It’s not a reason for not looking at it objectively as a car. It rightly sold well particularly in poorer countries after the war because it was cheap, reliable and well built by workers who had nothing to do with the Nazis. Obviously the in game version doesn’t have these kind of tangible attributes.

I know I've mentioned it before, but growing up with the old classic Herbie movies is definitely why I love the car. It was just a charmer, and all I can hear is those movies' theme music playing as I doodle about in mine, lol.

 

Much the same for the DB5 or the Lotus in James Bond for example, just all gems from my childhood and the nostalgia kicks in. These types of cars became beloved characters as much as anything, especially Herbie. Had I been 10 when Pixar's Cars movie arrived, I know Lightning McQueen would be right up there with Herbie too (well, to be fair, I love Lightning McQueen and Co. anyway).

 

I just prefer to concentrate on the fun aspects of these things born out of controversial times/adversity as, if I'm not mistaken, there was lots of good technology that came out of WWII too. Sure, the car may have history with that savage man and his goons, but look at the good it's provided too, from a beloved movie character to, as you showed, a reliable cheap car that had a positive reach in poorer parts of the world.

This is painful for me to vote on. Sparrow, Kosatka, Toreador and the Manchez Scout are vehicles that grinders have taken to heart now, and the Weevil is a fantastic addition to the game, a very much needed one.

But the vehicles that I use the least of the list is the Kosatka and the Manchez Scout, if I look at it from a non-grinder perspective. Are these vehicles bad? f*ck no, they're the pinnacle and must-haves for paying mr. Rubio a visit once or twice a day, I use them a lot for that. But as said, my perspective is for freemode, and as such I have voted according to that. Heck, I don't even own a Manchez Scout, but it's the best vehicle to use on the tropical money island.

Me too; I have never understood the fandom behind such an ugly looking and badly performing vehicle. Back in my student days, it was accessible to people on a budget, I guess, which explains why people feel so nostalgic about it today.

I think the Toreador is overrated, to be honest. Yeah, its a looker, but its basically the equivalent of the Oppressor MK2 to the Stromberg which is kinda annoying to me. Yeah, I get they had to add a new vehicle that'd fit in the Kosatka's moon pool, but I think the Toreador feels like a cheap cop-out rather than an actually fun vehicle.

The originals are nice movies for little children but I’m not sure this is a good reason for upvoting it here. Herbie itself would have no place in GTA, or anything else from a kids movie. If you mix the two, in the first minute Herbie gets blown up by a flying rocket bike and the movie is over.

 

Moreover the Weevil about to survive longer than one of the most useful vehicles is the game. A newcomer to these forums would probably look at these result and think “these lot are idiots”. I’m glad my names not against dumping so much favour on a poor choice.

To be fair, there's plenty in this game from kids shows/flicks. I mean even Fast and Furious are kids movies these days. Batman, Speed Racer, The A-team, James Bond, Mr. Bean's Mini, Doc's Delorean from BTTF, Tron bikes, allsorts could be seen as from a kids this or that as they're hugely popular with young'uns. Loads of these things came from popular/cult TV or Film that many GTA fans loved as kids or new kids fall in love with.

 

And that flying bike is made for kids, lol. But you could say the same about any car/bike/aircraft that doesn't have weapons or defences, boom and they're doomed. All useless except the racing metas. Car meets in F&F would be instantly wiped out (as they often are in GTA, lol). The A-Team would be in trouble against that Oppressor too. Think of poor Mr Bean being chased by one. 

 

As for the newcomers, they probably think we're loopy anyway, but these cult things tend to have a wider reach and many have a good understanding of historically popular things. Many know who Herbie is without ever watching those flicks for example, the Delorean, etc. And with modern remakes/sequels keeping these things in pop culture, they only grow.

 

Don't get me wrong, I get what your saying, the car is a bit Marmite like, love em or hate em, lol.

 

That said, if the Sparrow didn't exist, it wouldn't really change the game much either, a few seconds saved here and there is all really. It's very useful but does nothing the Buzzard can't really, or the Oppressor MKII etc. To me, as much as I enjoy using my Sparrow, it's just a means to an end and I'd be fine without it, but having a Herbie replica to faff about with is just that bit more me. Just nostalgic fun. I've never cared about grinding or the quickest/most efficient this or that and rarely vote based on that. Though as I said, aside racing meta cars, they're all just cars at the end of the day too. That's why I enjoy these games as we learn why people enjoy things we may not ourselves or see things in a new light after reading others thoughts, not that I'm looking to change yours/people's minds of course.

 

Sorry for the long one, just the car has more a place in my heart than another chopper, and as one who doesn't really enjoy flying over driving, I prefer my lil' love bug. But top 5 is more than good enough for me.

The Sparrow getting eliminated before the Weevil would be just silly. Yes, the Sparrow is an inferior version of the existing Sea Sparrow, so doesn't deserve to compete for the win, but it's a whole lot better than a car that's a fetish or talisman at best.

Elimination games are definitely not that. I mean, the Alkonost in 12th place, the Weevil in 4th and the Manchez Scout in 3rd . It's been a good game though, I've had fun with it.
