alt_zancudo
Is it just for me or is anybody else experiencing really low FPS in the pause menu? I have a Ryzen 5 3600X + 1660 Super. I noticed that when the pause menu is open in GTA 5, FPS drops from around 100 to 7 even though the CPU and GPU utilizations are at single digits. This isn't an issue in GTA Online however. Seems like the issue is only with GTA 5 SP. I have a "earpod" or a "truly wireless earphone". I recently purchased a Bluetooth USB receiver for my PC (since the motherboard doesn't have in-built networking). Whenever I try to use the earpods as the audio output device, the game switches to my monitor's in-built speakers. I think the issue might be with the fact that the game is also trying to use my earpods as an input device(mic). This isn't a problem in Rdr2 however. How do i fix this issue? Edit: To add a little bit on the first point, the problem is that the menu stutters a lot. Like it takes a good 2-3 seconds to even register a input and the transistion animations are slow af Edited June 2, 2021 by alt_zancudo
MechanicMammal
In answer to your first question, that is totally normal. The game screen is shown as a background to the menu. In single player if you pause the game the background is static, so it does not waste resources rendering frames. But in online you can not actually pause the game so the background changes, the game is still being rendered in realtime. Do not worry. Which is why I mentioned the low FPS. I guess I should have mentioned the issue properly, my bad.
Rotorhead359
Low FPS in the menus in single player comes from a very weird bug with the game's engine. If your framerate reaches or exceeds 180fps, it starts dropping frames. In single player, the game is paused when you open the menu, so the game will easily exceed 180fps as nothing needs to be rendered or processed. If you want to fix this, you need an external frame limiter, and set it a bit lower than 180 fps, that should fix it, at least for me. alt_zancudo

May I know what software/application are you using as an external frame limiter? Cheers Edited June 2, 2021 by alt_zancudo

Cheers I use RivaTuner, comes bundled with MSI Afterburner. But you can also limit framerate through nVidia Control Panel or AMD Radeon settings. I have mine set to 120fps. edit: I have a standard 60hz panel, so I don't use vsync, that gives me input lag over vsync off. MechanicMammal
Yeah I did not realise that you were getting control lag, but also I did make a error in that post about it rendering less frames in the single player menu it actually renders more. Airwolf is totally correct about the over frame thing it is a common issue with people using modern hardware and not even just in the menu's but also in the game itself if the GPU is powerful. But I think you can limit the frames without using a external program. MSI afterburner is a brilliant program to have installed regardless, especially if you are interested in a bit of light overclocking (it is almost a must have). I limit mine to 120 in the game menu graphics settings to match my laptop screen, it seems to stop the issue of overframes for me but I admit I have not played single player for a long time. What hz is your monitor rated? probably best to try and match that with the limit you finally decide to set. But now it is set to auto and I am unable to change it Edit: The display was set to "windowed borderless" instead of "fullscreen". That seemed to fix the issue. Thanks Edited June 18, 2021 by alt_zancudo
