Why is rockstar shutting down the servers for gta v on 7th, and max payne 3's multiplayer but not the servers for gta iv

I get that rockstar might not be shutting down the servers for gta iv so players can relive some memories from the game but if they're gonna shut down gta v on 7th gen and max payne 3 they might as well shut down iv because the game is way too old to still have their servers up

GTA 4 servers have already been shut down as far as I know, I do not play the game anymore but I am sure I heard that it was stopping a few years back now.

Anyway, the reason IV isn't getting shut down is because there's nothing to maintain/track for it from their end, players don't own any properties or anything. Everything is probably handled entirely by Xbox Live/PSN and locally.

I'm not sure how/why Max Payne 3 is any different, but that game's multiplayer wasn't any good anyway.

Only the PC servers were shut down I believe. The console versions are still up and running, for the time being.

Games For Windows Live is still functional, and the Multiplayer is still playable through it (albeit there's no reasons to with GTA Connected being a better alternative).

I don't think GTA 4 servers belong to R* though I could be very wrong.

 

They could be located behind a taco shack in CDMX for all we know

Technically GTA 4 Servers are still up if you happen to have the physical release since The Multiplayer is hosted by Games for Windows Live. as for console versions they are also still up but i can't find a lobby with anyone in it

One thing is that Max Payne 3 and Gta V are not backwards compatible, Xbox 360 is the only Xbox platform where you’ll have players who play the Online modes of em.

Same for RDR1's, although that one got buggy as hell the last time Rockstar touched it.
