GTA 6 Speculation & Discussion [Part 5.69]

Freedom comes at a massive price from a developmental standpoint, unhappy with 6-7 year gap between GTA's?  How about 15 years between games because they're having to develop around multiple scenarios for every mission.  I like V just how it is, i just hope that VI has a more in-depth world, smarter AI, a world that is truly alive, more interiors etc.

Indeed, the level of detail of this thing is just amazing. You know that cabin alone in the woods? (not gonna mention any specifics since it's spoiler) was like "lemme go inside and grab some food cans" never in my life would have thought that a game can surprise me like that, literally had goosebumps, if we were to sit down and talk about each detail this game has we'll probably finish talking about it just before the release of VI.

There's that youtube channel if you haven't already seen it by the name Strange Man, that guy covers so many stuff, if it wasn't for him i would have missed most of things he mentioned because the game is so full of things you simply can't keep up with everything.

This game was developed with such care and passion i only wish and hope that VI will be on the same level of RDR2 if not more.

Of course I know it 😄, surely gave me a fricking heart attack, man.

And yea that YouTube channel is awesome he even explained who's Gavin, lol. This reminds, I wonder if there's some sort of iceberg about RDR2's mystery, I should probably check that out because like I said I keep discovering new things every playthrough.

There is already massive gap between GTA V and RDRII so these things are pretty much granted.

Tbf, it's not really too much of a stretch, though. The obvious main issue is that you don't need to go to a city to find the right tone, or feel for a soundtrack. Certainly helps, though. But yeah, lot's of people holiday there. I know others who've been to Disney World, etc.

People go to Miami/Florida lol

Especially given the person's role. It's a music manager, why would their presence in Miami mean anything to do with GTA VI? Let them enjoy their vacation.  Miami is both a big music venue and vacation location, so y'know.

Rolling loud was this weekend.

One of the biggest music events of the year especially after COVID. He was probably at that enjoying himself nothing Rockstar or GTA related.

It was definitely made for people who will not only complete few missions but who truly love singleplayer games.

I'd agree with it if your criticism was directed at Ubisoft missions but the main draw of Hitman games is to manipulate levels to execute the target in as many ways you can. You also have pretty distinct levels unlike enemy camp design of Ubisoft. It might just not be for you.

Cayo Perico and the Train Heist in RDO are pretty much mini Hitman missions. You scout out areas, plan, use different objects to your advantage and loot and escape. If GTAV and RDR2 had proper stealth mechanics to boot with, namely if you could hide from enemies even after being detected and get back to stealth state again it'd have been so much better.

Well.. Imran Sarwar was old school, A to B design. Looking forward to Scott Butchard's design in VI

why people always want so much freedom in Missions? R* dont make Roleplaying games, they make film-like titels that you can play. They give you the route and that has a reason /  will not change. Small Choices that have no effect of the overall story are fine, but if you go deeper, you change completly the Story and thus the game.

Would it be better if rockstar gives more freedom? NO, we play a character that R* gives us, we dont create our own and thats why R* titels are so good and thats why people still talk about CJ, Claude, Niko.

In order not to stray away from the topic, but at the same time being in touch with all the RDR2 praisal, my question to all the people giving praises is next; what is so masterpiece alike, so revolutionary, advanced and next level about RDR2's gameplay and free-roam that you would like to see in GTA VI?

The inertia in the controls. People complain about that (and I get it) but I like it. I like that Rockstar characters actually feel like a person, rather than weightless humans that can sprint and spin effortlessly. And the world itself. RDR2 was the first time it truly felt like a living breathing world. But specifically the outdoors, the wildlife and nature. GTA V's is great, too. But it still kinda' just feels like 'it's there' and doesn't feel as alive. Which makes sense, it was a 360/PS3 game from 2013. I'd love to roam the Florida countryside and just watch the natural world go by, and see how lifelike it is. But this time, in a modern setting.

C'mon fam, you can most certainly be more precise without needing to use Rockstar's empty, meaningless phrases, such as " living, breathing world ", 'cause to this day, I've got no effin clue, wtf was that supposed to mean; where, when, or how do people get those kind of impressions? Sure, graphics and narrative are top notch, but that thing has to do something with gameplay, nothing else?

I can understand your view on controls, but from my personal standpoint, they are bugged. So much input lag is just way too much. It adds up while being engaged in something that requires fast response and I end up doing something I actually didn't want. Objectively, it's light years from being masterpiece alike, and in all honesty, I think they really need to do something about it.

