FWD cars in GTA V/ O look nice but are complete and utter garbage to drive. My characters buy them and they just sit in the garage because there's absolutely no joy to be had in driving them.

Remember, the Asterope's rear wheel drive despite its badge saying otherwise. The Bobcat has a "4x4" badge on it but is likewise rear wheel drive. Basically I'm saying don't put a whole lot of faith in car badging in GTA. They're usually just decorations. Take the Primo for example, adding a spoiler to it slaps a "Supercharged V8" badge but no supercharger appears nor does it take on a distinctive whine.

Yeah ↑... It's just another aspect of GTA cars that we have to turn a bit of a blind eye to sometimes, I mean.. is the Peyote really rocking a supercharged V10?

Just another case of the guy who model the cars being not the same guy who makes the handling. Also the badges are just part of the texture mapping so even if you have the barebone 3D model you cant really tell what badges it is supposed to have.

Thinking about the original 'Bennys' DLC, and the Faction... 

 

Wouldn't it be nice (and from a Rockstar perspective, profitable!) if we were to be given the option to buy a stock 'Celica', and then have options as to how we upgraded / tuned it? 

 

The purists and sleeper-builds could have a practically stock vehicle.

The rally fans could have a 4WD build with appropriate liveries, mudguards etc.

And the tunists could go 'Brrr' with bodykits and stancing. 

 

I live in hope... Why did I move here? Maybe it was the opportunity to have more options...

You’re asking waaaaaay too much of Rockstar here, Rockstar is just gonna put the car and then dump a bunch of mod parts for it and call it a day.

Agreed this is the perfect application for Benny to take the stock fwd car and make the rally spec version with an upgrade. 
 

Really what I want is the end result to be classified “compact” and have similar performance to the club. I love the compacts class but the club pretty well ruined it.

I have. 01~ Celica anyway. It was swapped and converted to RWD.

 

It was gold metallic with black stripe from top of vent of hood. It was eventually sold to someone and totaled.. lol

Well ... from the 3° Gen to the 6° Gen the Celica became known for it's rally and racing history (thanks to this ... the Celica was the more famous late 80's and 90's Toyota sport car in the west before the A80-MK.IV Supra) ... the lack of aftermarket parts from tuning companies didn't help ... even on markets like Europe and U.S .... however ...

 

The only Celica which got a proper "tuner" treatment was the last gen (T230):

Sold only in FF-layout versions, it was known for it's fuel-economy, refreshed "sportier" design, TRD offered proper parts and bodykits, and thanks to the overall success of the early 2000's tuner/racing films which exploded in the west ... this model got more aftermarket support from general tuning companies.

Being honest almost all late 90's and early 00's Japanese cars which were sold in the west got this kind of treatment and support for aftermarket parts.

Well back then, the crazy gt4 cars were probably too rare or expensive to run. You'd prolly have better luck with Lancers or Imprezas. The normal ones were probably outclassed by civics and even the a111 Corollas. 

 

 

If I'm honest, I never gave the last gen Celica it's credit, it's probably a very nippy and fun little car.

Not really, the GT4 was rather rare outside of Japan. When it comes to mid-90s Japanese 4wd turbo 4 cylinder sports coupes, the Eclipse got the lion’s share of the fanfare. I sort of wish the Penumbra FF had more Celica-inspired stuff going for it, then they wouldn’t need to add a second almost identical car.

If it has pop up headlights be it from MR2 or actual 5th gen Celica then i will be in love with it, and they better make it AWD.
I had a 5th gen GT-i Celica irl and loved that car....They done a very lovely job of merging 6th gen with 5th gen's tailights, side windows are 5th gen's...this makes me worried as they may not go for the 5th gen front as it could be "too much", but static headlights would be boring....we need more cars with pop ups in this game!

Well Supra isnt a rally car, far from it. Celica GT-Four is, i hope it will be simialar in handling and capability to Sultan Classic, would welcome having similar burly sound too(Celica sounds like this irl but not exactly like a boxer obviously)

Sequence that shows an ST205-style rear wing also confirms the car to either be AWD or RWD.
 

The car is clearly seen doing a burnout using online's RWD/ AWD handling characteristics at around 7 seconds in

 

Anticipation level upgraded to somewhat excited now

Why do I get the sense that even though we appear go have just about everything to make this:

We probably won't be able to because they didn't make a Xero livery for this car like they did for the Jester Classic.

I hope that we'll get a better version of that livery with Coolhand Lube branding instead of Xero, considering that even though Coolhand Lube is based on Castrol, there's literally only one vehicle with a CLH livery.
