Fat overweight or obese protagonist for gta 6?

It would be an interesting and new idea!

We already had michael desanta in gta 5 who is frequently called fat but also capable of normal stuff and gunfights. But should the next gta protagonist be more visibly fat? Almost every single protagonist aside from cj who is optionally fat. Perhaps the character can be able to gain or lose weight but in crime movies and shows there are a lot of fat characters that are really tough or cool - Tony soprano or many of the characters in goodfellas, sopranos, casino and so on.

The two guys on the left killed 5 or 6 people each so this isnt far fetched.

It wouldnt really be a joke or anything, it would just be representation and how they are. If you want to talk about realism this would actually be more realistic than having a normal attractive white protagonist type character in the lead role. Many famous gangsters are overweight and if anything theyre made thinner for movies. One of the most famous gangsters was named Fat Tony. If yiu think of the 1980s setting then a movie came out about a guy named barry seal played by tom cruise but was actually a very large man in real life

Just a realistic thing or maybe something for more representation. If you have a female protagonist they could even be like that. Just a thought anyway it probably won t happen but its a potential thing or maybe even a weight gain/loss feature like san andreas.

Nah, if anything I want Rockstar to create a protagonist that's more mobile on their feet than in previous games, not less.

I like how mobile Niko was in GTA IV.

Hell, Aiden and Marcus from Watch Dogs moved pretty smoothly for the most part.

Give us epic foot chases!

Off topic, but I always hated how the Aztecas are mostly hostile towards CJ.

They should've at least been scripted to just be neutral to CJ like the Triads were. Would've been dope to recruit them

I don't know, fat gangsters are usually high ranking gang members who don't do much dirty work and instead get members who are young and in good shape to do it for them (most of them probably got fat after becoming shot callers, due to not having to do the dirty work themselves),same with old gangsters in their 50s and older. At most,a slightly overweight protagonist could work, but I just can't see a 300 pounds guy running from the cops and having fistfights and shootouts with thugs.

What about starting the game as an overweight guy, who starts a diet and gets thinner as the story progress.

A big strong character who's fat but with plenty of muscle would work just fine, even if we particularly want the protagonist to be very good with doing physical stuff etc. Think of big burly Arthur Morgan with some weight on him. Overweight and out of shape could also work for a gangster type thing especially if it was more of a kingpin but I agree that it wouldn't work so well for an up and coming street criminal. A character who is moderately older and moderately out of shape worked in GTA V but it would be more challenging to make it work if it was more extreme.

But like, a street criminal doesn't have to be in totally amazing shape for it to be believeable. All GTA protagonists do more than any real human could so there's always some suspension of disbelief anyway, I think there's scope for quite a range of different builds and levels of physical ability.

They should've been recruitable after completing the game, with territory (non claimable) on map.

Stop fat shaming bro. GTA protags are healthy at any size.

If you seen end of casino 1997 then theres a big montage where hitmen from the mafia come in and assasinate many members of the family could get them arrested. Without exeption i think all of them are big fat old guys in tracksuits and they still look scary and threatening. Same applies with joe pecci's character himself who is a short kind of tubby guy who also crunches a guys head with a vise. U could maybe play his fitness for lols like in carlitos way theres this big fat gangster who gets out of breath during the ending chase scene (Also how they did cj) but i think even olympic athletes would be hard pressed duing some of the stuff gta guys do lol.

I like this idea!! Even if he is an older dude (Rockstar love guys with receding hairlines since every gta dude except luis has had a widows peek) but a really built heavy guy would be cool. Olympic weight lifter type where they arent very defined but their built like a bear. I know my examples are just mafia guys but this applies to like most gangster real life i can think of like Big meech or escobar or alcapone.

Hitmen are often big like that or oftentimes they are weird or gross dudes too but not like a trevor way just old guy way. Jose manuel martines was a cartel gangster but he was also this little balding mexican guy with a lisp and rotten teeth

Just cause cesar is cjs buddy doesn't mean the rest of the gang like him.

But CJ helped them reclaim their lost territory and they're basically protected from the Ballas.

The Triads don't intimidate CJ on site either.

Well for starters I wouldn't really want to play a character that has physical disadvantages. People dealing with obesity have already enough issues in real life. I wouldn't like to play as someone who cannot run as well, jump, swim, etc.

By applying the same logic why don't we get playable character who's in a wheelchair or maybe uses cruches to walk around?

Let's see Micheal for example, it is defined that other characters joke around that he's old, fat and out of shape. However the thing is the guy was a quarterback who could've gone pro, so it's somewhat justifiable that he is able to move around even at an older age.

Criminal activies usual include criminals to be agile, strong, fast, comes with the job lol

Michael isn't really out of shape. Yeah he's got a bit of a dad bod but he's not horribly unathletic or anything. IMO he looks like a dude who was once in great shape but has kinda coasted for a while.

Given RDR2 exploring the weight loss/gain mechanic softly, you can pretty much guarantee it will be in the next GTA in a more detailed manner.

But in terms of a base character appearance, Arthur is a nice kind of roadmap for me. First time for me it has felt realistic how he moves and interacts with things, it was good. Regardless, I don't think it matters too much in terms of realism to be honest, we were all worried about middle aged Michael before GTA V launched in terms of realism. Turns out nobody actually cared in the end.

It comes down to customisation desires more than realism I think. People spend a lot time customising characters and often it becomes self expression, an ideal and digital version of yourself. I'm overweight in real life I don't want to be overweight in my game too. Some people may like that though as for some it's more about what they see the character to be, and so a deeper mechanic where you can gain weight and tone up would be welcomed.

Wheelchair bound protagonist please.

But would be nice if gaining weight was optional. I missed it in IV and V; in SA it was fairly pointless, but fun to play with.

Please god no 'Arthur controls' in gta6, i f*cking hated that the most about RDR2, the dumbf*ck not reacting to controls quickly enough in favor of 'realistic movement' that i didn't ask for.

Theres indie games that do "realistic player motion" much better without the player losing direct control over the character (example) and i hope R* understands their mistake with RDR2 and goes more towards an actually dynamic system (like linked example) that respects user input above everything else for GTA6.

Character movement has been the same since GTA IV, not sure why you overreact with RDR2.

I wouldn't say it's a guarantee by any stretch. Could be they decide it's a feature that just works best in RDR2 and don't bring it over to GTA. Or maybe they realize it was a pointless feature and just scrap it all together.

It's changed considerably since then. GTA IV and RDR were downright terrible, they dialed it in and made GTA V at least adequate, then somehow broke it again with RDR2.

I think part of RDR2's problem was that Rockstar's cover system (which doesn't work great to begin with) really doesn't like all the organic shapes and terrain of the nature environment. The other part is that it's just ridiculously unresponsive.

It's latency, it's way off and never bothered to fix it. But nothing really to do with the physics of the character, as John was the same, as well as how your online players move.

Sure, that's true. But historically they always softly test new features in other games to be utilised properly in the next GTA. But as you say they might not, but who knows.
