Forza Horizon 5

I'd say 99% of the time I go do a Horizon Arcade, I end up by myself. I don't understand it. Does anyone else here want to do some of the Drift Horizon Arcades? If you're a decent drifter, we can probably duo 3 rounds.

I'm getting myself a "free trial version" if you know what i mean, just like with Forza Horizon 4, since Mexico looks reeally great, might be the right game for the darker days, but rubberband AI is an absolute no go in a racing game for me.

I also didn*t like the overall cheesiness of FH 4, with the dorky characters and bright colours. We'll see how it goes.

Guys I have 130 million people when is the Forza shop opening up? I pretty much got everything from wheel spins.

Yea lol, credits don't mean much in the long run on Forza.

Do wonder why the Forzathon shop isn't open yet though.

one thing I was instantly reminded of when doing the benchmark:

the music is terrible. Can you import your own music GTA style?

on the plus side, game looking friggin good

(if it helps, slapping all power upgrades and drag slicks on an NSX-R GT with a suitably punchy engine will easily get the seasonal Danger Sign, with a power rating of something like S1 897 - might be worth doing that, or similar with any other Retro Sports thing that starts in A-class stock)

I have used a few different cars. All Retro Sport, all S1. Even used one tuned to exactly 900. Can hit 1800ft easily. Result is always the same, incorrect car used for objective. Also cannot finish the challenge with Nissan. No matter how many Awesome Drifts I get during a Road Race it won’t count them.

Very few of the daily challenges work for me, there's definitely some issues with the system in general. Hoping the upcoming patch fixes a few things there.

Anyone else noticing that if you do the Horizon. Arcade challenge it doesn’t get marked on the screen but you still get the points?

I wasn't experiencing crashes until they rolled out the hotfix and pulled it back. Game just doesn't want to run for more than a few hours.

I noticed they did put out another hotfix today, least got in-game notification they did.

Check your messages for a free gift car - 918 Spyder with an Xbox 20th Anniversary wrap:

(as the tweet states, it's also in FH4, for any completionists/collectors - and it's a really good demonstration of how much the engine sounds have been improved for FH5 if you swap between the two!)

In other news, whoever at PG created the new Gauntlet deserves something nice for Christmas - it's such a well curated track, with distinct phases (jungle scramble, town road sprint, hill climb, dirt road descent, then a final sprint to the finish). Already did it with the 207 Super 2000, and I bet it's a hoot in the M-Sport Fiesta...

Quick thought: I wonder what new cars are getting added with Series 2 - presumably we'll get a Festival Playlist preview in tomorrow's Forza Monthly*.

suspect the free reward cars are going to be returning things from FH4 or older games - for instance, something like the '77 V8 Vantage (last seen in FH3), which actually has a related accolade in FH5, but isn't actually in the game yet! Or something like the Fiat Coupé (back from Motorsport 5), which was in the leaked list of WIP cars ages ago. In any case, I'm not expecting any all-new cars in the playlist, since those are probably reserved for the Car Pass for now, or as part of the first expansion.

*bit weird that it's coming before the first FH5 weekly seasonal has even finished, but that's down to it being synched to FH4 seasons - which makes me wonder, when will Playground call time on FH4 updates, and shift their schedule to fit FH5? As for FH4, maybe they'll do similar to FH3, and have a "Final Forzathon" that just sits in place permanently (perhaps with a last handful of achievements like FH3, too).

Unless it was my game being screwy that have put a stop to collecting unlimited/easy Super Wheel Spins with the Willy's. When I buy them and go to the mastery section they all have the same 3 perks already selected.

It's you. It still works for me.

If the Willy's does get patched, there's also the 2020 Supra, which has the same Super Wheelspin mastery tree.

It's no Continental, but it'll do.

This one specifically inspired by the shaved Continental from In Time. I love when classic cars are used as a basis for retrofuture/dystopian vehicles in movies.

ShadowOfThePast

I saw somewhere that a new Forza Horizon was released and was thinking about giving it a shot but before I do so, I have a few questions.

Is this game suitable for casual play ? I used to play Need For Speed back in the day (Most Wanted, Carbon) when it was still good and before we got to the monstrosity of a nightmare that this series is now. I'm not into simulator racing games tho.

Can this game be played fully offline ?

Any other tips for a new comer ?

1) Yep, it's far more new player friendly than any over racer I've played. The game has a good range of options to tweak the difficulty to your liking and includes a rewind feature allowing you to correct your mistakes, it can even practically play its self you can make it that easy. Though it's worth mentioning that the hardest difficulties right now are a bit broken due to overtuned AI but that's not a problem on the lower difficulties.

2) If you mean literally offline I believe so but don't quote me on that as I'm not 100% on how things like the Xbox PC app, Games Pass etc work when you have no internet connection. If you mean solo while connected to the internet, yes, you can also disconnect from the online freeroam and drive around with AI. The main game can be done completely solo and offline, the online modes are the PvP/co-op modes and weekly/monthly seasonal events.

3) Just do whatever takes your fancy, there's a lot to do and it can be overwhelming with how much stuff you'll unlock very quickly but you really don't have to do everything, just do what you enjoy doing. Also it's a collectathon and not a grinder, the game will throw rewards at you left right and centre, you don't need to grind for anything.

It does, but I only have 16 cars, so it's easy to keep a drift tune for all of them. I have no use for cars that I do not drive. I just keep the ones that I drift and gift away the rest. It makes it quicker when I need to switch cars quickly in a session, so my car select screen isn't cluttered. I probably have the smallest car collection here.

For some reason, I started to like matte black paintjobs again, so all of my cars are now murdered out.

Yeah, that sounds good, I'm not intending to play on a very high difficulty anyway.

That's interesting, does the weekly/monthly seasonal events are only available at that time or can you just re-play them at any given time ? Speaking of seasons, are there any maps with a proper snow ?

How easy is to unlock cars and have races with AI along other things like drifting etc ?

P.S Thanks for replying, much appreciated.

The seasonal stuff is split up into "Series" which end every month and start anew, so you cannot replay them. That said, they are basically just remixed versions of vanilla content that you do for rewards like quick chat phrases, credits and cars. Most of the cars are earnable else where, the exclusive cars return eventually as rewards and can always be bought from the in-game auction house for in-game currency, though they can get pricy depending on rarity and demand.

As for snow... idk exactly how the seasons change in FH5 as I didn't look pre-release but given it's Mexico I doubt we'll get a full map of snow like we did in Forza Horizon 4 which was set in the UK.

You'll get wheelspins every level and for numerous challenges and car mastery stuff, wheelspins can contain clothing, horns, credits and cars and you'll get loads as you play. Cars are very, very easy to come by in FH.

Every race can be played solo (vs AI), co-op or in PvP. I believe the only drift events where you compete with other drivers are online only in the Horizon Open, but there are drift zones around the map to do.

Solo free roam is terrible because the game feels the need to pack the streets full of Drivatars. Run along the airstrip, hit max speed just to see a Drivatar in front of the ramp. They love to hang out by the speed traps as well.

Can you even gift it to specific people? I've been using the Gift Drop option, but you can only gift it to random players.

Question, anyone overclock their GPU?

I left my game on(without my overclock settings) before I went to work and appears it hasn't crashed, still dumb that a hotfix makes MSI Afterburner crash my game when it DIDN'T do that before.
