I don't think E&E would really generate any more hype for VI than just announcing VI on its own would. If anything I think it'd work the other way and E&E would be leaching off of the GTA VI hype/attention.

I think E&E gets a year, at the very least, to stand on its own before any sort of sequel announcement.

I completely agree.
It makes no sense to think E&E could boost VI hype. A minor re-release of an over saturated 8 year old game can help to draw attention of the most anticipated game of all.
it's against of all marketing rules. Imagine Marvel re-releasing  Avengers Infinity War one week before Endgame.

They could also add small bits of GTA VI content like they did with the RDR2 revolvers, it's an excellent way to promote the next game.

If GTA VI sets in the past, then a time capsule would be perfect item for that purpose.

Will GTA VI have an E&E version?

In 2030 we will be discussing this.

And I'm gonna bring up this comment by that time.

What happens if GTA6 is set in the present time, and GTA5 is still in 2013? 🤔

That was AFTER V. People can't read.

Excuse me, I can read just fine thankyou.

You said he quit acting before V, I said he was clearly acting after V. That's all.

Vice City was released 16 years after it's 1986 setting. VI may take as long so... 2013 nostalgic marketing?

I think a realistic date for the announcement is October-December 2022

Rockstar will announce it this year if they believe VI has a chance for a 2022 release date, even if it means pushing it back to 2023 when it inevitably isn't ready. It doesn't seem realistic though. A 2022 announcement for a 2023 release which is delayed back to 2024 seems far more plausible.

I don't think Rockstar has a problem releasing GTA VI. I bet the tools alone to develop the game are overkill such as procedural generating levels, characters, etc. Its probably already playable, regardless of its stage, someone in this world most likely played GTA VI today.

So are we all under the general consensus that GTA VI will be a 2023 release? I think so. Makes sense at this stage. GTA V remaster II releasing for current gen. Yeah, milk those current gen Shark Cards a bit more.

Also, heard rumours about a multiple city GTA and one of the cities is Los Santos to continue on GTA Online. Not sure what to make of that.

Edit: Also that rumour indicates all previous GTA cities. Maybe there is no trilogy remaster, just those cities in a new GTA. Most likely not but fun to think about.

You'd be surprised. I doubt there is a playable version of the game that they're just sitting on. It's possible most of the work has been done, but bringing everything together and getting it to run well takes a while. I don't doubt that there would be a nice vertical slice that gives a good feeling for what the game may offer though.

Somewhere, in the T2 Headquarter, Zelnick and co. are watching R* internal presentation of GTA VI, and agreed to milk GTA V instead.

I don't think he wants to keep releasing GTA V over and over again. I think even Zelnick wants GTA VI :kekw:

R* had better be careful. All it takes is one disgruntled dev to spill all the beans and flee to a remote village somewhere.

R* if you're reading this: Don't push the fans too far, don't push the devs too far. You might just find you're getting pushed back.

In a way I would feel some sick satisfaction if GTA6 was leaked and an offical release was canned altogether. Boycott/sabotage the whole thing I don't care anymore.

Part of an interview with Dan Houser, at the launch of GTA V in 2013.

Quote

You said that you would finish GTA when it stopped being interesting, but the games industry now depends heavily on its brands. Can you really imagine a future without it?

Well, we don't need to worry about it just yet, because we're not there. I don't think about this, I just do my little bits and pieces so that no one's shouting, "where's your work, you bastard?" That's my day to day. Worrying about the next couple of games, helping to run the business, that's more than enough for me. So far, when it comes down to it… we wanted this game to be one where you'd go, I played San Andreas, I've played GTA IV, I liked them, but I know I'm going to be bored by this one, and then you put it in and say wow. We wanted this game to be jaw-dropping – in terms of its scope, in terms of its design ambition, we're always looking for that.

So there's no 10-year plan at Rockstar HQ for GTA?

This was the best game we could make at this point in time – we're not holding anything back for the future. If you said to me now, go and design another GTA, I'd be like, 'Oh what the f*ck am I going to do next?' But hopefully, when the time comes, we will figure out what was good, what wasn't, and what could be improved with a bit of tech. The reason the game is still vibrant and exciting 11 years after it went into 3D is because we haven't done that. We've gone all out on every version to try and make the absolute best game we could make at that time.

And yes, we've had to cut features out because they couldn't be done, or whatever it might be, but each time we've been ambitious and pushed ourselves as hard as we could. Of course a part of me would love not to have to worry about GTA anymore, but another part of me goes, I'm so excited to see what the guys have come up with and what we can all do when the time comes. We're focused purely on finishing this – and that's what allows us to maintain some semblance of sanity.

"where's your work, you bastard?"

'"Oh what the f*ck am I going to do next?"

This quote is so close yet so far from the reality right now.

What if E&E receives the same treatment as the GTAV Single Player DLC?

Very unlikely at this point. You don't have to worry about that

Probable timeline:

-> Second half of 2021: GTA V E&E

-> End of 2021: Some announcement (remaster/remake)

-> Second half of 2022: Release of (remaster/remake)

-> Late 2022: VI announcement

-> Second half of 2023/ Early 2024: VI release
