Maybe the "80's Miami vibe" is lacking, because you are driving around with an old car and a out of place character in modern Los Angeles?

Try that in a couple years again, but this time pose in front of here:

Would still feel out of place. Modern day miami is full of modern supercars. Sitting in traffic and the car next to me is blasting this

So Miami has kept it's neon aesthetics that made the city iconic since the 80's? Good for them.

I get what you're saying. The term ''80's aesthetics'' cannot be applied to Miami, as it is literally the city's own visual aesthetic as a whole. However, setting the next GTA in Vice City in modern times, based around modern Miami would seem peculiar as most players neither live in or have ever visited Miami. We don't expect Vice City to look like that today and practically speaking, it would seem like a cheap compromise to revive the spirit of Vice City, while keeping the modern conveniences from GTA V intact (e.g. hypercars, flying bikes, cellphones etc.). Count that up with radios playing modern synth pop, pedestrians (and if not the protagonist(s)) dressing either partially or fully inspired by the 80's and things just get weird.

I don't want to "revive the spirit of Vice City" (which is basically the spirit of Miami Vice/Scarface), but some people here argue against a modern setting with the reason, that it will be all about robots, flying bikes and social media, which is bullsh*t. They think, neon lights and cocaine traffic are exclusive to the 80's.

I absolutely get. You want "Miami Vice: The Game" or "GTA: Vice City 2" where you can role play as Sonny Crockett. Basically stuff that has already been done to death.

Name 5 examples of games that let you role play as Crockett in Miami.

No. Please don't spread fake news. People in Miami only listen to 2020 Weeknd and Dua Lipa. That's the only artists they listen to besides Hall & Oates. There's also Kavinsky, HKE, and telepath playing from speakers in the sky. The pink and cyan sky, that is.

But I can name you some games and movies which share (quoth) "basically" the same 80's ideas, themes and/or vibes:

- GTA Vice City

- GTA Vice City Stories

- Scarface (movie)

- Scarface (game)

- Miami Vice (series)

- Miami Vice (movie)

- Miami Vice (game)

- Hotline Miami (1 and 2)

- Drive

- Narcos

Not to mention all the references in other movies, music, series and games.

Ah ok, it's the "5 years"-rule. Everybody knows, it's ok to do the same idea again, if you wait for a total 5 years.

I enjoyed GTA V and SA the most, because i like they are the only GTA's which have airplanes and enjoyable free roam activities. You can simply drive around the city without the need to do any story mission. The linearity of GTA IV bored not only me, but everyone I know to death. There isn't one fun thing you can do besides the story missions and going on a rampage while hiding in a apartment. No bunny hops with a bike over moving cars, no downhill racing, no diversity of the map, no airplanes, no fun vehicles like a tank, nothing. I play a game for it's gameplay and not for it's story. Oscar worthy games like RDR and Last of Us are the exception, but I prefer GTA to have less story and more of a free flow gameplay.

"Environmentally friendly cars" are already in GTA Online. You also got that statement out of context. You were asking for changes since 2013, to which I replied with some examples.

Yes, because that's what they naturally associate with Miami Vice, Vice City and Narcos etc. and the decade's general aesthetics. Everyone wants the game to be just like that - set in the 80's, except you. At this point, your argument is no longer fitted for discussion, but rather reduced to an unpopular opinion only a minority of fans will agree with. Not having the next Vice City set in the 80's would be blasphemy to the millions of fans anticipating just that. You're entitled to your opinion and you have the right to discuss it, but discussing just that would to you be futile as no one will agree enough with your desired concept of the game, to actually make a valid point to others worth discussing further.

Oh sorry, did my opinion offend you? Your post is basically:

Whatever, I just hope Rockstar realized with the success of GTA V and the Los Santos Tuners DLC what the majority of the consumers actually want and doesn't listen to a minority of nerds on this forum basically circlejerking each other and gatekeeping others from voicing their opinions. And no, you aren't the majority of the fans, you are just a loud minority on a fan forum. It's mainly the same 30 or so people arguing over here. The silent majority is either busy playing GTA Online or is taking a break till the next GTA. I also feel like Rockstar themselves hate GTA IV for failing to outpeform the sales of SA and them killing Johnny was a "f*ck you" to GTA IV. But whatever keep circlejerking to Miami Vice and hating GTA Online. I am sure Rockstar will remove Online and flying bikes, because @paperbagdude on gtaforum said so.

Okay let's chill out a bit... again. GTA VI will be set whenever Rockstar deem the best for the game they want to make and we'll all still enjoy it. Arguing about it is a little petty and daft.

Here we thought we were talking about 80s setting only smh. And it takes combined votes of 5-6 decades to surpass current times so it's very clear what's the actual winner in the poll, even in this hardcore GTA fanforum.

But that was the pre Oppressor Mk II and Narcos hype era. Now it's totally cool to hate on GTA V.

And some people can't read graphs. The winner of this poll are the votes for modern times. Not everyone voting for past decades wants a 80's setting and vice versa.

If the game exists, it will be much larger than one city or state. 10 years between releases, the next GTA will have to be epic, and maybe they are remastering all the old cities for a new game and Online. Look at the Crew 2, its possible to have that type of map. A new GTA just set in Vice City would of been nice if it was released 4 or 5 years ago.

This sounds like a recipe for disaster for all participants. Fans having specific nostalgic expectations and a game developer who would then pander to fans = everyone will lose. R* visited 80's VC, kinda twice, explored most of the stereotypical themes of the setting so I'm 95% they won't do that again. R*, a group of artists don't want to redo their past art for nostalgia points and hopes to satisfy some old fans, as an artist you don't want to be a hack or a sellout, you want to pursue new challenges. VCS was THE revisit we got and deserved.

My favorite GTA is GTA:SA, but with the limited amount of GTAs we will ever get, why would I or anyone (let alone R*) want an early 90´s San Andreas with gangs and sh*t again?

I can't wait to play GTA V-2 set in Vice City, with missions where you kill jeffrey beef from Forest with a drone, or help a influencer get the perfect shot in their TipTop app, or seeing political opinions and discussions on Bleeter that are exactly copy and paste from real Twitter.

Some people who voted for 90's, 70's, 60's etc would rather have a modern setting than a Miami Vice game. Not all, but some. The correct poll question you are looking for is "Would you rather have a modern setting or an 80's?".

In the poll exactly 730 people voted for past settings i.e 6 decades from 50s to 2000s, so average 121.667 people for each decade and exactly 580 people voted for modern times i.e 2010s and 20s. So average 290 people for each decade. (not taking future into equation)

If you're choosing a setting based on that poll, what you'll choose? Past setting? Then which decade? You're alienating more people by choosing a single past decade than a single modern decade. (If you choose 80s you're alienating 1029 people but if you're choosing modern time you're alienating 788 people so the choice is clear) And this poll was made back in 2016 so majority of the votes are for 2010s really.
