Yea afking the Goliath aint for me. Feels like it's gonna lead to some inflated ranks in trials later down the line, absolutely useless people in the hundreds and multiple prestiges.

 

I have farmed mastery points for spins but I've basically got most of the bases covered now and now the seasons started so getting those done. The first trial of the game was rough with those AI, first attempt ended in failure cause half the team wasn't playing, second attempt we lost cause the only other driver than my self crashed at the very last corner to cost us the series, third attempt I got a good team together and we won it comfortably.

Being in a convoy today just being near them put them in the same session but the free roam servers are absolutely frazzled and it's constant disconnects, convoy members vanishing and reappearing etc etc. Hopefully the upcoming patches fixes a lot of the issues with the free roam servers, the rest of the game seems to be running mostly fine.

Me and Kushology just tried another solution someone else posted. It looks like if one of you (or everyone) goes into the Festival, and exits. The game will place you in the same session (or perhaps it will place anyone who does it, into the leaders session).

 

Edit: @Jason I see what you mean by convoy members vanishing and reappearing. It's happened a dozen times now in about 3 minutes.

Yea online free roam basically just aint working right now, when me and my mates got into races it was mostly fine - though sometimes someone wouldn't get in and would be kicked out the convoy but I dunno if that was incompetence or server issues lol.

Maybe both.

 

I don't like Auto Ghost being off though, ngl. When going to photo mode, all cars are solid anyway, just down to timing it and random players are "solid" when stationary too. Weird mechanic. Have few pics of randoms and I drifting or one we posed with my cop car.

Ghosting was always off in convoy for FH4, so its the same. Never was a problem for me in FH4.

 

And FH3 didn't have ghosting at all.

When I'm being tapped from behind and car gets pushed, it's annoying. But not your fault. Hard af for me to see when I'm behind too, I go a lot slower cause I can't see sh*t.. :x

 

surprised my frames don't drop really bad that's how much smoke there is.. lmao.

I think the problem is my car is too fast. I could slow down, but that's not fun. 😂


But that's also why I drift RWD 99% of the time. Easier tandems.

Yeah 8 hours 10 minutes, and another 999 skill points, hooray, gonna spend them and start another one. :D

I reduced graphics to the lowest of low, and 720p for AFK farming, so my PC is quiet at night if i sleep.

I will play Battlefield 2042 starting today. :D 

 

Maybe after they fixed the optimization, the ugly graphics and crash issues then i actually play the game, also with and against others but before rather not.

 

I unlocked all cars in FM7, FH4 and wanna do it in FH5 too, that is mostly my maingoal. After i got them all i barely touch the game anymore lol. Then the game also doesn't feel grindy anymore, after having all cars already. then i can play the game just if i wanna have some fun.

 

GTA Online is grindy, and i think BF2042 will be grindy too, well at least in the beginning, to unlock weapons, modifications etc. i don't wanna add another grindy game to the list.

It's running great for me apart from the server disconnects, which sucks. The crashing was fixed for me after I closed any Sonic Studio processes on Task manager, and I was one of the people who was crashing during the INTRO mission.

 

Anyway, it seems Forza lost it's licensing with Rocket Bunny. All of the widebody kits from RB that I used to have (for the S15 and RCF) seem to be gone. Which sucks. But at least the M4 still has the LW.

I've found a strange bug (which I've already reported) with the standard adjustable rear spoiler of the 190E Evo II.

The downforce is way to low (in FH4 it's 153 by default). This leads to the car being extremely tailhappy. Maybe some drifters can make use of this?

I think I've found out how you can mute other players.

 

In the Xbox app (Windows + G) go to "Audio" -> click "Voice" -> go to "More options" -> select "Xbox Party-Chat" -> turn "Volume of the party" down to zero.

 

I have only joined one public race so far but heard nobody. Can you please check and report back if this is fixing the issue for you, thanks.

Speaking of game chat audio, I was in a Horizon Open there playing with my headphones on and the chat audio from another player was coming out of my monitor.

 

That's a new one for me lmao.

Haven't heard a soul and PC, can apparently type your own messages and can make it TTS but the chat window doesn't open. 'Z' key.

 

Can see it in options and all.

Man, if only Microsoft Sam was one of the TTS options in the game. Or maybe as one of the replacements for Anna.

Not that I have any use for it anymore, but I've come up with a method for skill point farming that gives me 450-460 skill points per hour by just drifting. This is still using my Viper. 😂

Man I wish Playground had more interesting modes, or at least a way better variety. I only really do it for the seasonal challenge but the same old modes are tedious.

