what an overreaction.
Take it easy man. Relax.
It looks like the video is about insulting your family or something.

Maybe he is the third secret Houser brother?

Holy f*cking sh*t, I swear to god that, in all these years of speculations and dubious leaks, this video and the previous one about the ""GTA 5 easter egg in Red Dead Redemption 1"" have to legitimately be some of the worst, most ridiculous and far-fetched pieces of utter f*cking nonsense I have ever seen coming out of the Rockstar fanbase.

That's one very pissed off wall of text.

From the obviously biased rationalization of those two small setpieces as fitting within some larger overarching meta-narrative that this man has largely made up in his head to the corporate bootlicking of idolizing Sam and Dan Houser as if they're singlehandedly responsible for the existence of Grand Theft Auto as a series, these two videos are sincerely the most painful summation of the mentality of the average Grand Theft Auto fan, and knowing that there are people treating them as meritable pieces of evidence that might point towards the future of GTA as a series is just actually physically painful. What is especially ridiculous here is how this Strange Man person doesn't even do the classic clickbait YouTuber thing of prefacing their terrible speculations with a disclaimer the likes of "well, this is just my personal interpretation of these scenes, so naturally, you should take what I'm about to say next with a grain of salt and (...)" so they can get away with proclaiming stupid sh*t without having to be held accountable for factuality or something like that, no - he actually treats these pathetic, f*cking bonker-ass extrapolations as if he has just discovered something tangible and factual that is absolutely 100% confirmed as an intentional product of Rockstar cryptically informing players about their internal creative shenanigans and not just him overthinking very, very hard about two random small set pieces from two videogames that are not even within the same canonical universe of Grand Theft Auto. There is an aura of confidence to this video, a certain self-indulgent smugness that really gets me, but mind you, what *really* hurts my balls here isn't even necessarily that this is a bad interpretation, no: you are entirely within your right to make those interpretations anyways and leave them to the world to judge them on their own merits, right? No, what really, really stings has to be the fact that this video uploaded just a couple of days ago has over 300k views coming from a channel with over 200k subscribers, and it is packed to the brim with comments of tragically naïve 12-year-olds uncritically believing everything this utter buffoon is extrapolating out of those two very short and very self-contained bits of Red Dead Redemption 1 & 2 side content that were, almost certainly, developed by crunching interns who just wanted to make the world of those games feel more alive and in-depth by adding small extra bits of narrative that the player could find fulfillment in. Just imagine this, you spend weeks thinking about how to conceptualize the dramatic story of Sam the man who goes insane trying to reach California, or Rodolfo the Spanish Jesuit who perishes in the New Austin desert, and after finally finding the right emotional beats for writing both of those events, after packing and shipping them and feeling like you've just added two small but substantial pieces of content to this massive game that will certainly peak the interest of some players, you get some weirdo LARPing as a toupet mystery man on the internet talking about how these micro-stories you spent so much time creatively developing are actually just about how Sam and Dan Houser are epic 100% wholesome Keanu chungus visionaries who are engaging in an internal war against 2K and deep down inside they're just dying to give you GTA VI if only you keep on buying more Shark Cards and GTA V re-releases. GTA myths people, you talk about the Biowell in San Andreas? Well, won't you peep at this instead, because I cannot imagine a greater pile of stinking radioactive sh*t than these two goddamn f*cking videos. Mr. Strange Man, if you ever see this post, please, for the love of god, stop for a moment and think about your responsibility of being at least a little more factually impartial to your audience of impressionable children. Or, better yet, maybe just... stop. Please.

The thing that I find most egregious is that this fantasist truth-twister apparently cultivates a wall of dozens of Patreons, willingly throwing their cash at him to churn out this facile fan fiction.

That's how it should best be treated - as vacuous, very low quality fan fiction.

Strange Man actually used to have some interesting videos back then IIRC but they're just grasping at some big ass straws now imo.

That said, probably best we don't make this topic about them and their supposed "finds" as all we're doing is giving them more attention.

Worst part is when he puts things like "clearly proves/indicates that..." or "is a clear reference of..."

He could just opt to use words as "it could mean that" and it would result more convincing I think...

I miss the days when a game was announced only 2 or 3 years after the last entry in a series, and it didn't result in this level of hyper analysis and conspiracy theories. Rockstar have made us into disgusting, desperate, tin foil suit wearing crazies.

You busted out a fat ass rant.

But I pretty much agree entirely. Those two videos seem so sure of themselves and Strange Man doesn't even question his own hypothesis.

I can maybe see the idea that the California side mission was possibly a hint to GTA 5, as R* has hinted at future titles ("See You In Miami" in GTA3, the Vinewood hydra carnival background in Firefly in GTA 4) but that's it. I seriously doubt there was this massive backstory behind these tiny side missions which only were put to add background and depth to the story.

Even those references are different. Miami, in GTA III is believable, because Vice City released only 12 months later. Although we do know that it didn't even get decided until after GTA III released. So I'd wager that is more akin to a happy coincidence. And the San Andreas Vinewood stuff at the fairground in GTA IV is complete BS, imo. Every city is referenced in GTA IV. It's just another case of selectively picking the one that matches the next games location and saying it was a hint. I saw plenty of fairground rides, growing up, that referenced Hollywood or Miami, etc. Even made a post about it, somewhere.

This one is legit! Although some people have mistakenly claimed they teased Los Santos in TBoGT ending, by using GTASeries Videos from March 2013. Which was fan made after the fact we knew V's location:

Well if easter eggs are anything to go by, there's plenty VC easter eggs in V, isn't it? I don't remember SF or Carcer being mentioned that much throughout the game, but maybe it's because of selective attention due to the decade-long VC hype in here.

Basically, yes. Vice City was heavily referenced in GTA IV, too. Yet V was in Los Santos. People just focus on the ones that match and ignore the ones that don't: Confirmation bias.

There's a "I ♥️ Vice City" towel on the beach, in GTA V. So obviously it's a hint at GTA VI. 🤦‍♂️

I'd even argue that there was more references to VC in IV, especially more prominent ones, like the homeless guy that found the diamonds. (Would be kinda cool if his store was actually in VI, if it's Vice City)

Wasn't this always based as speculation towards where the next GTA would be located?

Oh I remember how the discussions and theories went at the time. People were convinced Jerry was going to be in GTA V, after buying a gun store or whatever, in Vice City lol

Yeah, it was either Vice City, because the poster was in Vice City. San Andreas, because mountains. Or France, because the tear was the same shape as France...

Hopefully. Vice City references were all over IV after all, and it was heavily speculated back then too.

V is strange in this regard though. I don't remember any city references/easter eggs in V that stuck out from the rest really. Maybe they really didn't do it this time or maybe there'll be clues in E&E. Apart from that beach towel and a few 80's-Miami-ish posters, all cities are just casually referred to throughout the game like they'd be in real life.

Most of them are just subtle or natural 'larger world' references. Just to make the player feel like the world is larger than it actually is. So destinations at the airport, or NPC chatter or mentions of other cities on websites or news broadcasts/articles. The Vice City bikini girl art is on a building in Hawick, I think.

A lot of it is somewhat interpretative. Packie was leaving LC. But we didn't know where. Could be representative of the story being over. Could be he will be in GTA V. Could be something else. Rockstar did comment on it though, and said Packie would not be in GTA V. I can't remember their exact quote, however.

There was also the plane ticket for Niko, on the Social Club website background that had 'San Andreas' on it.
