GTA 6 Speculation & Discussion [Part 5.69]

I think that part of game happening in past was scrapped entirely (since it would be twice a work and that confirms Schreier's report of next GTA being "moderately sized" aka "GTA V sized")

also, staying in current day will more opportunities to online stuff (regardless if you like it or not)

Let me tell you, if this game is GTA 5 sized after all this wait, especially now that people knows how long RDR2 is, Rockstar will be massacred.

I'm perfectly aware of that; that's why I have no expectations

also, in that case Schreier will call people being angry about next GTA being letdown "entitled gamergate cretins" or something like that

The original Project Americas leak never mentioned anything regarding the time period VI is set in, whether it is past or present. This rumor of two eras being in a single game is also something not a single credible source ever uttered except bullsh*t 4chan and Reddit posts piggybacking off of the Project Americas info. This is basically us setting the stage for our own disappointment.

Nobody will bat an eye if it was as long as GTAV which itself is a pretty long game, longer than both IV and RDR1. The world and it's systems would be 100 times more detailed than V anyway and that has been always been the selling point of GTA imo.

I just thought I'd drop in to say this is my 1,000th post in this god forsaken thread. Maybe GTA VI will be announced before I make my 69,000th post here...

I was just looking at that yesterday, you being at 999 in the leaderboard. Was expecting a 1000th post soon. :kekw:

Rockstar is also aware of that, and so is Take Two, maybe they've moved every single studio focus to GTA 6, so we can have a RDR2 sized game until 2025 after this rumored reboot in its development, and maybe that's why we haven't seen another game from them yet and why they stopped updating Red Dead Online.

GTA 5 is longer than RDR1 sure, but not than GTA 4, unless you count the Strangers and Freaks, which aren't main missions, if that's the case, then the smart thing Rockstar can do is make more main missions and less side missions, this way it will give the impression that the game is longer than GTA 5, while it actually isn't, my main concern is the map though, it has to be at least twice the size of GTA 5's.

I think we'll see next update as late as February

It better be something as good as Moonshiners at least man, if its another garbage like Bounty Hunters or Blood Money, players will be pissed.

If people are still playing RDO at this point then they should be pissed at themselves 🤷🏾‍♂️

This is a common misconception. GTAV has both a longer main story and more side missions than IV at the same time. It has less number of missions but the missions themselves are longer. It feels shorter because it has 3 protagonists to focus on at the same time and much much more tightly paced compared to IV.

Map will be definitely larger than V but if Rockstar thinks about expanding the map over time the initial offering might not be insanely big. Maybe that's what Schreier was talking about. I mean they do need a a large, varied map for a fleshed out online experience to last for a long time anyway so they'll figure something out.

A VI with Vice City, Cuba and Liberty City would be my wet dream.

But as long as we get more than one major city, I'm fine with any combination. The focus on one city from V got boring really fast and is unbearable by now.

How trustworthy have Inside Gaming (project americans leak) been for other leaks? To me, it covers too many things to be real. I mean the source talks about location, characters and even a potential release window, all of which wouldnt be known by your average employee. Imo if this was written on a 4chan post it would have been either thrown out as fake or speculation by a fan

This. Only the weapon entries found in RDR2 vaguely hint at a past setting, but it's also possible that Rockstar would just put a 70s-90s type of cartel story into the modern day. They did pull from many classic heist movies for GTA V, and those were all set before the 21st century as well, so it would be a similar thing of "classic trope, but modern day"

Rockstar North Limited has now been renamed to Rockstar Games UK Limited

I guess so it's not confused with the one Rockstar North in Edinburgh. The Ltd included all the UK studios.

And It Came To Pass

@evelpod666 Companies House -> /////

It's meaningless information and barely news, but it's something new, still.

Kind of funny 'cos the original name was Rockstar Studios, which is what I guess they are now(?).

You're right, that doesn't even have to mean GTA 6 will be set in the past. There are numerous countries and criminal organisations all over the world that are using weapons from the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s.

Nice find this is indeed the Edinburgh Studio.

Well the problems are these typical "flashing out" possiblities of current day settings start to really wear out after all these years, nothing feels that fresh and interesting anymore.Buzzard firing your ass?Okay.Hacking networks? Watch Dogs clone?Space cannon,mk booster vehicles?Ain't the first time neither. Not only the game,I'd say even the real world ain't feel very much refreshing comparing to 8 years ago, both from technology side and society cultural stuff, while the 2008-2013 era we do have lots of new fancy things you never seen before popping out all the time.(Even the style of general pop music feels so stale  that not a few artists start to promote those samey 80s retro type beats now and then, look at Lady Gaga, one of 00 era's biggest pop queens, from The Fame era all the way till the latest Chromatica,eh...And let's not mention hip hop's transition from 'I feel like a badass, with the synth powering up I can fly this mtf Bugatti to the sky!' to 'For godsake stop using the trapbeats and horrible hihats!  )So you really can't do any magic here to make the game feels like something new,at least not for current generations.Going back to a previous era is not old fashioned when the current era stays the same giving you nothing new nonstop.Maybe better return to 2020 era when GTA7 or GTA Online season 2069 becomes a thing for Sam Houser's grandson to look up to imo.

Actually something I been thinking about, this new online dlc would serve really well for putting the whole gta v and LS online chapter to an end.We start the game in Los Santos with Franklin and Lamar, somehow end with them after years later when the online dummies are too high to do anything,so leaving everything in the open.Heck Franklin and Lamar is even required for players to enter online, why rushing the opportunity here?

all those stuff didn't concern the shareholders, since GTAO turned into "Fortnite for millenials" money printing machine; I wouldn't be shocked if next GTA will turn to be stale

People: Complain about things that are in GTA V

Also people: Praise GTA IV even though it has some of the things they don't like about GTA V

Me: Visible Confusion

I couldn't have done it without Rockstar's lack of GTA VI Announcement.

The game is far away, sure. But why there people doubt fall 2022 announcement? It’s not like going to release on it’s first day announcement, but at least confirmation what the people need. Also GTAV and rdr2 their announcement and release gap was 2 years, meaning there have to be a high chance that it’s going to be revealed by the new year. And it doesn’t matter if it takes 2/3 years between release and announcement, every game dose have to get a delay. The last of us 2 for example, the timeline between announcement and release was 4 years! So yeah.

Not the only "success story" based on that... Rockstar always knew how to make gold. :kekw:

If You Want to Know the Future, Look at the Past.

RDR2 was announced just one year before its planned release date. Expect the same thing for GTA VI. Assuming they have planned to release VI in Fall 2024, they would announce it in October/November 2023.

I’m still expecting 2024/2025 release date, but at least a confirmation from rockstar will be enough in 2022, and after few months in 2023 we get the announcement. That’s my point.

very curious to see what updates gta v gets this year. i think there is 60% chance of VI getting announced this year

edit - by this year i mean 2022
