I was playing GTA5 today and I realized that my texture quality was low. It was randomly set to normal. I tried to change it and once I restarted my game, the quality was still at normal. I tried a lot of things but nothing works.

thanks

Check in the GPU's control panel that the game settings are set to be application controlled.

That's for stuff like anisotropic filtering, anti-aliasing or VSync override. GPU drivers don't pick your texture quality.

Sounds like the game is unable to save your settings to the file. Are you running it with administrator privileges?

Alternatively, the settings file is in your documents folder (Documents/Rockstar Games/GTA V/Settings.xml) so you can change it in notepad. The setting you're looking for is TextureQuality, goes from 0-2.

If Notepad throws an error while you're trying to save, make sure the file isn't read-only.

I have been encountering the exact same problem as you. For some reason my texture setting are just stuck on normal all of a sudden and I always used to play on ultra.      I honestly feel like I have tried everything to fix it and nothing works. I even tried to run the game as administrator and it did nothing and I also tried to manually change the setting in the setting.xtml file and even when I change it there and load up the game it goes back to normal texture

I have a gtx 1060 6gb I know it’s not the most powerful but I do believe that it should  atleast be able to run texture on high and I always used to run it on ultra with 60fps so now I am just extremely confused and have NO clue what to do

anyone got any ideas ?

I was having the same issue of texture quality resetting to normal after restarting the game..the only fix that worked for me was deleting the commandline.txt in the gta5 main folder

its funny cause if you check in commandline.txt you see litterally -texturequality 0 LOL seriously though you probably downloaded some mods cause i dont think GTA 5 does this automatically
