GTA 6 Speculation & Discussion [Part 5.69]

Agreed. Rockstar needs to stop copying from movies and create their own ideas. But the departure of Dan Houser should hopefully bring a new fresh air into the company. I refuse to believe, that Dan Houser wrote RDR2.

Please elaborate on the bolded part because official game credits don't lie. And of course he had a team to write those games, they're fairly large projects. Even for 3D era games he did have some else who to write with him and those games were much closer to classic movies than the HD era games which have bits and pieces of classic movies in it. You can find the same elements in RDR2 also.

Quentin Tarantino is both well liked and critically acclaimed and many of his films have strong roots and elements from many 60s, 70s classic and obscure films which coincidentally are the places Rockstar takes inspiration from. His first film, 'Reservoir Dogs' was almost a loose remake of a 1987 Hong Kong film 'City on Fire'.

Or the mods/admins simply want to have at least some standards for the posts. Also inflammatory posts are never good.

I'd love to be banned for talking about GTA6 topics in the GTA6 speculation and discussion thread. He doesn't like that GTA6 is going to be modern day. If I had said "daily reminder GTA6 is going to be in the 80s" I wouldn't have gotten that warning.

They let that scottish troll post on the site so I don't think standards for posts are a thing.

That dude is just the u/GTA_VI_LEAKS of the forums.

He's actually a modern day supporter. He doesn't like the way you bait people to start the modern day vs past fights we have here on the daily.

I challenge you to link to a recent post by him if you still think that's true. Dude hasn't been around in absolute ages and I don't know why some people are so obsessed about that :kekw: Regardless, I have nothing else to say about your reminder (not even a warning) than what others already said - that's exactly it. You seemed to take it reaaaaaaal damn badly for some reason. Chill.

Bigger = / = better. Los Santos is big but personally even something as small as Valentine in RDRII is way more interesting to me than this city. It's issue, that many games are facing. Developers got so obsessed with scale to the point where they forgot about making actual game better. I'm not talking about R* ofc.

Can't blame all of them. It works for some games, like racing games where you're supposed to pass everything by at +300km/h and the gameplay's mp-heavy too, or a game like Just Cause where you spend most of time monkeying around in the air or watching things blow up.

They're in their own lane and it suits them best, but R* going for that type of map signaled a change in direction that still doesn't feel right to me after 8 years.

What exactly are you trying to accomplish by repeatedly telling people that GTA VI is set in modern day? I don't understand, why do you care so much about this that you need to convince everyone that their speculation about unannounced game is wrong?

People believing the game is going to be a period piece isn't exactly causing any problems, people are just having fun speculating

FYI there was an out of context bait post (totally unrelated to the current discussion going on in the topic atm) hidden, which is why the warning they decided to make public happened, along with past history. Just for the record.

I rest my case and can we please resume normal programming? Cheers.

Go back the past few pages, been posted here already

I'll also add that fluff articles like this that just "report" about a youtube video are garbage and you should always link the original video instead of letting sites like these get the hits they crave

GTA 6 better have realistic steak

You know, being serious, I actually want this.

RDR2's realistic assortment of edibles was brilliant and I'd love to see food return again. I was a big fan of the core system and the RPG mechanics, and I really appreciated the grounded, immersive moments it created where you'd slow down and stop at the saloon or store to get Arthur fed after a chaotic mission or long journey, and honestly these features could be even better in GTA VI.

Imagine walking into a Cluckin' Bell or your eatery of choice and ordering a bucket of chicken like in GTA SA, but with a fully detailed interior, and eating the food in first person etc.

Or if you were in a hurry, you could stop at 24/7 on your way to a mission and pick up some snacks. It'd be really cool to actually browse and see all the whacky GTA brands up close and buy things off the shelves in ala RDR2's general store.

I don't the core system would fit all that well with GTA. I'm not saying it can't, but it would be a very big change of pace (although I'd welcome it). The easiest way to achieve this is by removing regenerative health. In San Andreas or IV I'd often find myself at vending machines, fast food joints or hot dog vendors to restore my health that I just lost during a mission or after falling off a bike or a ledge. Regenerative health is boring, just give us an inventory system to store snacks. Like there already is in Online and RDR2, just without regenerating health.

They should go back to their roots and give us 8 characters to play with, this time at the same time

For real, though. Regardless of what you may think about the 3 protagonists in GTA V. Pre-release, it felt like 3x the fun and excitement. Getting 3 trailers in one day, back in April 2013 was incredible!

I like core system but I also have some doubts if it would work well in GTA.

I think it could work (Which is why I'd love to see an optional 'survival' difficulty mode in GTA) but I don't think it will happen. GTA isn't about living and 'surviving' in the wilderness like RDR2 was.

Are we setting ourselves up for disappointment if we think GTA 6 will be like RDR2?

It would definitely need huge changes. Like a quick refill of all cores at a safehouse, either as an indepent action or just whenever you save/sleep. A gym to quickly increase your stamina core/bar on a treadmill or excercise bike. If special abilities come back, they could be the third core with appropriate sidecontent to increase them. Like the gun range improves the bullet time ability, a driving school to increase slow motion driving ability, boxing or cage fighting to increase rampage ability. (Okay, I think at this point I'm just thinking of ways to improve V lmao)

Also, on the topic of special abilities, can you think of any besides the three we already had in V? Because I'm struggling to.

Most likely. Although RDR2 is a raging success for the second entry in a franchise. I mean, yeah, nothings ever gonna beat V, but that game had the brand recognition of like 10 successful games before it, and released just at the right time to get the sales for 2 console generations. RDR2 had one midly successfull, console exclusive previous entry 8 years before. So if the execs are smart, they're gonna take atleast a couple notes from RDR2.

There are a handful of features in RDR2 that need to be included in GTA VI.

IMO It's not just about what GTA is or what someone thinks it is about. If we would separate health from hunger then we're greatly reducing number of places where you can regenerate your health. It's great to have some realism in game but ultimate realism may not be best choice. I think, that maybe it could work if we would be able for example to regenerate our health while sleeping at our safehouse, motel, hotel.

Isn't that how it works in rdr2 already?

Do you think R* will add all of the features of RDR to GTA or will they try to differentiate both games so they don't feel like they are the same game but in a different period? Remember the time, where the fans thought, we would get the shooting mechanics of Max Payne 3 added in GTA V.

I still wish they did that. Shooting in MP3 just felt so damn satisfying.

Also they added the weapon wheel with all weapons from RDR1 into V, as well as the random encounter system. Also Strangers and Freaks got their start in IV then made their way into RDR1, then back to GTA, then back to RDR2. So they definitely aren't against carrying over good features.