It means, when you go out into the countryside and you see various wildlife. They look and feel 'alive'. In other games, and even GTA V, they just feel like "A Deer was spawned here" and it just wanders around that area. But in RDR2, it just feels more alive. Everything from the animations, their AI and they way they behave and react. Seeing Horses roll around in a field or a buck clashing horns, etc. It just feels real. Where in GTA V it looks cool, and feels populated. But it never felt alive.

That's the thing, it's not input lag. I get why people feel like it is. But it isn't. Your inputs are pretty instant. You just have to build up to it. I look at Assassin's Creed Odyssey for example, as it released a couple of weeks before RDR2. In AC:O you can sprint everywhere, mash the Triangle/Y button to look recourses, loot bodies and animal skins without even stopping. And you move with perfect response time to the stick movements. It just feels video gamey. Where Rockstar with RDR2 wanted to craft something that made you feel connected to that world. I prefer Rockstar's approach.

If any one aspect of the game design is out of sync, the illusion is broken.

He tagged Rockstargames in the post, which might imply something a little more, or most likely it might not.

However this raises a bigger and much more serious question - in fact it's the real elephant in the room. Does so-called Florida even exist?

Sure, plenty of people including myself think they have been to the actual place known as Florida, but what if it's all just a massive fake hoax? What if we were all tricked by a confection fabricated to confuse and distract, and actually on the southern border of Georgia there's just a coastline that the powers that be want to keep secret?

This, I think, most likely explains just about everything including why the game is taking so long to be announced. Thank me later.

Now we are talking. It sure as hell is a nice thing to see all that wild life having 'mind of its own'. That's the attention to details I would like them to flex when it comes to things we can actually engage with. Despite looking magnificent, its just a simple 'show off'. What exactly we, as players, can do with all that beauty? Pretty much nothing. Feast our eyes? Sure as hell, but that's one of the problems with that game; the times I've had most fun with it, are the exact moments I layed the controller down. I really liked setting up tent and reading newspapers as well. But man, that's just a simple pastime, requiring nothing from us, players. It's more of a trick, than something made to be 'real' and made to be engaged with.

The other thing is a bit subjective and I for one, enjoy more fast paced tempo. Sluggish controls tend to be more 'life-like" but in many cases simple controls design offer more fun. As long as they are being consistent.

It's just a backdrop. It's part of what makes the game work. You can hunt animals, skin then, eat them and craft with their skins, etc. But just like in real life, what can you actually do? Not much else.

But it has to be there. Like I said, if any one part of the game design doesn't work, or is flawed, the entire illusion collapses. It's a cowboy/outlaw game, set in the countryside, for the most part. Those things have to work and be believable, otherwise it all falls apart.

The amount of research that went into creating a plausible turn of the century outlaw type of life impressed me the most. They clearly spent a huge amount of time and effort understanding the detail of that period in history and articulating in a fictional way the feeling of change and impending modernity.

It's balanced enough to create a really consistent sense of time and place, even when you're in the middle of nowhere. In that way it's in a class of its own, miles ahead of any other title.

If they're investing as much (or more) effort into placemaking for Six then i hope we only have good things to look forward to.

It's the kind of experience that makes you say "wow, you can see where 5 years went, into making this unbelievably detailed game" and you feel like it was worth the wait.

Easier said after the fact, of course.

I think, that you are neglecting this part of RDRII. Not everything has to be or even should be about chaos. What I love to do in RDRII is go for a walk or ride, go fishing, play poker and so on. Just for example follow NPC in both GTA V and RDRII and you'll see, that in GTA V at some point they will act like their AI script has frozen so they will stand in one place for unlimited time etc

The only input lag I felt was when starting to walk from standstill. After that it really doesn't matter. The game's animation system and mechanics complements the pacing of the game. The enemy AI and encounters are also made to match that pace. It's not Max Payne 3 and never intended to be.

And you can always play in first person which is faster than third person movement and animations.

Anyone else think Dan Houser, Lazlow and some of the other recently former R* employees wrote the story, a rough draft of the script for both the main story and radio etc and selected most of the music for GTA VI before they left the company?

When you consider they began producing RDR2 in early 2011, even if that was just writing. You'd imagine they'd at least done something before they left. Who know how much has changed, though.

The movement and animations need to be improved, I really hate how Arthur needs to reposition itself when he has to do anything, also holding a button to grab anything, like I understand it to loot bodies, but why to open drawers or picking stuff? Hope they change it

It's there for immersion, and as people have mentioned already, it compliments RDR2's slow pace and other realistic similar things. Personally I think animations should be realistic, but faster.

I don't dislike it, but honestly I feel like it should be faster. Most of the time when I loot something I only do it if I'm decided to loot someone anyway, so the extra step of having to hold the button for 1 second becomes boring after a while, maybe there should be a setting to adjust it.
