Los Santos should have been saved for a future Gta

While I understand Los Angeles is an iconic city and the largest next to New York, I personally feel due to the limitations at the time when Gta V was being made, Rockstar wasn't able to fully capture their own version of Los Angeles and the surrounding area, In real life Los Angeles is huge and there's so many suburbs and districts near or within it. I feel Liberty City although condensed, felt and looked more like New York, Los Santos is missing quite a few areas and landmarks in LA, There's no Chinatown or Little Tokyo, so much of the ghetto is missing, No Union Station, No version of Universal Studios, No Long Beach, LA LIVE isn't present including the staples center and the mile high club which is based on Ritz Carlton is under construction during the game's events, etc

While I'm fine with the Los Santos we got, I definitely think Rockstar could've saved the city for a later game when technology is more advanced and they can do more with the city and make it more accurate

I agree. They pretty much ctrl+a deleted 60% of the actual city in favor of having some weird ass desert that's nowhere near Los Angeles in reality. Those "surrounding hills" you see that took up over half the map were complete fan fiction on their behalf. Microsoft Flight Simulator is like a glimpse of what could've been with smarter level design and better hardware.

You would write the same thing if Vice City was in GTA V, it's always about those mythical limitations:kekw: There will always be limitations that won't allow Rockstar to fully realize their vision. On PS6 or PS7 and so on...

I think it would have been better if GTA V was set in Vice City, that way nobody would have complained about the game featuring only one city, in fact, we would have been impressed by the single fact of VC featuring a countryside this time, and then GTA VI would have taked advantage of the current console capabilities to add Los Santos, San Fierro and Las Venturas in one map, just imagine how f*cking epic that would've been.

Wow you're right. The story and characters could've worked almost exactly the same as well. Franklin involved in gangs and going from the ghetto area to rich area, Trevor living out in the swamp instead of the desert and still involved in drug running, Michael in the nice area and getting involved in the Miami/VC film industry.  All the celebrity obsession and glamour and nightlife could've been there with South Beach etc. There's even a lot of Scientologists in South Florida so the Epsilon stuff would fit no problem. I can hardly think of anything that would've had to be different. Should've done it.

Even if they didn't make all three cities just a fully (or closer to fully) realised Los Santos would be great. With SA and V (and LA Noire if you count that) they've already done it so many times now, I think it'll have to be a long time before they do it again unfortunately.

Not to mention a lot of the soundtrack in the game feels more at home with Vice City than it does with LS.

I completely agree.

Los Santos feels half assed compared to Liberty City. I mean some areas like Long Beach that had some representation in GTA SA are basically nowhere to be found in GTA 5.

LS in general feels too cramped. Real life LA is more sparse and spread out. It's like they tried to take the same philosophy behind LC and apply it to LS, but failing to realize LA is much different in urban design than NY.

In a sense GTA SA constructed its cities much better. LS is somewhat dense in the west but with residential places here and there, and the ghetto suburbs of the east. SF is more urban and dense much like its real counterpart, and LV is mostly casinos and suburbs, which accurately reflects Vegas in the early 90s and even today. They were smaller but in some ways felt more authentic.

East Beach, much of East LS, Willowfield, Las Colinas, most of La Corona, and other iconic areas were mostly gone. How does that happen in a more advanced game is beyond me.

Yeah been saying this since 2015. V's depiction was just a theme park version of the real LA, even more so than San Andreas, it feels like there are more businesses and skyscrapers than there are actual homes that people live in. I think it needs more suburban areas and more districts like Long Beach to really sell that urban sprawl feel.

When I think of modern LA I think of the Staples center and LA Live. Not including them was dumb. Especially since they were in Midnight Club LA.

Also while not in LA I kinda wanted Orange County instead of Blaine County. I would have loved to see Disneyland and Anaheim as well as them parodying OC culture.

Yeah LA Live would've spiced things up and made the city more lively, along with other places in LA that aren't in V. Vinewood and West Vinewood Boulevard should've been longer and with more theaters, Downtown should've been bigger and with more skyscrapers, The city is not as wide open as LA and feels more condensed, There should've been an area based on Long Beach which even San Andreas had, More Residential Areas and not just Mirror Park and The ghetto is too small, The ghetto in LA is massive and there's so much to it, along with the residential areas not included

if Rockstar are to include Los Santos again, they could redesign it, they could do the same for Liberty City as well

Whew, guess I glossed over all those things that are missing because I have only noticed the lack of ghetto. You get like 5 streets of it and that's all. I'd wager that the rich district with all those fancy houses in Vinewood is bigger than the ghetto. Also I didn't even realize that Unity Station was missing until you brought it up. I agree it's a very different view of Los Angeles we got in V's Los Santos.

Back in 2011 I was sure they were going to have a parody of Orange County. It could've been the same size as Alderney without feeling too repetitive. But, make way for the boring empty remote wasteland instead.

You hit the nail on the head. Liberty City actually had sprawl and included another state! GTA V couldn't be bothered to include an HD Version of East Beach.

SR2's Stillwater (loosely based on Detroit I might add) was so much better in this regard; there was variety! The city had so many varied areas. Los Santos feels like 70% shopping district that takes up too much.

No wonder the city feels so "fake". Because there's nothing else to sell it except " look, rich areas!"

Newport Beach, Huntington beach. Missed opportunities.
