imo they will give the update that comes with GTA 6 a special name, but the main thing will still be called "GTA Online".

The problem with this theory, is that the E&E version of GTA Online is still going to be using the original version of the RAGE engine, physics, player movement etc.

 

Unless there is a point where they migrate everything to an updated GTA VI version of RAGE, which is possible.

The "experts" seem to think a brand new version of GTA Online will release, which I probably buy into these days.

If Los Santos is part of that along with say Vice City and dare we dream Liberty City etc, I'd be fine with that.

I think from a development standpoint it makes much more sense to release a separate version of GTA Online. What could happen is that it keeps the name (so not GTAO 2), but I would bet it's gonna be a separate install based on GTA VI's version of RAGE. The same way I doubt your money and property will be ported from GTA V Online to GTA VI Online, I also think they'll be separate entities.

GTAVI Online we will all be starting over again, There's no way R* is going to allow us to transfer everything we got in GTAV Online to GTAVI Online plus R* would be losing money in shark cards sells if they did allow us to transfer everything over to GTAVI because nobody is broke on GTAV Online these days.

I know most folks on here are pro single player but online is what keeps these games relevant and selling nowadays this isn’t the old days anymore lol the Average life span of single player games or modes are only a few months until most players move on to something else

That's just not true. Sure, most single player games have a shorter life span, no sh*t, duh. But that's not what keeps them relevant. Elder Scrolls isn't relevant because of ESO. It's relevant because it's a beloved series. people are STILL playing Skyrim. Notably because of the mod support (pay attention Take-Two) but also because BGS haven't released a new one on over 10 years. They've been busy with Fallout & Starfield.

 

If a game is good, and has solid replay value, then its lifespan will be much longer. Online doesn't keep games like these relative in the way you're thinking. It just keeps the series 'alive' instead of in hibernation until the next one. That's why GTA, RDR, Fallout, Elder Scrolls, and so on have Online modes. Because the next one is about a decade or more away.

 

At the end of the day, Online modes are mostly created and supported for one thing

The thing i am afraid of is if the single player mode will be just an addition to multiplayer in a sence, so missions structure etc would be made with online in mind primarely.

I think maybe the map could be influenced by future considerations of what would work with Online but I'd hope the basic mission structure of single player could be designed to be as good as it can be without such considerations.

 

I suppose some of the other mechanics may be a different matter... weapons, combat, and so on, for example.

Well personally I’d rather get as much out of the single player as possible and move onto another game, yes. Because I don’t want to spend my time playing the same game endlessly for years. Also I’m not particularly competitive when it comes to video games so I’m not arsed about multiplayer. Then I’d probably replay the single player after a year or so. I just do not enjoy multiplayer games. Video games for me are about relaxing and playing at my own pace and not relying on someone else. I like to have an experience that has a beginning middle and end then move on. Making loads of money and buying random stuff in online…I just don’t really care for it. 
 

Its like these YouTubers who have played it everyday for the past 8 years. I honestly don’t know how it hasn’t drove them mad.

VI + 13 = 19. 2019 they started full development on GTA VI in 2019!!!!!!

The game will take a total of 7 years to make

GTA VI will come out in 2024

I don't care how many super cars they include, how many purchasable properties there is, how many cities there are etc. If they don't have a huge focus on weapons with every gun having unique (and realistic) sounds, animations, shooting stances, physics, custoisation options etc. then I will be extremely and utterly disappointed - to the point where I will not buy the game.
