Hack Puzzle Elimination Game

Welcome to the Hack Puzzle Elimination Game

The object of this is to pick a winner from the different Hack Puzzles in GTA Online

The Rules:

● You add one point (+1) to your favorite Hack and subtract two points (-2) which you can split (-1) (-1) for your least favorite(s).

● It isn't allowed to add and subtract from the same Hack in one vote.

● You're only responsible for changing the score to reflect your vote, not the person before you.

● You can vote once per day (every 24 hours). You can do it after 21 hours minimum, but if it becomes a habit it will not be allowed.

● When we are down to the last three, you need to vote after 24 hours. Voting earlier than 24 hours is no longer an option at this point.

● Copy and paste the list from the last person before you. This helps out everyone to see what the scores are and we can prevent disinformation from spreading through the game.

● Do not use multiple accounts, this is not allowed and action will be taken if you are found to be doing this.

● Only vote in these games if you have been a forum member for two weeks at least. If the person above you hasn't been a member for at least two weeks, then you should ignore their vote.

● If the person before you votes wrong (not forgetting to write the correct scores, but doesn't vote as the first rule implies), you shall ignore that vote.

● If you are new to this game do as the regulars do. If you disagree; they are right, and you are wrong. Accept that or leave this thread.

● Please show what you voted for in your post, as a example:

Example #1:

1. Option one 38 (-2)

2. Option two 41 (+1)

Or

Example #2:

1. Option one 38

2. Option two 41

-2 Option one

+1 Option two

Good behavior rules - Please Read

● When quoting someone, remove the score from your post (if applicable).

● Avoid adding remarks about the choice you are voting for or against within the "Scoring Rows". Place it below your vote, as this will make it easier for the next person to vote.

● If you have already posted a vote you cannot change that vote and pick something else. Once it's published it's final.

● Opinions outside of the vote are allowed, but this should be done within reason.

● Cheating, manipulating scores and other deceptive attempts to derail the game is not allowed.

● Should you decide to disregard these rules and take matters into your own hands, you may face consequences from the Moderators.

● Trolling or antagonistic behavior will not be tolerated.

● If you think the list needs work or to be changed please make a suggestion, just don't take it upon yourself to change it.

● This is not the appropriate thread to hold a discussion about your disdain for the game, please post that in the other threads currently open.

Thanks to @Jimbatron for the game idea!

I like the beam hack for several reasons. Firstly there are 14 variants of it (more than any other I think), secondly the puzzles have different solutions, some are substantially quicker than others.

Will be very surprised if the keypad hack doesn’t die first. It could have been a good format in theory but it’s painful when newbies get stuck on it, and almost everyone with experience will get the L2 pass rendering it obsolete.

Thanks @Amy Vinewood for the new game.

A bit of a digression for interest if anyone is into puzzles, but some of these puzzles fundamentally test very different skill sets. In the spoiler I've attempted to loosely categorise:

Spoiler

1. IP address hack - visual acuity
2. Bruteforce password hack - hand-eye coordination and timing
3. Data Crack - hand-eye coordination and timing
4. Circuit Breaker - hand-eye coordination and timing
5. Server hack - logic/problem solving
6. Beam hack - logic/problem solving
7. Keypad hack - memory
8. Fingerprint - visual acuity
9. Voltlab - 40 - mathematics
10. El Rubio's Fingerprint - visual acuity

or to group them:

Visual Acuity puzzles:

1. IP address hack

8. Fingerprint

10. El Rubio's Fingerprint

Hand-eye coordination and timing:

2. Bruteforce password hack

3. Data Crack

4. Circuit Breaker

Logic/problem solving:

5. Server hack

6. Beam hack

Memory:

7. Keypad hack

Mathematics:

9. Voltlab

Feel free to disagree, this is my own interepretation. El Rubio's fingerprint is actually an interesting one because although I'm sure R* set it up as a visual acuity puzzle - matching the images on the right to the ones on the left, there's actually a logical solution to it because of the top to bottom sequence - you can actually build the fingerprint even if the left side of the screen wasn't visible at all!

It will be interesting to see at the end if there's a category of puzzle more popular, although for me at least the specific design has a big impact. One category at least I like one of the puzzles and think another one is a bit naff!

I do like a maths puzzle, even if very simple 🤓

Whoever came up with the Keypad hack definitely did a great job (from a security standpoint) - I find all other hacking challenges pretty easy, but I did the keypad hack once and told myself "never again" -.-'

@Jimbatron even has his own thread on the Beam Hack, LOL, so it's pretty obvious where the bias is going on this one, but I barely even remember it as I hardly ever do the Doomsday Heist, which is by FAR my least favorite of the four heists.

Yes, it's you. The reason that this is such a good puzzle is because you can get totally lost in it and never see the numbers, although sometimes you see them immediately.

You could argue the casino fingerprint hack becomes memory once you do enough of them.

Rebalancing these a little. I don’t dislike the Casino fingerprint, but I prefer El Rubios, which can be solved logically as well as visually.

This game should be an interesting one. Say what you want about the Doomsday Scenario Heist (and believe me I have a lot to say), the beam hack there is actually pretty fun while an endless storm of enemies flood the area.

I legit didn't know what the Keypad Hack was until I realised its for the Diamond Casino Heist if you don't have the keycards to bypass them. Too many bad memories with randoms turned me away from that.

Voltlab gives the sorta feel like I'm some kind of smartass or electrical genius regardless that it's a basic hacking process. It's the fastest hack I can pull off compared to any other...

@Jimbatron even has his own thread on the Beam Hack, LOL, so it's pretty obvious where the bias is going on this one, but I barely even remember it as I hardly ever do the Doomsday Heist, which is by FAR my least favorite of the four heists.

I think it's my favourite, but I like a lot of these puzzles. I don't really dislike any, a few are less inspiring than others or just have unfortunate consequences on the game (newbies get stuck on them and it ruins the heist mostly). I did the guide because when DD was new some people got stuck on the odd beam hack, and no one at that time (to my knowledge) had provided a video showing the solution to all of the variants you could get. I did wonder if it might get a bit of hostility due to Act III associations. Personally it's my favourite heist of the lot (for fun, obviously it can't compete with Casino or CP for money), but I think I would find things different without my PC's mouse and keyboard. It's all about the headshots, not just because of the elite target, but because the enemies have a lot of health, headshots are needed to bring them down quickly, and personally I think it's much harder with a control pad. By extension I think it's therefore much harder on the consoles, then you have the insta kill glitches - present on all platforms etc. Oddly I prefer a control pad for RDR2 for horseback combat, although I'm mostly spamming snake oil and dead eye all the time - but I digress.

Say what you want about the Doomsday Scenario Heist (and believe me I have a lot to say), the beam hack there is actually pretty fun while an endless storm of enemies flood the area.

This was my feeling too. I remember when me and my friends first did Act III. We'd already found it tough and had several restarts to get to this point. I was hacking and could hear my team mates on the mic, mostly comments like "[email protected]*! me there are 5h1t loads of them!" It really created the tension, and it's the most amount of pressure I ever felt on any of these puzzles, knowing my friends were counting on me to get it done quick.

But for now, I quite like El Rubio's fingerprint puzzle, and it's going down quite rapidly, so I'll prop it up a bit. The Server hack is possibly the most mundane of them all. It's actually just trial and error, no way to spot a solution, the best you can do is be methodical as you go through all possible combinations
