Profit is not enough, Cyberpunk 2077 was successful too but it has been trashed by most and is overall a failure. CDPR has to deliver a lot again before people trust them.

GTA VI will be the most hyped game ever once we get some trailer, it will break the internet. If its somehow a disaster like Cyberpunk 2077 or AC Unity it would ruin Rockstar's reputation. They have taken like 10 years to make this, it better be amazing

GTAVI will never be a technical disaster like 2077 or Unity. CP2077 had core game design issues and false marketing that people just might've overlooked if the game ran well enough without bugs and performance issues at launch which itself was rushed at least 1-2 years. Ubisoft overestimated PS4/Xbox One's computing power and f*cked up Unity but it's not inherently a bad game after the fixes. Sure it was worse than 2013's Black Flag but It still has the best city parkour in any AC imo.

 

Rockstar has a solid formula for GTA and they'll build upon it. They'll throw every bit of money and manpower they have to make it technically industry leading like GTAV was for PS3/360 and RDR2 was for PS4/Xbox One because - 1. they know a polished and good game will make more money in the long run than a rushed game and 2. they want the game to have a long lifecycle just like GTAV for it's online side. At worst it might be a safe game and alienates the core fans in some ways but for mainstream audience GTA is GTA. Modern urban crime games, which are almost extinct nowadays, can't even compete with GTAV/O which is a 8 year old game and was initially made on 2005-'06 level hardware. And by the looks of it, the game will have at least 5 years of full development (late 2018-early 2019 to a possible late 2023-'24 release, even 2025 is possible) barring covid issues with thousands of people working on it, so at least the game should be technically solid which will single handedly prevent another Cyberpunk.

In my opinion, I'm just happy we got something during the wait for VI. I love the environment/texutre upgrades. Can't say the same about characters, especially vice city, but isn't a deal breaker by any means imo when we have QOL improvements that will make the games more enjoyable. I can't wait to play through them again.

That being said, what are the possibilities of a March 2022 announcement for VI? Maybe after E&E? Sounds like wishful thinking, doesn't it.

To an extent. I'm still happy, and I don't want this comment to be interpreted negatively. I'm indeed very grateful. But what we're getting while waiting isn't really new. So it only goes so far. Back in the day, we had Midnight Club, Red Dead Redemption, L.A. Noire and Max Payne 3 while waiting for GTA V. And that's ignoring the GTA IV expansions.

It's weird though how we stopped getting leaked info for like almost 1 year now?

Last year (and some of them from 2019) we had the rdr 2 datamined weapons, the scout document, the dj interview talking about developers driving lambos/shooting weapons in Miami, the Miami partying, even the Cayo Perico coordinates tease (first official Rockstar tease. Yeah i consider it as official as it gets)

Even the Preacher thing that was initially backed by people like spider and Uni.

Plus Tez saying that it's more than halfway done...

 

Even if we had a restart situation what the heck happened to the leaks? 

This year was mostly trilogy leaks but even that is an outsourced project..

It seems like the storm is far away since Red Dead Redemption Remakster rumors are floating around. Yeah it is still possible for Rockstar to announce it next year, but I doubt it.

They didn't overestimate anything, they've simply f*cked up optimization like pretty much always. Every single AC since like 10 years has performance issues.

Luckily RDR was made on RAGE engine so they won't outsource it to Wardrum Studio.

Once they will announce GTA VI internet will implode and explode at the same time. No one is ready for this, I guess. It will be like another coming of Christ for gamers.

Announcement could definitely come next year. This year felt possible before they delayed GTA V E&E to March. If current situation affected GTA V so much then we can only imagine how bad it was for GTA VI. By the way, is there any interview where Rockstar mentions how they coordinate such huge projects? So much stuff requires work of many departments.

it has been taking so long to make this game even the potential leaker devs are now losing interest in to the game. Thats why theres no leaks lol
