Low-key hoping that they go for a more serious tone compared to 3 and 4. It'd be nice to have a brand new, more reined in contemporary open-world crime alternative to the wackiness that GTAO has become over the years (which I believe R* will only double down in the future on due to the game's success).

This tweet exists for a reason. And if those Snowmobile Guy rumors have any credence to them (I don't believe them myself, but if they do), GTA VI could very well come across as a Watch_Dogs clone, too. 

 

As polarizing of an opinion as it is, I find the zaniness a bit sad in hindsight. It feels like R* were so terrified of people complaining about another GTA story being "too depressing" that they went out of their way to go too far in the opposite direction with V and especially Online, just to make sure that criticism is never brought up again.

2 struck the perfect balance. It was incredibly funny as well as incredibly heartbreaking and badass (Brotherhood and Ronin storylines, mainly, but Sons of Samedi had badass moments, too). The antagonists felt threatening and the gangs well realized, unlike Saints Row The Third.

It's being announced at Gamescom. Keighley and Volition have tweeted it.

 

I got no idea about the Saints Row leaks.

I just want them to pull a Dragon Ball (Super and ignoring GT) and pretend everything after 2 never happened. The Saints are still looking for Dex and are trying to exact revenge.

 

The Ultor Corporation storyline could be rewritten and they effectively become a corporate front, none of this "they become a political party, win the election, fight aliens" bullsh*t. I want the SR2 balance back.

Well Saints Row 3 did come out around the same time when Rockstar announced GTA V.

Saints Row 1 is underrated. First open world crime game on 7th gen systems. Introduced a lot of gameplay elements that GTA ended up adopting and some that Rockstar still hasn't done.

Personally I couldn't care less about Saints Row, this completely arcade gameplay is just not my cup of tea, it reminds me PS2 games. Still, it will be interesting to see what Volition will do. They would have to be crazy to try to compete with GTA Online.

Imagine a Watch Dogs game in the 80s or 1990s based on the rudimentary hacking back in the day. Hell, there are some pretty good ideas with that concept tbh.
