central Florida with few Caribbean islands-Medellín/Cali

There is a problem that would come up If it is summer in Vice City. 

 

Just imagine how limiting clothes would feel for the immersion, wearing a cool-ass suit would feel unconfortable for our poor protagonists, have you looked at how f*cking HOT is Miami during summer? I know many wouldn't give a sh*t, specially as the possibility of the game featuring a heat system again (Like RDR2), is highly unlikely, but Idk.

There was nothing stopping the player from wearing a hoodie in the desert in GTA 5...

Well, deserts are cold at night, and wearing a hoodie in a hot, yet arid and dry place is way more comfortable than in a hot and humid-ass one

Honestly, we are at a point that they should implement changing seasons in the game. 
Forza Horizon 4 did a tremendous job with this, and I think GTA VI could really use this as well. Plus it could for example be used as a game mechanic: choose a heist / robbery to do first, after that you need to lay low for the heat to calm down. The one robbery is easier to do in winter, whereas the other is better for summer. This could make the game replayable in at least 4 different ways (Winter, Spring, Summer, Autumn) and would add a lot of depth to the gameplay. (n winter cars would slide on the snow and ice, whereas in summer you could drive over dried river beds, whereas in spring these rivers are full of water and in the autumn there is loads of rainfall. 

But if I where to choose one season:
If south USA: Summer, If north USA: Autumn/Winter
