What small details do you wish were in GTA San Andreas?

I've always wished that the hydra could have a mounted machine gun.

 

The VTOL (vertical take off and landing) was well designed but at closer rangers where you might not want to use missiles or simply because they'd miss, a heavy MG would be handy.

 

I really don't know how the enemy Hydra AI would behave with this but I'm curious to see.

There were some details present in the previous 3D games (III and VC) that didn't make it out to SA. My personal favourite was blowing up limbs by shooting at them (not just the head). I also liked palm trees being blown away by nearby choppers and underwater easter eggs (the cement shoes guy and sunken freighter in VC), weird considering SA finally allowed us to swim and dive.

Holdups, strange they never returned. Didn't they plan them in the beta or is that just baseless speculation?

It feels weird they didn't, not like they would've required much time to add. Now that I think about it, Maybe the mission "Ryder" was supposed to introduce them?

Another GTA Fan

For me, the ability to pick up weapons via pressing a button instead of it being automatic would have been fantastic. They already had the feature for hitting a button when trying to pick up a weapon that would replace one you already had, they just needed to take it a little further.

I wouldn't call it an obsession, but it's a bit of a mini-meme of mine, for want of a better word. Surrounding SF airport there are these little docks with ladders that lead all the way back up to the top. Anybody who's ever fluffed a jump from the road above will know the annoyance of falling short and landing in the water. If you're unlucky, a boat won't have spawned and this leaves you awkwardly treading water wondering what your next move is. Your best bet is usually swimming far enough away and back again, hoping one will have appeared. Having a ladder there is purely aesthetic because you can't do a damn thing with them, and it's almost like you're being teased.

 

Somebody mentioned holding up businesses and this is something that completely slipped my mind, but I agree. Being able to rob stores at gunpoint would have been nice. It doesn't detract from the experience, but VC did a decent job at introducing it. Of course, for everything VC did that wasn't carried over there's about a dozen things SA does right so I'm not complaining.

Well, in the mission "Local Liquor Store," there is a group of criminals with twin brothers who look exactly alike, as they are identical triplets along with Benny. If you follow them for long enough, they will end up on the north east side of Los Santos with the crappy little houses. I feel like this adds a lot to Benny lore.

Countryside gangs, something like a biker gang, or skinheads, something to add more life to the countrysides, along with maybe a city/town in flint county.

It's the one feature in SA that doesn't feel fleshed out. SA has a ton of features that weren't fleshed out but none of them feel fleshed out because SA is a game of variety. Even if something feels smaller than it should the fact that it's in the game makes the game feel bigger. Ladders do the opposite. Their addition around SA does nothing but point out a flaw in both the game design and the game world.

 

That being said, as much as I want ladders, given the choice I would have changed the vigilante missions to take more advantage of locations. As much as I love the variety in SA at the end of the day I think we can all agree that shootouts are the most enjoyable "game play element" and there isn't enough methods of having those happen in unexpected/un-used places. I would have overhauled the vigilante activity to have criminals appear at pre set locations (like the SF alleys or the western town) rather than in cars on the road. No rhyme or reason to the spawns either just random spawns of random enemies depending on your vigilante level. It wouldn't be extremely exciting but the mere fact alone that you could be lead to mostly un used areas to the map to have shoot outs could have added hours of more enjoyment.

More lively safehouses that interact and progress with the storyline as it goes on, GTA SA safehouses felt so dead at times, they were such a step backwards from Vice City, where you could see things changing at crucial moments of the story, I loved how the Vercetti State slowly degraded after it was took from Diaz, it really lets you feel theres no longer a soul in charge of it aside from you.

- NO BARRIERS and 4 Stars at the beginning of the game (Available Savehouses, Restaurants, Shops) 

- Buying stuff for savehouses (From Tools to Cars)

- Car, Bike or even Boat- Plane Gallery for buying..

- Eating something and showering at Savehouses

- No Interior Universe like GTA VC or IV,V

- Missing animations (Like Detonating Bombs, Parachute)

- More parkour animations like GTAIV :)

- Proper freeway that connects all three cities

-Climbing ladders.

-The ability to use any car we like in the races.

-More performance modifications besides nitrous.

-Store robberies like Vice City.

I always wanted a wrecked Sadler near Grove Street to reference the old one that Ryder had in the Beta. I've done a CLEO like that, but if it was in vanilla it could have been x100 times better.

The ability to disarm enemies with well placed shots. That way disarming enemies would give you more criminal rating somehow, and melee fighting would be of more use in GTA series. And besides, it'd help a lot to a mod I've been thinking of lately...

:v also go to interior without loading like gta iv (i know we have open san andreas, but that mod never continue again).
