Klapertart
Hey I'm new to RDO. Got a question, do bodies decompose in RDO like in RDR2? I haven't seen it yet in my online playthrough. Cheers! Rev. Gnash
roggek
No, they just disappear when you are away from a certain radius of the bodies. A pro tip is when you are attacked in a road ambush, dont spawn too far away from the corpses, you may have fewer to loot. Keep the shooting at a minimum distance from where you get attacked. Dark Spark
I once took out an entire hideout from atop a cliff using a Rolling Block. When I climbed down to loot the bodies, every single one of them was gone. BUT THE BENZ, Krommer and netnow66 2
Krommer
I've gotten in the habit of turning in the wagon, on a trader delivery, into the yellow circle before I kill the dudes. Then I do slow and steady, killing dudes and moving along looting them; I leave something like one dude alive while looting the rest (making sure the "blue" trade guys are still alive.) Then I kill that guy, usually his corpse stays around while it loads me somewhere nearby with my horse. Otherwise, most/all of the corpses can just "poof." Why it does that, I don't know. I turn in the wagon first so that it is "saved" basically, no one can come by and blow it up or something. Otherwise, yeah the bodies would remain until the wagon was turned in. With ambushes I also try to move along and loot them, as I kill, so I get them all before any poof. BUT THE BENZ

If you put a 3 star animal on your horse it will stay a 3 star unless you somehow damage it, but it will not automatically degrade/decompose

Not sure if it's a glitch or not but, on a couple of occasions, I've been so far away from roadblock revenue agents that they don't even shoot at me. They do react to getting shot at but don't shoot back. And, when I go to loot them, only the last person I killed is available to be looted. That is as I'm aware of not related to any animals. Nevertheless nothing stays forever, they just disappear... Toady I cleared a hideout in Pikes Basin, and the only corpse remained was the gang leader. Pretty akward since there was about ten or more enemies shooting at me.So I think the NPC bodies despawning is pretty broken right now... Therefore (as I said before), stay in combat close range! I read his whole post, why I put the "?" because the only "bodies" that decompose in story are are animals. They also said they hadn't noticed it online yet, which animals don't decompose online. See my logic for offering a different answer?
