starting kuruma's color matches the color of Statue of Liberty. Is it coincidence?

Recommended Posts

Starting kuruma has unique color and I didn't know why. But recently, one reddit user found out the color matches that of Statue of Liberty.

Is it coincidence? maybe 'Give Me Liberty' also means 'Give Me (Statue of) Liberty' :D

Anyway, it's a convincing reason for the starting kuruma being a rare car.

That's a pretty interesting one. Initially I thought it was a long bow to draw, but it does seem like it may have some truth to it.

Cool find.

There's no reason to add new blue-ish color cuz Kuruma already has blue color version.. so I think it was intentional :D

I compared the Statue and the Kuruma's color one by one and it's really similar

Great find!

It's a bit of a stretch at first but I guess it isn't entirely impossible. If that was the intention then I wonder if the guy who came up with this decision still remembers it or not.

Yeah. It's amazing people are still finding new things in 20 years old game

Haha. Nice theory but indeed is just a coincidence.

Yeah. But I still wonder why they made that one kuruma unique colored :)

Ha, nice find! I wonder if whoever coded this mission picked this colour on purpose - probably.

I wish I could know! Maybe I'll ask them if they do 20 years anniversary QnA this october

Doesn't really mean anything.

Initially it was a purple Sentinel, then later a dark red Sentinel and only in the end a teal Kuruma.

It's just a color, redditors are reading too much into it.

As a mod maker myself - no, they don't.

There's usually a reason behind these things, especially when assigning a unique colour to this car that played no rôle.

Being picky and changing the smallest details is an absolutely normal thing - I do it all the time, even if their relevance and significance only makes sense to me.

I wouldn't be surprised it it was GTA 5, because it was entirely a money making product - but GTA 3 was one of the early games which the developers created with as much love as a want for money.

Like I said, it changed a bunch of times without much purpose. With visual proof we have of the prior versions.

Is the change from a BMW in the beta to a Dodge Intrepid also meant to be symbolic in the final game? I doubt it.

Claiming it's somehow teal green to represent a statue is as long a shot as possible.

What's the next claim going to be? That somehow that entirely random crashed Mafia Sentinel on the bridge that's also a unique blue color is meant to symbolize some deeper meaning about the Mafia in the US and the color is somehow symbolic of the modern world or what's next?

Heck, even the crashed Enforcer wasn't carefully looked at because it still has the beta colored decal on it.

Just because we care about every little detail while making mods, it doesn't mean that every detail has to matter more than "ooh this color looks neat" to the designer.

I did not deny this. They played with different options, and then when the game was near completion they went over and added the finishing touches, colour of Kuruma possibly being one of them.

Why assign a special colour that's not that much different from a standard light blue to the car in the first place? Your claim that it's "just neat" is no better that the OP's claim that it's a nod to the Statue of Liberty's colour.

So then Ken's unique white Admiral in Vice City is supposed to represent cocaine? I'm sorry but I just don't see how one leads to the other.

Also this still doesn't answer why there's a random Mafia Sentinel with a unique blue color, destroyed and in flames nearby.

So yeah, I think that my assumption that "it's just neat" is fair judgment. Not everything has to be symbolic or have a deeper meaning than a design choice.

We might never know the purpose, I think it isn't a bad thing to build fun theories :) For me, it's one of the reasons why I am still playing the game. It sometimes make things like the unique kuruma somewhat cooler.

But it's true we should avoid spamming meaningless theories :D

Thanks for your opinion! 👍🏻

Unlikely, but for all we know it could be.

Well, no, because this thread is about Kuruma. You can create a separate thread about Sentinel colour, and I'll come in and say that it's a cool find if I find the facts believable. 👍
