Tez himself said this though, which is a well known fact anyway-

In fact most of the community expected a 2022-'23 release which matches up with Jason's initial expectations in that podcast. Something like GTAVI would take at least 5+ years of full development imo and if it was in very very early stages of development Jason could've easily said 2024-'25 in that podcast but he didn't. Jason said 2024-'25 exactly in mid 2021 only after the pandemic hit and showed no signs of stopping even after a year.

All these makes me wonder if most of the confusion is caused due to what one really means by 'early development'. If VI's full production began in 2017-'18 then by the time Jason posted his article in 2020 it has only been 1.5-2 years of full production with 2-3 years of more work left so it's not at all unusual to say it's in early development.

The script is usually done first right so if they started working on the script before covid any references to it will feel ham-fisted unless they are easter eggs

I think something like that is given honestly. The mobile F2P space is way too lucrative for any third party publisher to ignore. It's larger than console and PC gaming combined. In fact acquiring Zynga makes it easier for T2, so that Zynga could work on those mobile titles while Rockstar focuses on console titles, you know, like Timi Studios developed CoD Mobile while Activision's own studios focused on console titles.

I'm pretty sure they create a rough outline of the story first and then flesh it out and change stuff when mocap is going on, in fact rewrites are a part of long productions like this. If they want they can easily incorporate covid in the game in many ways.

Also, don't forget about cloud gaming. The time is ripe for experimentation.

 

With 5G upon us, and if cloud services continue to improve, my next computer will probably be hmm... "thinner".

If GTA is a satire about american culture adding covid makes perfect sense though they can talk about anti vaxxers , people who think wearing masks are giving away their freedom gta can easily poke fun at these elements

Depends if the game is set in present day or in the past. With a game in the past  there wouldn't be a need to add COVID to the story as COVID-19 didn't exist during that time. I really hope we get a game set in the past.

I want a real immersive prison experience. Our protagonist gets sent away late in the story and once in jail you can't use any money as you're nobody there everything you had on the outside doesn't matter here. Instead you gotta use a different form of currency on the inside like cigarettes, drugs, and pr0n magazines which you can trade or steal from other prisoners. Weapons aren't allowed in jail so you gotta make your own like a shank. Just make sure to watch out for contraband checks when the guards check your cell. In order to see what's happening on the outside world you gotta meet with your contacts and can add them to the visitors list and they can only visit you once a week for a limited amount of time seperated by glass and can't really discuss much in detail. Depending on the time period you could smuggle in a cell phone. Additionally your lawyer will visit you and you can have one hour discussing things in private.

 

Working out in the prison yard and Interacting with other prisoners is important too jail can sometimes be like college for criminals as you're around other criminals 24/7 they can teach you certain skills like different techniques that can help you later on as well as networking the guys you meet inside could be available for jobs later on when you get released. Imagine pulling off a heist and you bring along some of the buddies you met in jail. You could also piss off some people in jail and once you get out words out on the street and you got some gangs after you.

In the past.. 

Years ago I woulda wished for that and I don't mind. 

But I assume it will be set in present / future. 

 

By this point I even don't care any more how much unrealism they add. 

 

And I see no hope for the writing. 

Latest dlc goes to show. Game is out, what, 9 years or something. 

 

Short trips really need to recite and refer to them jokes from 2013?

 

All gta online got is what I hoped for a single player offline campaign but I guess this outdated

Not yet, but I'm a big fan of Graham Hancock & Randall Carlson, who have both spoken about a meteor/asteroid impact that hit earth about 12,000 years ago, that effectively reset human civilization back to the stone age. And wiped out advanced human civilizations that existed back then. They've both been ridiculed and their theories labelled "pseudoscience". So I'm very familliar with it, and I'm looking forward to watching that movie some time soon.

 

Quite off topic, but it's a very, very fascinating subject. And guess what? It's gonna' happen again. Just a matter of when...

About the COVID being in the game or not. I think there might be a few comments here and there in a satirical form, but nothing too substantial like NPCs wearing masks or lockdowns.

scientists arent  infallible. Theyre human beings just like you and I. And unfortunately, mainstream science has become pretty dogmatic in recent years, which goes against everything science and the scientific process stands for. But Ima just drink my covid curing tea

Covid would work in a Watch Dogs lore, you know - Blum, and so on - but I don't want to see this in any Grand Theft Auto game.

I don't think we need anything pandemic related in GTA VI, but considering NFTs were ripped on in the latest GTAO DLC, it's possible that anti-vaxxers will get some limelight.

I am really glad tbh!

I enjoy Rockstars utter demise and hope for worst. Not because i am a hater or bad person but because its the only thing that can light a fire under their ass to make great content once again.

 

Also its good that crunch died (good for the developers and their families specifically) but you can already see the results of the more laid back style of development...

 

Or the lack of results to be precise.
