Ok i can see it.

I am killing in game, but not going on the street to kill people.

I have been addicted to slots machines irl. One day i have spent whole my monthly salary on them.

I got over it and not playing it anymore irl, however i like to buy full pack of chips everyday i go to spin a wheel at diamond casino, and spend them all on slots in gta.

My addiction from old days obviously works in this virtual reality.

However spinning wheel banned is still mistery to me and i cant understand it.

Spinning the wheel is still gambling. Consider that you can buy wheelspins in real life and online casinos. Even though it's free in GTA Online (but on a 24 hours cooldown) Rockstar played safe and disables it along with the rest.

But at least if the game won't let you waste your time gambling, you have more time for stuff like the Bogdan glitch, which still works after 3 years and is 100% safe.

Money glitches involving the casino were all detected and patched anyway.

Hmm. Ok. Seems like overprotecting.

I was wondering if just game mechanics didnt allow them to open some of casino features while disabling others. Maybe they are connected somehow in game code. That would make for me biggest sense if it could be true.

I actualy spent a lot of time in raschkovsky glitch if you know that one. Took me good 5 hours to complete this heist because of this glitch appearing over and over 😆

Can't you just use a VPN, to hide your true location? Set it to a country where it's allowed.

Edit: Oops you mentioned VPN in the OP.

Yes, it's all connected apparently. Lazy coding from Rockstar.

And Bogdan and Rashkovsky are 2 entirely different things. One makes a lot of money, the other costs a lot of money (and time)

I can't explain the Bogdan glitch here, it's probably against the rules, but go ahead and google it.

At the end of the day it all has to do with each countries specific laws and nothing to do with R*. They have to comply with local laws if they wish to continue to sell their games in that country. To some countries because you can buy in-game currency with real money and then buy casino chips with the in-game currency and make bets using those chips regardless of whether you can withdraw the money they still consider it gambling and thus extra steps must be in place before this can be allowed so a ban is easier, or the country doesn't allow gambling or online gambling at all.

We're also all assuming the dev team didn't go over the possibility of making it so shark cards can't be used to buy chips but for some reason, which we most likely will never know, either legal said that still won't cut it in those countries, or implementing a system that would track that stuff and keep the money separate and easily differentiated (for legal and players to know exactly which is which) wasn't worth the headache. Because then you have to figure out which money gets spent first? Bought or earned? Then in what scenarios does that rule apply? Every scenario has to now be coded to use 1 set up cash first and the 2nd type 2nd if it's even allowed to use 2ndary money at all because I could only imagine the flurry of players who went to buy casino chips but the system used their earned money to buy things first instead of their bought money so when they went to buy chips all they had was bought money and thus couldn't.

That seems like a lot more work for very little extra reward on R*'s part. If people can't spend Shark Card money on it then that's one less reason to buy a shark card and that's less money R* could be earning. So why do extra work for no reward? There aren't a lot of countries where the gambling is banned and none are all that big so R* isn't alienating a huge portion of their fan base by doing this and all it takes to get around this is a VPN, which I'm sure R* also considered thus making it all that much easier to just go with the simple "Ban it in these countries" options.

Now let's say R* DID decide the two currencies option was more viable: You now have (earned)GTA$ and (bought)Shark$ kept totally separate, different banks even, and it's clearly shown which is which. Don't tell me R* wouldn't make it so every item they released after this didn't have two prices: GTA$ and Shark$ so you pick exactly how you buy the item (think trade prices but for everything). Don't tell me R* wouldn't give discounts for using Shark money to buy that car or property or bunker supplies to further push card sales. Honestly surprised they haven't done that but I'm not gonna be surprised if GTA6 doesn't get something similar but they make it out to be a dumb Crypto rip off.

As for killing an NPC or even another player's character again it goes back to laws: no country says it's illegal to kill someone in a video game. You're not actually killing a real person, the person's character is not a real person, thus no actual crime has been committed.

I really don't understand why this is a topic years after the casino was launched and why we continue to assume its all because of R* and only because of R* and not other things like laws in the real world and what those laws determine to be gambling vs laws of other countries that say it's not gambling, etc.

It's simple really, I'll try my best to explain:

Sure, Rockstar could just remove the cashier that exchanges chips for GTA$. That would separate chips from GTA$ for good. Chips could still be earned through Miss Baker's freemode missions, or won from the lucky wheel.

Chips can be spent in the casino store, so we already have a use for them. Or we can gamble them away, or get lucky and win more chips.

This way, there would be no GTA$ involved in gambling, and the casino could probably open up worldwide. I don't remember the casinos in GTA San Andreas being an issue anywhere.

However, it's Rockstar we are talking about: they don't make sensible decisions lately, and they don't care about user experience anymore.

They don't care that they have to close the casino in half the world's countries. They only care about them shark cards.

Those scumbags only care about the other half where some people buy casino chips for GTA$, and some of that GTA$ may be coming from shark cards, effectively gambling with real money.

The government won't care if you grinded or glitched instead of buying shark cards.

You shouldn’t want to gamble in here anyway. The odds are rigged way more against than in a real casino. Inb4 some autistic mouthbreather parrots “tHe HoUsE aLWayYs wInS” and pretends it’s some kind of insightful analysis of the odds of the table games.

Rockstar are trying to cover their arses legally, because many countries have cryptic or nonsensical gambling laws.

You’ll find that the vast majority of legislators are braindead clowns who can only make kneejerk reactions based on contemporary events, with absolutely no foresight or semblance of consistency with existing legislation.

I see a lot of people using the argument that GTA$ can be purchased for real money and consequently a lot of people would technically be paying real money to gamble, but to me that doesn't seem like a good justification at all, first, what kind of person would pay GTA$ to gamble in a GTA casino? I mean, it doesn't make any sense, I think it's more profitable to take your real life money and go to a casino or a poker game to gamble, why do it in a casino in a GTA where you can only play against the casino? Second, with how extremely easy it is to make money today in GTA Online (those who started playing in 2013-2014 will understand), what need would anyone have to spend their own money on this? Based on the same logic, online games themselves like GTA Online itself should be banned, since they give you the possibility to spend real money, come on, pretty weak argument. For me none of that justifies the ban, but I understand that Rockstar wants to cover their backs and preferred to cancel it, but come on, another example of how governments infantilize people.
