Ken---KenKo Posted May 18, 2003 Share Posted May 18, 2003 Okay, I have tried atleast 10 times. How do you keep the man who drives that car from dying? Everytime I do this, somepoint in the race I go into 1st w/o seeing that man or his car. Then when I cross the finish line, it says mission failed 'name'(I cant remember his name) is dead. Mabye to see if I am doing something wrong? Average Race: we start next to each other, he pushes me into the second block and speeds away. I try quickly to get back on course while chrashing up my car and then there are like 6 cop cars on my tail knocking me all around and then my car blows up. I steal a new car and sometimes later on the trck w/o any trace of a crash, explosion, or anything I go into first. Then at the end I lose and get a black screen. cbarnes913 Posted May 19, 2003 Share Posted May 19, 2003 yep.. i have been having the same problem. ive tried to follow him and watch him throughout the whole mission, and i've got a screenshot to prove the crappiness of the PC version of this game: That pink thing is actually the pink arrow that is suppose to point down at Hilary's car, except his car seems to be under the road. When I finish the race, Hilary is dead, and I fail the mission. I expected better for 50 bucks. I have tried to play the mission about ten times. Typically, I hit the last checkpoint and it says he is dead, and then the screen goes black. Once, it did tell me he was dead before I finished and the game did not crash. I am angry to say the least. There are plenty of other issues that need to be fixed. I am not going to screenshot all of them. Take my word for it. The textures sometimes choose not to load until I've slammed into what looks like air, but then turns into a wall/gaurdrail/etc. That is a bit bothersome, especially in a clutch, like when time is against you, or the cops are. Sometimes I end up driving over a half loaded road. The basic structure is there, but the final detailed structures are not. It makes it look like you are floating above a dirt road when infact there is suppose to be asfault under you. Same goes with buildings: sometimes the basic shape is there, but the detail is not. I have also walked into the Malibu Club but without the building loading at all, so it looks like I am walking through a lawn. I HAVE HAD THIS GAME FOR THREE DAYS! I should NOT be so dissatisfied with something after only THREE days. And, yes, I have noticed that there is ALREADY a patch for certain graphics issues. This corrects absolutely none of my problems. Do ya think it is a good sign that there is already a patch correcting issues after THREE DAYS?! In its defense, I really like the gameplay, although the camera angles can be crappy from time to time, but ya can't be perfect in that area. I think I will call tech support in the morning and tell them about all the problems I have been having, and I am considering returning the game completely. My appologies for going so far off topic, but this Hilary thing sent me over the edge on this game. Rockstar should do a little more testing before releasing their games next time. I've got to be the biggest azzh0le when it comes to criticizing modern games and game companies and even I think it's a spectacular game, the best I've played in a while. I have the solution its sort of cheating but the only way to finish this wretched mission. go to you gta vc directory and then open up a folder called data. Then open up handling.cfg. Look for SABRETUR now scroll right and goto 180.0 change that to 50.0. Now look for 32.0 change that to 02.0 SAVE and start up vice and keep at the same speed as hilary until the cops start coming after you. Now just go through all of the checkpoints and there you go you just passed the worst mission in VCPC Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
cbarnes913 Posted May 23, 2003 Share Posted May 23, 2003 I never said the game itself was crappy. Well, depends on what you mean by the game. I like the gameplay, the plot, and all of that. I just wish that rockstar had worked out all the kinks before they released it. And it isn't just one bug that pisses me off so bad, although this bug in particular keeps me from finishing the game. It is the fact that this is not the only bug. Has anyone else had problems with textures loading? Sometimes the roads don't load for a few seconds after I drive over them, sometimes not at all. And the fact that walls and objects are sometimes invisible until I run into them piss me off. I returned the game. Maybe I'll consider buying it again after they work out all the kinks, but right now I am not a satisfied customer. Other than that, has anyone figured out why the "Hilary is dead" bug occurs on only some machines? Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I took the shot from the otherside, but afterward when I ran the mission again, I was right behind him and watched him drive right through the bridge. Can anyone get a shot of that?
