RamsaySaint77
The Degenatron changed the world as we know it, before the company's first arcade cabinet came out in 1971, video games only existed as mainframe or text based or through primitive computers in the 60s Before video games became mainstream, The only arcades were bars to play Pinball at The console is a gaming icon that will heralded for years and years to come and any kid from the late 70s and early 80s still cherish it to this day The first video game was created in an analog computer in 1958 which was a tennis based game, which ironically The Degenatron company's first game was tennis based The Degenatron wasn't the first gaming console, but it was the first truly successful one and it changed the gaming industry forever Without The Degenatron, the gaming market would be a very different place The Degenatron was developed by the company as their foray into the home console market after releasing several arcade cabinets in bars since another company had released their first home console and did so successfully with The Spatium Destiny. The Degenatron would see release in late 1977 with two versions, the coin operated version with three built in games which was the cheapest model and the cartridge based model which was costed a little more money and required you to buy separate games, both models sold well but not to the expectations of the company. The games were rather basic and nothing too special, the really worthwhile games wouldn't start appearing until later As a few years went on, The Degenatron sales increased and it became the hottest item for kids and virgin nerds Several gaming classics came from the console like Penetrator, Defender of Faith, and Monkey's Paradise The Degenatron was undefeatable There was controversy around The Degenatron at the time with parents and the media blaming it for making kids "Dumber" However, by 1982 the gaming market was oversaturated with third party companies releasing countless of varying quality and signs of trouble were starting to show and the finance of the was declining as they weren't benefitting from third party releases In 1981 and 1982 the computer gaming market was starting to show and rise up as a way to compete with the Degenatron, computer games back then used floppy disks and were more advanced than the Degenatron and they started outselling Degenatron's around 1981 and 1982 The company still released new games however they got overshadowed by the awful third party games One game was so bad that all the remaining copies were either destroyed or buried in the deserts The poor quality of a lot of the third party games caused a lot of people to look negatively on the console and people would just stop buying Degenatron games or consoles all together The arcades also went in a bit of a decline during this time The only place where the gaming market did well was with computers By the time of the crash of 83 and 84 the home console market was seen as dead and computers as the way of the future Degenatron did continue to make and sell games, but hardly anyone cared to buy them and it seemed hopeless after so much success However that same year the home console market was saved by a newcomer called Kaihatsu Edited June 22, 2021 by RamsaySaint77 Ivan1997GTA and JetNormalGuy
