Right now it’s what have you done for me lately and right now Rockstar has given us The broken GTA trilogy and GTA online. Gamers move on quickly RDR2 was nice and all but that was three years ago and Rockstar stopped caring for it.

I always get excited for the competition because they give us new cities, features, and ideas that Rockstar would never do and even if the game ends up bad I’ll still play it except for a certain one *cough* Saints Row reboot *cough*

Yeah that reboot is gonna be horrible but the sad thing is other companies are gonna look at its failure and be scared away from making a GTA competitor if they weren’t already. What these companies need to understand is we want a good crime game not that corny sh*t that is the Saints Row reboot.

Nothing at all in T2's corporate strategy is even remotely progressive or optimistic. I'm stating the obvious of course, but shouldn't investors worry about what happens when the expensive and irrelevant legal battles fizzle out, win or lose?

Nah they got a good pipeline in the works. From those presentations slides it said they hope to get 7 sports simulation games released. That's big news because their 2K sports label is very weak. Like super weak aside from NBA 2K.

I beleive its all down to console line ups.

 

Its a very strange place to release a flagship title at the moment. I think we can assume if gta6 is actually in development it will be aimed towards xbox series X and PS5 and this poses the issue that GTA has always been a hardware seller and the hardware just isn't out there readily avaliable enough to support a new release.

 

I think it would really have take 2 slightly jittery at announcing anything right now in fear of affecting sales as people won't be able to play it.

 

But then on the other hand with the actual profit machine of GTA5 being launched over almost 3 generations they may wait until the end of PS5 and series X lifetime in order to maximise those cross platform sales. This seems to be backed up with the fact we are just getting expanded & enhanced on current gen and all other info is quite in terms of 6.

I wish I would feel the same about GTA V. My relationship with this game was always pretty rough (I'm talking about freeroam gameplay) but RDRII destroyed it for me completely. I don't feel that way about any other Rockstar's game.

I felt the same way for a long time, but on PC it feels like a whole new experience, for me. And there's something that makes me always come back to GTA even though the freeroam/open world is arguably better in RDR2. Maybe it's the modern setting, cars, radio, flying, etc that RDR2 doesn't have. I'm sure RDR2 on PC at 4k would be amazing as well but I can't try it now.

You should know better. All these people are working on GTA Online and GTA V E&E  By the way, they had way more employees even in 2018

They should be able to use the tech they have right now to make an open world crime game like gta. The problem is that I don't see anyone at Ubisoft with the creative vision to try to build such world. The best candidate would be Dan Hay, but he has left Ubi.

Problem with Ubisoft is that they get they get so close but then they do something stupid and we’re like ughhh why Ubisoft why? Watch Dogs Legion finally a modern open world game in London but they decided to make it futuristic which no one asked for and got rid of all the good things the older games had. Ubisoft goes through cycles they change their plan every 4-5 years or so it’s why they’re working on that stupid ass Assassin’s Creed Infinity.

 

It is kinda crazy though that in the past 10 years they’ve released more open world games than Rockstar has.

Open world games are an expensive endeavor. It makes very little sense to spend all that money actively trying to create a "GTA Clone". No matter how good the game is that's all people are ever going to see it as and it'll end up a cult hit at best.

God, please no. I'm so frickin' tired of games with these huge ass open worlds, that serve absolutely no purpose other than just being big for the sake of being big. Give me something set in a small town, something with ridiculous level of ambience, something Rockstar had on their mind.
