What if Dan Houser and Leslie Benzies return to Rockstar, like Steve Jobs returning to Apple, to make a revolutionary release.

They make the new GTA.
it sells  10 billions in one week.
it got maximum reviews all over the world.
and they announce it won't have online mode.

Leslie Benzies can't stand Sam Houser and he took a lot of his former Rockstar North people with him to work on Everywhere I don't think he'll ever return to Rockstar.

Was super curious to see what Saints Row meets Cthulu was gonna look like, sad to see it binned but Hanger 13 sounds like a mess of a studio at this point. I suspect they'll either become a permanent support studio for 2K or Take-Two's labels in general or it'll get shuttered. Leaning towards the former cause everyone is buying up studios at the moment and it seems a bit of a waste to throw away an established studio right now.

And yet, funnily enough, one of the best games of the year and definitely the most refreshing released in some time is a superhero game.

 

A linear single player action adventure game with a great story and a ton of heart poured into it by the developers that doesn't have a microtransaction in sight - the recent Guardians of the Galaxy game is an absolute f*cking gem.

According to Take-Two Interactive’s Pipeline, 3 more remasters/remakes are in development and expected to be released in FY 2023-FY 2024. I would not be surprised if one of them is from Rockstar Games.

Right I believe the real reason why this is taking so long is due to Rockstar having to rewriting the full script to add the pandemic into the story line and the coming digital ID systems and the Metaverse yes... we are living in a dystopian nightmare and the world is transforming at a pace Rockstar can't keep up with

I could see H13 merge onto 2K instead, especially because their main Novato office is right by the regular 2K office iirc. Mr. Bloomberg says he was told there'll be no layoffs so maybe they're safe...

That would be dirty cheap for the project of this scale and kinda impossible. At least 5 years of development with majority of Rockstar developers makes this project really expensive.

We don't even know how much RDR2's budget (production + marketing) either. Analyst estimations say about $370-570 million. GTA will definitely cost as much or more so I'd guess $600-800 million probably, more or less Avengers Infinity War/Endgame ballpark.

Let's be honest, that way or another they already made more than enough money with GTA V and GTA Online to make VI, and many, many other games, it's pure profit at this point.
