Summer update?

So I saw that they made an announcement that there will be a summer update and I've also seen a lot of the predictions that have gone along with that.

 

With that said...

So in online that old guy started showing up in the camp again.

Before the winter update dropped I had pointed out on another post that he mentioned that the bitter cold was on its way and how I felt like this was a prediction that they were going to introduce snow.
And they did just that.

 

This time all he mentioned was things are coming soon and I'll see you again.

Then ran for my Camp laughing weirdly.

 

Considering that he dropped the hint about the winter weather, I wonder if this has anything to do with the summer update that's supposedly pending.

 

What are your thoughts?

That's a great scenario and I hope your right, but that just sounds like much too clever of an idea for these people to conjure up.

What? This man has been presaging new updates? I always found him as a common easter egg, nothing else.

Snow had already been part of the game for 2 weeks every year around Xmas.

Yup. In solo lobbies he's there quite often. Not sure what purpose he serves other than another thing to ignore.

I think you're confusing GTA online.

 

He hasn't been in my Camp since that big update and what he said this time around was something totally different.

 

But it doesn't matter because someone listed the content that we're getting above.

I don't have GTA. Snow has been in RDO for at the least the past 2 years. One week at Xmas, the next week some time after New Year. 2 years ago the 2nd week was the week of April Fools day.

I'd be kind of happy with just prestigious (10 more levels) Trader/Collector/Moonshiner and even Harriet junk; at least it would be more to do.

 

More horse races/types don't really do it for me.

 

Imagine if it was a ranch/house thing, people would flip!

So I was wrong there definitely have been 2 years of it but he was still hinting at it before it came out.

I'm thinking back on it I really didn't play much over the last winter time so that's probably why I'm only remembering one winter.

That guy has been around since the moonshiner update, maybe even before.  I don't think he is dropping hints.  I see him fairly often.  I tie him up and throw him on the fire.  He is def more frequent in solo lobbies.

He's definitely been in the game since before The Moonshiner update.

 

If I'm not mistaken The Moonshiner update happened in December of 2019 and that post I made about him making comments about the bitter cold coming was from October of 2019.

I hardly doubt it, his hints aren't likely to mean anything nowadays. As far as I recall, he has been in the game since Frontier Pursuits. There's no way Rockstar would have planned out hints towards future content that are coming two years later upon introducing him.

 

The snow hint was kinda expected, since it was predetermined that Rockstar would introduce snow at some point in the game.

I understand that players who were familiar with rock stars MO speculated about the snow.

That's a rather easy speculation to make if you have any experience with GTAO.

However doesn't change the fact that he was mentioning that right before the update.

 

I paid close attention to every other interaction with him prior to that and he even repeated a few of them multiple times in the months that led up to that encounter and he had never said that before.

 

I can only assume that considering he had never mentioned that in any previous interaction that this was something they added.

 

I understand the point you brought up, and maybe you're right, but to say that he never predicted anything IMO is a mistake because it's obvious he did.

 

I know people have reported seeing him and solo lobbies but not in populated lobbies, at least not for some time now.

 

Well that's what I've been reading on a number of other message boards. Unless that info is incorrect.

 

Now all of a sudden he's popping up in people's camps during full lobbies, once again saying and doing things that I have never seen him do before.

It just raises a little suspicion.

I guess it depends on what platforms they are on. People on Xbox have said large lobbies have had no affect on random events, etc. I know for a fact on PC it's pretty much just moonshiner random events that spawn in full lobbies and I never saw him in those lobbies. I don't know what's going on in PS lobbies. I do know that in solo lobbies I have seen that dude in my camp every time I've played which shows that his frequency of appearances hasn't been reduced by R*. Based on what I've experienced with RDO, they could increase spawn rates of everything but it won't change how things work in full lobbies. Based on how much is spawned in solo lobbies I don't think it's even popssible for them to increase the level.

games been running for 2 years now? only had 2 updates that had something in it. moonshiner and naturalist.

both are very lackluster.

I really hope this update makes it posiblle again to wear a longshirt over the pants with a vest or a coat, like in this picture I took back when I got level 20 in Moonshiners....

I've fed him about 15 times, on the Xbox One, it was about that time they fixed the bug of always being in solo lobbies; so I've not seen him since, 

which saddens me since I hoped feeding him might be an "easter egg" which paid off one day in some kind of reward.

I'm in solos just about all the time--and he shows up very frequently. When I camp just outside of Valentine and when I hang around camp, it's like clockwork--there's a wagon attack, the treasure hunter pops up and the old guy visits my camp.

 

I never really pay attention to what that old guy says but I do always give him food. I guess I'll listen to what he says from now on. I can only remember one time when he didn't ask for food and he was speaking rather aggressively. That time, I tied him up and left him in my camp. I guess he eventually disappeared.

He hates me because I have yet to see him in my game. The only time I've ever seen him was at my daughter's camp long ago. I shot at him because he scared the heck out of me and I thought her camp was under attack. 

 

To be fair she was camped up in Roanoke and he looked like one of those hillbillies, and I don't quite like those hillbillies.
