Unable to get through Install Process GTA V on PC

Greetings,

 

I'm an old geezer trying my hand at playing GTA.  I purchased on Amazon.  The first time I tried to install game it stopped on disk 5 with the following error:  Feature Transfer Error, Component:  Everything, File: Data8.cab, Error: Data Error (cyclic redundancy check).  As it took well over an hour to install, I tried again a few days later and received the same error only on disk7 (I almost made it).

 

I tried to join the Rockstar Social Club and even had difficulty joining.  I kept getting errors so I did not join.

 

I very much appreciate any advise users or Rockstar folks can provide.

From what I can tell that means it's having problems reading your disc, which is either a disc problem or an optical drive problem; the usual thing to try first here is to gently clean the disc with a soft, preferably microfibre, cloth. 

 

As for Social Club, knowing the specific errors will help with joining that as well.

Thanks for the response.  I was able to get a note sent to the Social Club.  I will try to clean disks and attempt load again.  Many Thanks for the response.

Its def a disc read error. I also bought the disk version a long time ago and if I do not clean the disks every time I put them into the drive I get the same issues. It can be a pain but once I started cleaning the disks when putting them in the cd rom I don't get that issue.

"Old Geezer"? Everything is relative young buck! 

 

Do you have a decent internet connection and a computer made in the last 5 years that has an SSD?

I'm not an "Old Geezer";I am a Crusty Old Man...and proud of it!  

But I am am also still working in IT and have been a Geek since the days of punch cards.

 

I take it you are on a PC???

 

If so,and you have a decent internet connection,just take the hit and trash those discs. You want to goto Epic games,Steam Games, or my favorite, Gog games and buy the download version. You buy Grand Theft Auto 5 (GATV) and then download it. You want the Grand Theft Auto 5 with Grand Theft Auto5 Online and the Criminal Starter Pack.

 

Do that and get back to me.

 

This game is worth the trouble.

 

It will aggravate you to no end,but will make you jump for joy. Mostly jump for joy. Otherwise I wouldn't recommend it.

 

Besides,after I show you the few ropes I know,we can team up and finally I will have someone to myr back while I shake my fist the these publess dead twerps while screaming "AND STAY OFF MY LAWN!!!"

(It sounds sick,but trust me,these twerps deserve it)