 

They also need to plaster a big "YOU ONLY NEED TO PARTICIPATE TO GET THE REWARD" somewhere cause so many people still quit after losing the 1st round.

For the Playground Games yes, just complete a match of the seasonal event and you'll get the points. The Horizon Open challenges are unrelated to winning as well, and in the past games you just had to get ranked IIRC.

So far, feels most like Horizon 3 (right down to peppering the map with races faster than you complete them every time you expand a festival site, lol), but it's also a bit like how I feel about RDR2: there's something about it that makes it come across like the culmination of every game Playground's done so far. So in the same way that RDR2 brings back things last seen in Max Payne 3, GTA San Andreas, and even L.A. Noire, I can definitely see bits of FH1-4, and things drawing upon all the expansions, too. Biggest example: off-road racing needing proper off-road setups is like a fusion between the promise of FH2's Storm Island (where it implied you needed to use a proper dirt racing setup, but in practice you didn't really), but actually delivers on that by being as strict as Blizzard Mountain was with needing snow tyres (rather than FH4, where you could manage without).

 

My main gripes are progression-related: you already start with FH3's issue with throwing more stuff at you than you can keep up with, but then add on all the live-service playlist stuff from Day 1. The end result is almost like playing two games at once, where I'm having to choose between keeping up with seasonal stuff, or make progress on things like story chapters. I definitely preferred FH4's approach to all of that, myself: unlocking new events required you to rank up the various progression tracks, so you unlocked, say, new road races by ...completing the already-available road races. And PG held off on the seasonal stuff for months for FH4, making it feel more like the persistent endgame after completing the base game, rather than something you had to do at the same time. Not sure if I'll get the Hall of Fame unlocked in time to do the Trial this week - although at this early stage, I doubt your average rando will have gotten the hang of tuning stuff to beat the Trial by now, so it's probably no major loss. :sigh:

 

Other than that, though, it's sucked me in good and proper. The driving experience feels like the next proper evolution of the series since 3, and I appreciate the subtle improvements to lighting and materials for things like car interiors (dashboard leather looks like leather, now, not matte plastic like in older games). And the map might just be the best in the series overall - it's got rural scenery similar to FH2, the main site reminds me of FH1, the coasts smack more of 3, the volcano climb clearly draws from what PG learned from Fortune Island, and the overall approach to map layout builds on what made getting across FH4's map so satisfying. Plus it all feels uncannily like an upgraded RDR2 at times - which just goes to reinforce what I've said about Red Dead for ages: it'd be so much better if I could just ditch my wimpy horses with their stupid fragile legs, and get around New Austin faster just by punting a Ford Escort off cliffs... :p

Did The Trial today and we breezed right through it.

 

I've stopped caring about the season stuff for now because the game is pretty rough around the edges and for me it gets worse everyday. Complete objectives and the game doesn't count it. The car restrictions on the PR stunts is obnoxious. I've done the Danger Sign 5 times now with the correct car, yet the game says I'm not using the correct car. Cannot play in online sessions because something causes the graphics to go crazy. Not my PC because it doesn't happen in any other game. Only in H5 and only when online, everything is fine in a solo sessions, including solo races. Plenty of talk about graphics issues to be found online, such a shame.

As someone who only plays online when I have to (same as with Horizon 4), the only issue I've had so far is struggling to connect to a session to play Horizon Arcade - and then getting into Arcade sessions with barely any people, making the whole thing pointless. Although there, I expect we're going to see the same thing as what happened with seasonal Games in FH4: Playground putting them in the playlist to get people to play them, but between people getting bored and quitting, or just struggling to get enough people to do them, I reckon they're going to wind up changing the seasonal requirement to simply 'take part and complete at least Round 1'.

 

And yeah, the PR stunt thing is annoying - I see what they were trying to go for (making people use different cars and tune them effectively, instead of just having that one perfectly-tuned car in your collection that completes any stunt in 10 seconds - shoutout to the X999-tuned Hoonigan RS200... :p), but in practice, it winds up making seasonal stunts more time-consuming and easier to keep cocking up. And on top of that, you're only getting a regular wheelspin instead of a super 'spin, so they're only useful for making more progress with seasonal completion as a whole.

 

(if it helps, slapping all power upgrades and drag slicks on an NSX-R GT with a suitably punchy engine will easily get the seasonal Danger Sign, with a power rating of something like S1 897 - might be worth doing that, or similar with any other Retro Sports thing that starts in A-class stock)
