Let's face it. WD2 shouldn't have had guns in it, at all. If you're taking Marcus seriously as a character, even by a tiny extent, then you know he will never kill a person deliberately in cold blood just to get some data off a server farm. They should've made all guns non lethal and gave us more toys to play as a pacifist.

What I don't like about Watch dogs is that they focus too much on hacktivists trying to do good. I wanna be the blackhat hacker who will steal all your money, or who will hack the US government sell that info to China or Russia for money and then go spend it on a nice fancy car.

 

or be the other side FBI cybercrime division. Go after the hackers and FBI agents use guns and go on raids so lethal force could work with that.

Aiden pretty much is a c*nt though. He practically acts like a narcissistic, egotistical Batman wannabe and the game never really condemns him for that which is one of my principal issues with WD1. Him and Damien Brenks are basically very similar guys even though the games wants you see them differently.

 

You literally can be a peeping tom in WD1 (I don't remember if you could do the same in 2), spying on people's very personal moments without any shred of consequence in a game where the main villain corporations are essentially guilty of the same crime, the one's you're fighting but the game wants you to like Aiden. Take money from people's account without any repercussion but as you said none of those are integrated in the storyline. 

 

Rorschach from Watchmen is basically what Aiden should've been.

It's an issue with AC too lmao Ubisoft surely love their protagonists to be the piece holding the whole humanity together. With AC at least they had some characters that were deeper than 1 millimeter in the earlier titles, but then they tied it in with US history and I just quit caring about the series.

Yeah man it's an Ubisoft problem they want you to play as the good guy not the bad guy unlike R* :kekw:

 

Closest Ubisoft title for me that kinda did was Black Flag with being a pirate but then during the middle of the game Edward changes.

All Ubisoft franchises are homogenized to an outrageous degree. The last game I truly loved from them was Black Flag. That game did have many annoying trailing missions but goddamn it was an amazing pirate simulator.

I am really tired of the protags R* makes in they are a morally good person who never disrespects women and sh*t but go on a killing spree in the next moment. I need a character that is a morally sh*t human being with no redeeming qualities what so ever like in GTA 1 and 2 who just wants money and nothing else.

Different tones, though. GTA IV, while it did have a lot of comedic moments, was very grey and washed out. It was extremely gritty and grounded while also having a pretty depressing story where nothing good ever really happens to Niko or Roman. RDR in contrast just had a bit more colour, and RDR2 specifically felt more 'fun' (for lack of a better word). It still had a sad ending, but it was a story about redemption and so it's not as depressing. And it certainly wasn't gritty and washed out. Which helps a lot. The visuals can really impact how a game or story 'feels'.

 

The early mission, drinking with Lenny immediately sets a different tone than GTA IV.

I remember reading an interview with Leslie I think, and he explained that the depressing tone of GTA IV was a reflection of the low mood at R* following the hot coffee scandal. Redemption 2 is also kind of a reflection of the what's been happening at R*, with older members of the prestigious publisher/gang leaving and going their way, whether it was intentional or not.

I can see that. Say, a new future, a soft reboot and reimagination of Grand Theft Auto.

Sounds like GTA 5 was made as a great celebration and triumph if that's to be believed.

Liberty City is always a perfect setting for GTA. I do hope we get to see a proper NY and surrounding countryside one day. Hopefully GTA VII
