Earlier in July, 2K Foundation refurbished a basketball center in Totonto, and got The Weeknd to open it.

 

More than likely it's all a total coincidence of course, a charitable act and one of the celebs they found to open it just happened to be The Weeknd.

 

Or it could be all about NBA and nothing to do with GTA - but it seems like one of those intriguing coincidences, doesn't it?

 

I wish they would just donate $1 Million to the retired players association so we could finally get Charles Barkley in NBA 2K.

I think there's still a possibility, it only depends on one thing: GTA V E&E success on bringing new players to the new gen (which is the reason why it exists, probably). Because if the current generation's player base continues like this, we'll have to wait until at least 2025, and that's unavoidable. Rockstar wouldn't release their most hyped title ever in a gen with a so small player base.

I think the whole video is highly interpretive. You can basically take any of it and apply any 'hidden' meaning to any of it to produce a hidden secret message. As much as some of it adds up and 'makes sense', there's also a lot that just doesn't make complete sense and could easily mean something else entirely. I think he's reading into something a little too much and coming up with a cool 'coincidence' when looked at the right, specific way.

 

Oh and Take Two were either lying about that or horrifically miscalculated.

My problem with many of these kinda speculations is they take "Vice City in the 80's and modern day with at least 1 female protagonist" and some other trivial loosely related stuff that have popped up in this collective fantasy enough times, as undoubted truths and official info. When they find something genuinely interesting, they try and look for clues about those in it, or try and line them up somehow. Another example was that Weeknd news article. I don't know what's made The Weeknd (and not only him, but specifically his post-2019 synthpop phase) an undisputed part of the next GTA or related to it in some way. There are more clear references to Miami or Vice City in GTA V than other cities but this is weird.

 

Nevertheless the video was better than some others I've seen. At least it started off with something from Rockstar themselves.

I don't think realism would bother anybody. IV wasn't just realistic, it was very limited. V fixed that to an extent but lacked some of IV's features so I don't think it was much of an improvement, it was just a different game.

GTA IV had limited features compared to San Andreas, but its gameplay is a whole nother story, something GTA V f*cked up and I hope isn't repeated again for VI.

I'm a huge SA fan, it's my favorite in the series and one of my most played games of all time. And I do drool over GTA 4s realism in its gameplay, world and story.
