I think so. But I'm not sure. I wasn't there for all the discussion, I just woke up to that discovery, one morning.

EDIT: At the time, I didn't know their GTAF username. Now I do, so let's ask them about it?

Eh, probably not. BGS did that with TESVI, but knowing about a game officially and still having to wait anyway doesn't really change much.

 

(TESVI was officially announced in 2018, but BGS openly admitted in 2016 "of course we're making it", but that they were making 2 other games first.)

I think there's more but you would have to go through all of Cayo Perico's assets and that's a huge pain in the ass. Basically there's props in Cayo Perico that have extra texture channels that current GTA V doesn't use in its graphics pipeline, such as "ma" which is "metalness/roughness/AO", something used in more modern material pipelines like the one used in RDR2. Regardless of that find, the overall quality of Cayo Perico, the amount of vegetation, and even the ridiculous resolution of some of the Tuners assets (some posters and small banners are a whopping 2048x2048!) are some more pretty good indicators E&E must be getting an engine upgrade IMO.

Yes, the speculation thread linked below it. Although my original opinion was 2022, before changing due to new discoveries, at that time. Can be seen in the web.archive version, so it's not me backtracking.

Nobody ever noticed this, but at the end of TBOGT, Luis parachutes next to a sign that says "Visit Los santos", so Rockstar  definitely does put hints and nods to the next games locations, you just have to have a keen eye.

R* didn't do that man 🤦‍♂️ that was  a fan made edit by GTA series videos.

Like I said, I wrote it over 2 and a half years ago, so no. But I did frequently update it with new information. I didn't think E&E had a huge impact on VI, though. COVID-19 and WFH felt like it had a significantly bigger impact, though. It's changed everything all over the world. Nobody could have predicted that.

Go replay the game if you own it and you'll see that's not there. The only real possible clue was right at the end of the actual credits where Packie's (presumably, based on the story) plane flew onto the horizon and the camera stopped to show a "V" on the ground.

I'm torn on that. It's not uncommon for runways to have markings like that. So it's definitely not there for that (Besides it was in GTA IV at launch, anyway). But I'd say it's a safe bet it's a happy coincidence that Rockstar played on, using that final shot.

 

I just really hope GTA V E&E does something legitimate to indicate or hint at VI.

Rockstar uses the "ma" label for spec maps per RGB channel and the game reads them just fine, so I'd say it's already part of their graphics pipeline. They've slowly been updating shaders with every other new GTAO update for the past year or so. Red channel is for metal materials and Blue / Green is for plastic or painted materials. You can currently use this on any model. I use it in my project too.

RDRII also had 2K textures for some assets like for example posters (at least some of them). It gets completely crazy when you'll realize, that only one generation before you could find 2K textures basically only in x360/ps3 linear games on PC, for example in Max Payne 3.

Well, it's more the way the cutscene was set up, of course the markings would already be there in base GTA IV. :p By the time the expansions/EFLC released, GTA V was already in development anyway. It really isn't that far fetched.

Ahh, interesting, cheers! I could've sworn I saw someone make some texture finds that simply weren't used in GTA V's current unmodded graphics pipeline as other objects didn't have them but most textures in RDR2 did, etc, unless I got the suffix wrong and it wasn't the "_ma" textures. Still, I think there's still signs some of the more recent DLC's are more, let's say, "E&E ready" than previous ones overall, detail and asset-size wise. :p

I'm not sure I entirely follow your question. The development cycles for our core immersive releases are still significant. It takes some time to make, what we hope will be the best titles in the business. And development cycles are not getting shorter for core immersive releases. And I wouldn't necessarily expect them to.

Imagine this:

 

There's one character, but we see how he develops as a criminal from 1950's to 2020's. The game is set in three periods: 1950's, 1980's and 2000's.

 

The main menu has three modes, one for each period. You unlock them by playing the game. And then, after you finish the game, you can just choose. That would be something new.

in terms of story length yes probably. 

in terms of map rdr 2 size id imagine of florida . 

bear in mind rdr 2 and gta v are basically the same size map wise using a horse makes it feel bigger.

Kids playing game when action takes place in 2000: Controls are even more "clunky" than in RDRII. I'm also dreaming about something like this but not many people would be able to appreciate it. Look at this topic. Even here you'll find people who don't care about story and that's quite sad. Just give them some shooty, shooty, some cars and they will be happy. Ffs, it's open world game, not Michael Bay movie. Not to mention, that expectations of many players nowadays are flatter than plot of pr0n videos...

Reminds me of The Irishman, absolute masterpiece.

 

It's quite sad we may never get a GTA like that

They would have to basically develop 3 different games with their each individual licenced music and tone. Rockstar couldn't even add barber shops to GTA IV or Burger Shots/Cluckin' Bells to GTA V. It could work, if the game wasn't an open world sand box game. Rockstar really needs to revive "Agent" and make it a semi open game like Hitman, then the fans would have their 60s-80s nostalgia.
